Pros: Could not think of any way this property could be improved. The location on the edge of the village was ideal. The comfort and standard of finish at the property was very high. The hosts were very welcoming and on hand if you needed anything (without being intrusive). The food was fresh, local and well prepared. If we are in the area we would love to stay here again.

Pros: Wow. What a B&B. Last minute decision as we loved Ambleside last year, so we wanted to go back but be a bit closer to the town. It was absolutely amazing. The location was next to everything. All within a 5 minute walk. Breakfast was wonderful. George and Lindsey really couldn’t of done anymore, instantly made you feel welcomed. Their B&B made you feel like you was at home. It was lovely. We will 100% be back.

Pros: The location was good, central to Ambleside, but being on a side street meant that it was quiet at night. Additional car parking which we requested on booking was a bonus. It was a secure lock up and just a short walk away from the hotel.
Cons: We would have called Hillsdale a bed and breakfast rather than a hotel. The ensuite was tiny. You had to negotiate the sink before sliding onto the toilet - a lot of elbow banging. The bed was uncomfatable as you could feel the springs and the quilt had seen better days, it was just warm enough for October. The breakfast was average - the beans and mushrooms were on ration! We asked for breakfast at 8.30 and we were ask if 8.25 was o.k. - clock watching is not on our agenda when having a relaxing weekend! Over all we were disappointed and will not be staying there again.

Pros: The rooms were beautiful and we had the most stunning view from the Lingmoor Room. Also, the Lingmoor fireplace tiles are something to write home about. The house felt warm and friendly and there was an air of understated confidence from a place that knows it does a little bit of luxury, very well. The young host was informative and very friendly despite being the only person on duty over the weekend, and made sure we had a great vegetarian English Breakfast lined up. We only stayed a night but we'd love to come back and make it a regular thing. Not least for the homemade flapjack!

Cons: There is no bar to speak of which is misleading. It’s in the middle of no where so you have to drive out to get dinner. I wasn’t impressed with how the payments were handled after specifically instructed them I wanted/needed to use a different card which they acknowledged and agreed too. Then when I enquired if it was possible to amend my booking down by 1 day as I had no one to care for my pet for the last day they promptly went ahead and charged the card using that as the excuse for not being able to amend my booking after confirming they wouldn’t do so.

Pros: Warm welcome, hospitality was excellent. Room was comfy, clean and views were amazing. Breakfasts were second to none. Local pub was very rustic and welcoming but menu was expensive and hard to understand .
Cons: We wanted a remote setting but didnt realise how remote this was. Be prepared for a drive to local amenities and restaurants.

Tea and coffee station in the room. Good breakfast. Nice food in Badgers bar ...pie and fish & chips delicious. Free car park.
