I've stayed here several times before when visiting this town, but not for maybe three years now, but the receptionist remembered me. That's typical - it's a wonderful place, built by the shy and retiring patriarch when the town was just a baby, not a big tourist resort. The hotel is youth-hostel style, in the best possible way. Bare old furniture and tiled floors, and huge spaces, with sunlight everywhere. Wonderful old grand hotel style rooms with thin as paper yellow corridor doors and old-style clunky keys, giving into a short hall past the large sports changing room style ensuite bathrom (shower, sink, bidet, wc, one socket, no hairdryer YAY!) into a large airy high-ceilinged room with double louvre doors onto the balcony. One bed, two wall lamps, two chairs, two bedside shelves, two pillows, two cushions, one glass table, fresh towels and sheets every day, room spotlessly cleaned daily, one home-carpentered built-in cupboard. I love it! I got the bridal suite! The headrest-side wall has been painted pink! Such enterprise. And the square bedside shelves are white. With the white uplights and pink bed cushions it's practically chic! Somebody has had interior decorating advice! Tile floor, white plaster walls, black marble wainscotting at bottom. I shouldn't be telling anyone else about this wonderful place. There's a decent terrace for coffee out front and the restaturant below has been deeded to the son, I think, who makes a superb freshly roasted half-chicken seasoned with lemon, chips or salad that is worth coming some miles for, but not much else on the menu compares. Football on the big screen TV brings in local patrons. (Hotel is only open in season.)
Absolutely dislike nothing. I really could not care less that the soap turns up in tiny sachets and that there is no swimming pool and the folks on the main street outside sometimes make a noise at night. So what! Be grateful for places like this.
Friendly staff, basic hotel
Couldn't get double bed, too noisy during night, no parking for car, nightmare to find a car space.
Close to everything (beach, center..).
