Location location location and the air conditioner worked very well in the hot weather
The smell of the room but it wasn't that bad and the breakfast was really poor
I like everything. Good breakfast, friendly staff, good location just behind Doge's Palace and St.Marko Basilica, a lot of cafes and restaurants around,1-2 min walk to vaporeto stops....
Location of hotel is excellent, only a two minute walk from the Vaporetto Stop - S. Zaccaria (we caught a 5.1 from the railway station). From the vaporetto stop we walked straight ahead and slightly left down a narrow alley to our hotel on the left hand side. The alley is not dark as there are a lot of shops lit up beyond the hotel. The room was a good size, the bed comfortable and the bathroom was a good size. The air conditioning was quiet and set around 22 degrees. Lovely and cool on our return from walking around a very warm Venice. Breakfast was adequate but as we were there for 5 days the choice was limited. The staff were friendly especially Simone (?) who was on the evening we arrived. Others were also very helpful. As mentioned above, the vaporetto stops were a very short walk away and we decided to buy a 3 day pass which was very good value for money. At the time we visited (July) a day pass was 20 Euros, 30 E. for 2 days and 40 Es for 3 days. We paid 7.50 for our single trip from the station to the hotel but this was covered when we returned. Very close to St Marks Square (about 5 minutes walk) and the vaporetto's, taxis and the water buses - not forgetting the gondolas of course. Went on a lovely trip to Murano by vaporetto and came back on a different one so we could see different sights. The number 2 does a lovely round trip along the Grand Canal and again is available from the S. Zaccaria stop yards from the hotel.
The room was a good size and although I asked for some sort of view, as I don't like to look out at brick walls or pipes, etc, the shutters were closed all the time apart from a small gap where I could see a window of a shop across the narrow street. You were asked not to open the windows as this would upset the air conditioning. I would have like the shutters to have been opened a bit more even if the windows should not be opened. The shower head was an old style and fixed into the wall so I could not use it as a hand held to test the temperature of the water so stayed outside the shower with a hand under the water until the warmth started to come through as shower was too small to stay in a corner.
Location, staff extremely friendly and polite
Very convenient location and close to Piazza San Marco hidden away from the throngs of tourists. The lift was not working when we arrived so had to carry luggage to the 4th floor. Breakfast was included in our stay and it was a standard breakfast. Nothing fancy, but fine enough to sustain you for the morning. Can walk a ton of places and the San Vaccharia water taxi stop is very close by.
The lift not working when we arrived. The safe was not functional.
