Very traditional Japanese hot spring, excellent service, every detail is handled with care and professionalism
dinner & breakfast were great. nice onsen. the staffs are so helpful.
Baien's "onsen" was superb. The surrounding was amazing and breathtaking, especially looking at Mount Yufu at dawn. At 6am when it began to light - I was the only one using the onsen, it was utterly peaceful. What a way to start the day! The Japanese dinging experience was also great. We enjoyed almost every course! The staff was great, very helpful. The room was also very spacious and luckily we chose Western style bed room. I don't think we would survive the tatami mattresses, we wouldn't be able to get up!
Please make sure you let the hotel know in advance about your meal preference, especially if you're a vegetarian.
24 hour Onsen and family room Location Spacious room Delicious breakfast and dinner kaseiki
Little bit of moldy smell in the room
There are two onsens, one private for residents, one public. As there are maybe 9 ryokans on the site the private onsens are often free, especially late at night. The evening meals were very good and we very much enjoyed the whole experience. The bed quilts are huge, the beds comfy.
No bathroom in the ryokan so any shower had to be at the onsen, a walk away. Inflexible. We booked this ryokan as it says it offers a continental breakfast - only it doesn't. The menus roll over 2 days, day 1 breakfast includes yogurt, day 2 fruit but the staff were unable to do a bowl of yogurt and fruit instead of the full Japanese breakfast for me. We knew in advance we would be unable to make evening meal 3 but the staff were unable to provide a packed meal or snack for us whereas other ryokans seemed happy to do so for their guests. There's a bar on site but it was closed on the two evenings we tried to go there after our meal and they then wouldn't serve a glass of wine from the restaurant instead. There is nowhere else to go nearby.
Our traditional Japanese ryokan inn welcomes guests from many countries and is particularly keen on offering them a unique experience of Japanese hospitality. Baien provides all its guests with an semi-roofed outdoor hotsprings with a direct view of Mount Yufu and its surroundings. Guests can walk around the property garden and will find a souvenir corner with unique items to bring back home. Free WiFi and parking facility are also available. Our staff can speak Japanese, English, Korean and Chinese, and will help you settle down and find your way around. Please come to stay with us.
