The climb to my room
Dolphin resturant serves the best meals and has awesome views. The staff are extremely friendly as well.
Staff made me feel uneasy like we did something wrong when they realised we had a tour booked with someone else. Also tried offering an ‘upgrade’ which cost more than the hotels of our whole trip to India. Also claimed visa machine wasn’t working, very convenient, first refused to provide receipt for cash payment and then wrote one with wrong name. Organised taxi to the airport then tried to put us in man powered rickshaw. I’m just not sure if this was all me or just a sequence of crazy events.
The wifi internet was not working in the room. It only works in the lobby.
The shower could have been better. No ventilation or window in the room. The room itself was very small for two beds.
It is worth getting the hotel to pick you up from the airport. There are no vehicles allowed the last 800m to the Ganges. The taxi driver phones ahead and someone from the hotel will come and carry your bags through the chaos. We recommend you pay extra to get the top room 302 which had great views. You have breakfast in The Dolhin Restaurant in front of the hotel. You can have anything you want from the menu which is cooked fresh to order. Most of the time we had lunch and dinner at the Dolphin as the food was so good. The Dolphin will also serves beer, 500 rupees, even though it is not on the menu. There are very few hotels with views of the ganges. We recommend this hotel, even with the hassle of getting there, rather than staying at a hotel away from the river. Once there you can walk up and down the river safely.
Several flights of stairs but its worth it for the views.
