Venue was perfectly located for work. Clean room with comforable beds. The gym/club was surprisingly good for a hotel gym. Pleasantly surprised that it was a separate building to the Manor, giving it the feel of a "proper" health club.
No fault of the venue, but as its going through renovations, did not get to experience the Manor's charm in its fullest. Clearly labelled signs to re-route guests away from the main reception (which was inaccesible). But did get lost on my first trip to my room!
Fabulous pool and spa facilities. plentiful breakfast (on day one) friendly staff clean rooms and comfy bed quiet room....very peaceful and relaxing break.
dinner - overpriced breakfast - first day excellent. second day: no breakfast available to help ourselves due to workmen in that day- had to order the cooked breakfast and was only given ONE poached egg, ONE half a tomato and sausages - looked lost on the plate. Bar: small makeshift bar due to work going on in main foyer area. Room: nightmare to access with bags via the winding, lengthy corridor due to works going on in the main foyer area. Considering all the above inconvenience, I think a reduction in the cost of the stay should have been offered....or a free upgrade.
Very good breakfast and room service. Quiet place. Nice room and bathroom. Very comfortable bed.
They forgot my wake up call. The renovations worsen the inside atmosphere. No good transport connection-only taxis. You cannot walk in the evening because the path from the front door to the main street, where with some luck you can get a bus or sit in the pub, is completely dark, no lights are installed and the way goes through the wood!
It is a shame to say this is and will be a nice place but extensive building work have really impacted on the stay not helped by the make shift bar not having the basics like ice , gin glasses and I couldn’t even get the same bottle of beer fir a second drink !
