I stayed at La Cuesta de Cayma for six nights with my son while visiting my daughter in Arequipa, Peru. The hotel sent a car to pick us up at the airport. The bedding was clean and comfortable. The breakfast buffet, which was free for us after the first day, was very good. They have a beautiful lobby, sitting area with fireplace, and restaurant. The staff was very friendly and attentive. I was happy they had hot water available 24/7 for tea.
Our room was on the first floor and I was unable to sleep due to the street noise. It was warm at night, but we could not open the window because of the traffic, horns, etc. A fan would have helped us stay cool and drown out the outside noise. The shower leaked onto the tile floor in the bathroom and the carpet was dirty.

Very spacious and comfy rooms, with an awesome big balcony to enjoy. The hotel is well maintained and quite large. The location is near the malls of Cayma.
They tried charging us the 18% IGV - took half an hour to correct their error. Upon checkin we reminded them we are not obliged to pay it. And upon checkout we found they added it anyhow. This seems a common practice in Peru, unfortunately most hotels attempt to charge this tax. Call the SUNAT if hotels do, because it's basically a way to scam you out of near 20% which adds up to be a lot.

Excellent staff and facilities. We really appreciated the extra effort the staff went to accommodating our special needs for a quiet room. Great restaurant.
Street noise was incessant from before 5;00 am to 11;00 pm, but nothing the hotel can do about that.
