10.0 Excellent
Pros: This was by far the best accommodation we have stayed in in Puglia. It was a spacious and very clean and tidy apartment with everything provided, including a washing machine and dishwasher. Pamela was very welcoming and helpful and recommended a good local restaurant for dinner.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Nice combination between comfort and old fashioned building. Very hospitable staff and great location!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Spacious comfortable apartment. Should have stayed longer
Cons: Nil. It was perfect
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly staff Lovely clean room Great location
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful. Multiple outside terrace/patios. great view, a very romantic spot, would be IDEAL April through September. If we plan a summer trip, this would be the place I'd love to stay. They have a lemon orchard , walking to and from the house, you walk under a canopy made from the lemon trees. This is the only B&B that we enjoyed cooking our dinners during our 30-day tour of Italy.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: We needed a place to stay on our way from Sicily to Puglia. We made a reservation fairly late in the day and our host Pamela was waiting for us! Apartment was absolutely adorable. We were able to do our laundry which was HUGE!! Parking was on the street and you have to buy parking ticket but we found parking right in front. Pamela was very gracious and directed us to a fabulous pizzeria Sugo e Basilico which was a few blocks away. We also found gelato along the walk back from the pizzeria “lungomare” (along the sea) which may have been the best we had, which in Italy is a huge complement!!
Cons: It is not really a negative but you are in a residential area outside the old city. For our purposes, worked out great.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Lovely Hostess. Excellent breakfast delivery.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very nice appartment in good location. The buliding and the terrace area was really nice. Perfect communication with the host. Good breakfast was provided at the appartment.
Cons: Everything was fine. Only one minor thing: the bed would need another mattress
Museo - Taranto - Building
3
9.2 Excellent (125 reviews)
Overview Reviews
Set in the historical centre of Taranto, this guest house is located in front of the National Archeological Museum. Rooms here have air conditioning, a flat-screen TV and free Wi-Fi. Affittacamere Museo is housed in a 19th-century town house with frescoed ceilings and antique floors. Shared facilities include a comfortable lounge with a 32-inch TV. Rooms have elegant furnishings and tiled floors. The private bathroom is equipped with a shower, hairdryer and free toiletries. An Italian breakfast is served at a nearby café each morning. Well placed to visit Taranto on foot, the property is 300 metres from the Ponte Girevole bridge and a 5-minute walk from Castel Sant'Angelo castle.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Andrea's wonderful welcome and passion for restoring the old building and looking after us. The location was fabulous for a one night stay.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely place to stay. Plenty hot water, although we had an external bathroom and it needs a little work doing. Not great if you have accessible issues as it's up lots of stairs. Easy walk to the castle and old town. Plenty places to eat lunch or dinner very locally. Had amazing pizza and beer whilst watching Bruce Springsteen videos close by. Plenty cheap parking close by.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Management was right on point, Andrea met us explained how parking worked in the area and gave us his number and said to call anytime if we had problems. We rented the apartment and it was spacious and very clean. There is only street parking and a lot is less than a block away. We had no trouble finding a space right in front of the hotel. Great thing is parking only requires payment for a few hours in the morning and a few in the early evening and as you put coins in the meter it will show you when it will expire, taking into account the schedule. So I put 4 euro in and it paid for the time left that day and into the next morning. Places to eat and drink are basically at the corner. The main walking, eating and drinking plaza is less than two blocks away. Easy to drive into and super easy driving out, which is great as there is lot of traffic in the town. Best of all they like pets! Difficult to find in Taranto.
Cons: No problems at all, great experience.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Very informative staff. Beautiful old features in our room. Period property.
Cons: Street noise at night time, but ear plugs solved this problem!.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: This is a very affordable property, Breakfast is a croissant and coffee in a cafe very close by. The room is in a converted Museum, so very interesting. Our host was very helpful and accommodating and had excellent English. Loved that the main shopping street was so nearby and very busy with wonderful Christmas lighting.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Andrea was very helpful. Showed us a bunch of places to visit. Great location, easy to get in and out of the city and finding street parking was very easy
3.8 Mediocre
Cons: The room has no window, is tiny and dark, there was a very bad smell of moist and dirt coming from the bathroom. The ac is old and does not function correctly. We spent a very bad night. We try to talk about it with the host but hé was too busy and seemed to find all this normal I have one advice for travellers who want to book there : find another place
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Was a really nice stay, the room is beatifull and the host is really friendly
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Great location! Helpful and pleasant staff!
Cons: Loud during high traffic hours.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Andrea is absoluty nice and helpful. Vaults and paintings on the wall are delightfull. Location is perfect to visit Museo, castello, pinacoteca as well as shoping pedestrian street. Breakfast (coffee and backery) is fine. Parking 50 m away from the door (ca 5 eur for half of a day) is perfect.
Cons: Nothing. Everything was perfect.
Overview Reviews
Located in Taranto, Relais Histò San Pietro sul Mar Piccolo is in a rural location, within a 15-minute drive of New Cathedral and Castello Conti D'Ayala Valva. Featured amenities include a business center, express check-in, and express check-out. This hotel has 3 meeting rooms available for events. A roundtrip airport shuttle is provided for a surcharge (available 24 hours), and free self parking is available onsite.
9.4 Excellent
Pros: The setting of the hotel is beautiful - fruit trees everywhere. You can pick your own figs off the trees. The pool area is stunning though the pool is smaller than we had expected. The hotel and grounds are spotless and the breakfast is fantastic with lots of choice. We didn't experience the spa but they did show us round and it was really top class.
Cons: The major setback is the location which is awful. It is on the outskirts of Taranto and as we got near we were really worried as it really feels like a tip. Rubbish everywhere and industrial units on the landscape and an ugly sprawling city down below but in the last few minutes it began to feel a little more rural. Turn down the long drive however and you could be anywhere. You can't see any of that from the hotel. It was hard to shake those first impressions of where we were however and for that reason I wouldn't go back despite the hotel and its grounds being really lovely. The meals were very expensive and only mediocre so we didn't eat there after the first day. There is a lovely little see just near but again there was loads of rubbish everywhere.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The site alone is great. I love the historic buildings surrounded by olive trees. A perfect place to relax. The restaurant is excellent. Perfect location to spoil yourself and find peace.
Cons: If someone wants or needs cool rooms in the heat of summer one should tell the reception along with the booking. Some of the rooms have such a high ceiling, that the air condition does not manage to cool the room down sufficiently.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: It is really fantastic property. Buildings, territory, service, breakfast
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The territory and the interiors are amazing - very authentic and particular. Location is super quiet. Staff is helpful - we had a problem with the room on the arrival day, next day they provided us with 2 separate rooms which was highly appreciated. Service near the pool is amazing, special thanks to Ernesto - a guy with endless positive charisma! Food for breakfast and for dinner was tasty. Reactions of the staff were quick. Rooms were quiet and relaxing.
5.8 Okay
Pros: Staff were exceedingly helpful. Spa facilities were excellent. It has a good feel about the place
Cons: The food wasn’t up to the billing it was given. There was a function (conference) one evening. No forewarning given and the place we were shunted to was poor. In a place like Histo you shouldn’t have to ask for toiletries to be replaced.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: This top masseria offers the very best quality in every aspect. Friendly staff, comfortable rooms, spa and relaxpool, exquisite Puglian restaurant, etc... Doesn’t come for free, but Histò has everything to satisfy your luxurous stay in 5 stars+
Cons: No specific remarks, although for this high standard hotel one would expect some fresh pressed orange juce and homemade jam during breakfast. Maybe a small recommendation?
7.9 Good
Pros: The property is beautiful and feels very rustic with its location in the countryside, Tarranto is a short drive away for those who want to explore around the area. The pool area was nice and relaxed and the guy running it was superb, very attentive and creating a great atmosphere. There were always plenty of beds available and service was impeccable. The exchange service with the Canetto Beach club was also really good and gave us a chance to visit it one of the beautiful beaches nearby and use their facilities. The restaurant meals we had there were also very good and the room we had was very excellent and very spacious
Cons: We had informed the hotel ahead of us staying that we would be there for our honeymoon but no acknowledgment of this was made when we arrived which was disappointing. There were also a couple of aspects that I would not expect from a 5 star establishment - when we arrived we found cigarette burn marks on the sofa in our room and several lights not working in our room. Also the chairs outside on the patio were covered in mould, again not something I would expect in a 5 star hotel given the rate we paid to stay there
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This historic property was fabulous. Our room was very spacious and cool with a superb biiig bed. The bathroom was beautiful and offered a bath with shower over, not just a shower stall. The pool was superb and we didn't use the spa but the pool cafe staff were brilliant and looked after us handsomely. I liked it all! Not cheap and off the beaten track but worth every penny.
Cons: There was only one small hiccough and my own fault really. I ordered a tomahawk steak to share with my wife at dinner. It arrived more bone than meat, still on the bone and with no sharp knife to prepare it. By the time we got it off the bone it had cooled to inedible. They took it off the bill without question but a romanic dinner was spoiled. Rule #1 in Italy. Stick to the pasta and fish but avoid the meat.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely helpful staff who made the hotel luxury and restful. The staff even arranged payment of my parking ticket I received in a local town. Lovely buildings with style.
Cons: Nothing. It was great.

Pros: Nice garden area to sit in. Easy parking.
Cons: Couldn't sign on to Wifi
6.7 Good
Pros: We had a rented car, and it was comforting to park it in their yard. The host was very eager to help, and the checkout was super easy. I've had a croissant with pistachio filling for breakfast, and it was amazing.
Cons: The owner doesn't know to speak English, and it was a bit difficult to understand what he had to say. The soap was not refilled before arriving there, and we finished the bottle before ending the first shower. It's a bit far from the touristic area.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The physical premises are outstanding. The room was spacious and the the common areas were excellent. The quality of the workmanship in the premises is excellent. Leo was very gracious and helpful.
Cons: It’s distance from the autostrada but you could not have the location of the property re the beach which provided a place to rent umbrellas and have the services of an excellent restaurant.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Clean, good location and kindness of the owner.
Cons: Nothing to dislike
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It is a nice well maintained place. I recommend for everyone who is comming to Taranto for work or pleasure.

8.3 Excellent
Pros: Walking distance to the Aragonese Castle and other downtown landmarks. Tastefully renovated premises.
Cons: Rundown neighbourhood in the old island of Taranto. Very difficult to find the place. Not all the rooms look like the one in the photo although the renovations are beautifully done.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great hotel that has been sympathetically renovated in a good location near to train station and old town. Good breakfast, friendly staff. Would recommend.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: We had the opportunity to visit with the owner, Cinzia, and she is so dedicated to her beautifully restored hotel. She was very welcoming and helpful and was like a tour guide of the city of Taranto. The staff was also very friendly and helpful. and gave us a map and locations to see during our one day stay. Parking right outside the hotel was nice.
Cons: Somewhat underdeveloped city that is investing with great potential.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is beautifully restored and clearly the owners have a great passion for the area and its history.
Cons: The area is a little run down but is now being invested in so many buildings are being restored.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Beautifully appointed hotel in a rundown area but excellent. Would recommend to anyone.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: All of the staff were very friendly and helpful, even booking a restaurant for us. The room was very nice and the bed was comfortable. The location was good and within walking distance of many restaurants.
Cons: Nothing.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Nice Location, Comfort room
Cons: The Safe Box didnt work
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Wonderful staff. Great room, great breakfast.
Cons: I would have loved to have a kettle in the room so I could enjoy Nescafe in the early morning hours before breakfast. Would have also loved better internet connection. Internet was adequate, but we run a business back in the US and need 2 or 3 hours of high speed internet to get our work done. It just meant we couldn't extend our stay...and we would have liked to. We loved having drinks and takeaway dinner sitting on our balcony with a view of the piazza.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Perfect for our stay. Loved the duel aspect.

Pros: Location is great! very centered, a room with a view to the port supplies with exquisite landscape of the old city and harbor.
Cons: Did not like the 2 floor room, which are all rooms in this hotel guess, air condition hardly felt on upper floor.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Fabulous location! Ours was a corner room with views of the water from both. Also two balconies. Not too fancy, but the hotel had everything we needed and the staff are helpful and friendly. Easy to walk to the old city and convenient for the more modern areas. Excellent restaurants and a gelaterie a few metres away. (Try the 'Cozzatro Nero' restaurant where Monica will make sure you are looked after.) Parking is on the street, but there is covered secure parking up the road
Cons: Nothing not to like. The breakfast is typical of what is served in Italy (so no fry-ups), but plenty of fresh pasticcerie, fruit and coffee (or tea) made for you.

7.9 Good
Pros: The room view was beautiful overlookjng a private beach, nice decor and clean. The buffet breakfast had a good variety of contential choices. We stayed during the off season however, we could imagine that this resort is very popular in summer and it would be an ideal venue for functions and weddings. A special mention to the security guard on duty who provided exceptional customer service, he was friendly, attentive and when he found my husbands wallet on the ground he brought it directly to our room.
Cons: Sadly for such a new renovation to the room we stayed in, most of the bathroom accessories had not been secured properly to the wall tiles and are already coming off the wall which makes the room less appealing.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The Location is spectacular!
Cons: The Cost should be lower for that time of the year.
9.2 Excellent

Cons: Cooks were late for breakfast. Not enough Drinks for breakfast. The Price for the dinner were experience. For Breakfast no fruits and Vegetables. Breakfast need major upgrade.

8.5 Excellent
Pros: Spotlessly clean Good standard of bathroom Pool area beautiful, spacious and clean Great terrace with sea view Parking plentiful Very few other guests

8.8 Excellent
Pros: really nice staff, great breakfast, wonderful beach, all rooms have a view
7.1 Good
Pros: The room was clean and spacious. The beach is small and lovely, with a quiet and crystalline sea. They also have a big pool area & gardens. The staff was very helpful and friendly, the girls at the reception were very efficient and helped us with all the assistance we needed during our stay. The breakfast waiter was very kind and makes a lovely cappuccino.
Cons: Although the location of the hotel is right at sea offering a beautiful private beach to the guests, there is nothing else around, no shops or restaurants. During the day, only the "pool bar" is working, with a very poor selection of food or snacks- they had basically only ham and cheese baguette with potato crisps. The breakfast selection was quite poor as well, not many options of bread, fruits or juices, eggs and bacon were always cold and we had to request every morning to heat it up, the pastries tasted very industrialized. They also don't offer towels at pool\beach - you have to bring your own.
5.0 Okay
Cons: Rooms are not worth a 4 star hotel. Lizard in the room.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Nice hotel with private beach. Good breakfasts and dinners. We lived in a really big appartment with the kitchen and a good view.
Cons: It was too noisy - loud music all day and night. It was quite only in bedroom. The beach stuff doesn't understand any language despite Italian and couldn't help us to find our place on the beach (to notice, we had to pay for the beach every day), but bothered us all the time.

8.3 Excellent
Pros: Fantastic terrace and location excellent
Cons: Room facilities for making tea coffee poor kettle bike on first use was not replaced
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything to eat at breakfast was very fresh and the choice was very good.W
Cons: We would have liked information about local transport eg buses.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Good, helpful staff and reasonably comfortable.
Cons: Noisy air system- had to switch it off. Bathroom needed some redecorating.
7.9 Good
Pros: The hotel has a terrace with the most magnificent view on the surroundings. The staff is really super friendly and inviting. We used their parking but keep in mind that the parking is like the streets, rather narrow. Don't go there if you have a big car.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Helpful staff in a renovated building in character with the picturesque, if dilapidated, surroundings. Attractive room with all mod cons. Within easy reach of both the (rather horrible) train station and the splendid archeological museum.
Cons: Hard to find on arrival from the train station. Breakfast could have been better, given how much it cost.
6.7 Good
Pros: The room and bathroom were fine, the bed comfortable. But the general feeling of the hotel was pretty dowdy. I would not recommend it. The staff was fine. The parking was terrible although we paid 10 euros for the privilege of spending 30 minutes trying to back into a small space and ended up with a scrap on the bumper based on the staffs' trying to wave us into rock wall surrounded space. Ok for one night put I would have been depressed to spend more than one night here.
Cons: see above
5.8 Okay
Pros: Nice room, ok breakfast.
Cons: Location is dreadful - in the middle of Taranto's old town. Buildings around hotel are in ruins, very low activity during the day, really gloomy at times. Also hotel facilities not available as October is off peak season... for 4 stars not really satisfactory.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely hotel in the old town, friendly staff, excellent central position

7.1 Good
Pros: Room was nice. And the view from my windows was very nice
Cons: It’s in the industrial area. Because of that I was afraid to go the the beach. Even beach is right there
7.9 Good
Pros: Very clean, Good size room, pool was fantastic! Food was good. Staff was generally excellent
Cons: One of the dinner waiters was Basil Fawlty reincarnate
5.8 Okay
Pros: Breakfast buffet and Dinner were good. Staff was extremely helpful.
Cons: Terrible location near the ship docks...I didn't notice that in advance...next time I will look at it on google maps. Outside of hotel by pool area was in bad shape...broken umbrellas, chipped paint.
7.9 Good
Pros: The hotel facility is very nice, clean and comfortable, nice breakfast, very friendly and helpful staff, good location beside sea - excellent pool. We were with our own car, so it was very good decision to stay here because there was secure free private parking beside.
6.7 Good
Pros: The swimming pool is fantastic
Cons: There is the chance to access to the see, but the location is too close to the big city and the see reflects it
6.3 Good
Pros: Staff was nice
Cons: Location , although with a nice swimming pool and facing the sea, there is no access to the beach; a lot of heavy industries in the region
6.7 Good
Pros: Room cleaning and the room layout, comfortable beds, air conditioning, big bathroom, big and very clean pool
Cons: Noise done by endless parties at the hotel. There were rules for the pool written only in Italian language. The pool rules were not followed by everyone. Even if pool access is restricted to hotel guests only some of hotel employee bring their friends at the pool. And even they say that the pool is opening at 9:00 there were days when it was 10:00 and the pool was still closed. In the description of the hotel it is written that there is direct acces to the beach from the swimming pool, but the door was most of the time closed. The breakfast was poor and the same menu every single morning. We also found dirty plates and the tables were not cleaned properly for the next tourist who wanted to eat. The restaurant was unacceptable for a 4 stars hotel (I would give 1 star for the restaurant). The menu was poor, the food not tasty and the plating was missing.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Location, Friendly Staff and accommodation
Cons: Breakfast was not consistent, items ran out quickly and coffee machine was not reliable
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Everything in this hotel was fantastic. Breakfast finished at 9:30 but they would still let you in until roughly 9:45. Plenty of choice and always fresh croissants put out €3 for breakfast if your not b&b. Lunch and dinner plenty of choice.
Cons: Very isolated if you didn't have a car.
6.3 Good
Pros: Cleanliness, nice bathroom . Receptionist was good
Cons: Location, sea was dirty , beach ok . There was a wild fire immediately adjacent to hotel. Pool was ok but the sun beds were in need of attention as the shades were all loose. There were no umbrellas up around the pool. No decent restaurant close by. In the hotel restaurant I was served raw fish. The other food was average. Stuck to meat platters after that. We cut our 4 day stay down to 2 nights as we disliked it so much. Also we were given a room which was for smoking, it stank of smoke . The very competent receptionist changed it for us and arranged to split the bed to twins which we had asked for. I would have thought all hotel rooms in EU were non smoking or at least that I should have to ask to be in a smoking room rather than be just put in one without consultation.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very well located, very clean and efficient and cordial staff attention. Very good restaurant.
Cons: It seems to be a fairly old place that may take benefit from some renovation. Restaurant opening hours are limited to rest of the city’s schedules that are relatively short; so it turns difficult to grab at least a bite out of this times.
