Pros: It felt as if you are staying in a castle. A very well maintained and luxurious castle. Every corner you turn, you will be in awe with the grand and spectacular layout. From the moment you stepped into the hotel to the moment you lay onto your bed, the ambiance and the decor is nothing but jaw-dropping.
Cons: The staff there are not sincere and the overall experience is that they are very cold. I felt that they are just going with the flow. To them, it is just a job. You can feel that they are not passionate about their job. The only compliment I can give is the cleaning lady who was cleaning on level 6 on the 2nd Jan. When we came back, she was the only one who greeted us with a big hearty smile. The location of the hotel is not situated near tourist attractions, at least not within walking distance in my opinion. So everywhere we went, we took the taxi. Beware of dishonest taxi driver. Ensure they will turn on the meter before hopping on. We took a taxi to "Five Avenue" at 13yuan, and when we are done and wanted to hail a taxi back, the taxi driver wanted 30yuan from us.

Cons: Despite advertising that meals were on until a certain time, they actually stopped serving food at the buffet and started clearing away 30 minutes before the advertised end time. On two occasions - one dinner, one breakfast - we had to eat our meal under time pressure and with a far more limited choice from the buffet.

Cons: For an international hotel not one person spoke or understood English. Upon my arrival I ordered a Van to pick us up and take us back to the airport in Beijing. I was VERY clear, negotiated a price (which was the same as we had paid for the same van coming from the airport in Beijing to Tianjin) and confirmed the van and details a second time the night before we left. Everyone I spoke with from the manager to the clerk said yes and confirmed. The day of our departure the driver thought we were going to the Tianjin airport with the help of our Chines host we managed to communicate otherwise to him and the hotel YET again and began our drive. 2 Kilometers later on the highway and 30 minutes late, the driver stops the car and hands me the phone.To my horror on the other end of the phone was the Westin manager who demanded we pay an additional charge for the trip and claimed we specified the Tianjin airport. I explained I spoke and had confirmed more than one time our departure and location of destination by showing my ticket. This back and forth, stop and go went on for more than an hour on the highway. We arrived with 40 minutes before our flight was to took off. I will NEVER set foot in a Westin property again. I will also make sure that my company no longer does business with this hotel chain and will be Facebooking my nightmare. Blackmailing customers is NOT good service.

Cons: It’s... shabby. Nicotine stained and in need of an upgrade. Our room was fine at best, nicely laid out but not clean. Even with good conversational Chinese and even after the bathroom had been cleaned a second time it was still dirty. Hair and mold in the bathroom, zero attention to detail. Common areas were similarly poorly cared for, the carpet by our room wasn’t vacuumed properly, crumbs everywhere. Staff were nice but more concerned with trying to end my polite enquiring and conversation with them than actually trying to change anything.

Pros: The main perk of this hotel is the location, a 2 minute walk from the Italian styled part of Tianjin, and around 10 minutes away from the train station. I was only there for a night but didn't have to didi/taxi to any landmarks, even the Tianjin eye is just a 30 minute or so walk alongside the water. The room was spacious and included a sofa and chairs as well as the double bed. Lovely view of the river from our room too.

Pros: I like this hotel because of its convenient location, right next to the Tianjin railway station and the Italian town. A few minutes to get to the subway station and shopping mall. Breakfast is good, and the service is also very good, the hotel staff showed me some traditional food, so delicious, haha, maybe I'll stay at this hotel again next time.

Cons: There were no real issues with the hotel. During our time staying there. there was a conference of sorts happening in the lobby, but that only really made it a little busier during check in (they were packing up when we left).

Pros: My friend and I (both British) stayed here together. The staff were friendly, there was an English speaking member who helped us when we struggled to understand each other in Mandarin. The room was a great size, lovely slightly larger than single twin beds, two layers of curtains, bright room, lots of lights that you can turn off from the comfort of your bed. The restaurant was okay, a little unclear about room service details as they seemed to stop accepting orders at 9pm, but the food was good value for money and pretty tasty (we ordered dumplings, mapo tofu and fried rice). They were also accepting of our late check in time. They also had amazing menus, a book with recommendations on tourist sites, places to eat etc etc. It was absolutely amazing, especially considering it was 4 stars.

Cons: I book a two bedrooms as i travel for buisness but my brother come along to visit the city, we get inform at check in is 2 rooms but not two bedrooms , one room with king siz bed and one room for a ridiculus office !!! Cons: The room was extremely hot even we turned off the heater and opened the windows. My mom fainted after taking a shower. But the worst was the unbearable foul smell from toilet or shower area. It was so bad that I demanded to change the room, but they didn’t change for us. It was miserable. I will never stay there again.
