We booked online with kayak, but when we got to the Avis ticket counter, they said they didn’t honor same day booking site reservations, and refused to provide a car for us. We ended up having to go with budget, which ended up being cheaper anyway.

I bought the extra insurance for 50k damage to the vehicle and it didn't matter cause they won't rent a car to someone who doesn't have thier insurance card on them. I'm with a small time insurance company who doesn't have 24 hour access to a digital card and I don't travel with my insurance card... it stays in my car! They already have fleet insurance on all thier vehicles anyway so regardless the car is covered for liability right?So I bought full coverage and had the policy in front of the agent and it didn't matter because of policy?.. stupid. More like profiling! I've never had a problem like this with nextcar or budget or dollar and I work for door dash which has avis perks they tell me. I've always been able to rent a car with my platinum Mastercard anywhere and bought the extra insurance anyways cause it has helped, and I suggest anyone out there to do the same. Just don't rent from a is anchorage. F them

We had a problem with our vehicle and were told to come in and quickly swap it out with an identical vehicle that they were holding for us. The replacement vehicle wasn’t available when we arrived and the staff were unaware of the situation. The exchange was not quick as had been claimed. We were satisfied until this moment.

The customer service was amazing, especially when I returned the vehicle. Not saying the pickup was bad but coming in from a long flight and looking for nexcar and they not having a prominent poster like everyone else was a little frustrating. They provide me the vehicle I had chosen, also the counter experience and picking up the vehicle and dropoff was different than other car rental places. I guess it's more self reliance than I was use to. I wouldn't change anything! I will definitely be looking for them for all my rental needs in Alaska.

The long wait at the counter to pick up the car negatively tainted the entire experience. (The coffee someone had skilled on the floor in the line was also unpleasant--and hazardous. No one seemed to care that everyone was having to line up around it.). The car itself was nice and was better than expected when we took the chance on the mystery vehicle. Checking the car back in was pretty easy and, thankfully, quick.

We made a reservation with Dollar in Anchorage, AK expecting to be able to get to the rental location from the airport. The airport had a dollar rental car desk but was not where our reservation was. There was no shuttle to the other location and we were told the other location did not open until 8 a.m. our flight had been changed by the airline to leave at 8 a.m. this meaning we had to be at the airport by 6 a.m. Leaving no option but to use the airport location. They would not match the price we were quoted. The rental ended up costing us $800 MORE than we expected. Will not be using Dollar again.

Your site says pickup would be at airport. It was not. Required shuttle and no person whatsoever present to help. Only email indicating to take shuttle to off airport parking and get key from a lock box with combination provided in email. No one there upon car return to sign off on damage free return. Car was older model but clean and serviceable. They mentioned that they have tried to correct misconception with Kayak regarding pickup and drop off. Have they? Why haven’t you addressed this? Felt deceived.
