South Lake Tahoe resorts

Pros: The decoration of the room is nice. Bed is comfortable. English Clam Chowder is good. The two complementary water bottles in the room were appreciated. The shower gel, shampoo and conditioner are good. The big balcony on the second floor is nice to see the view of the lake. Tulips in front of the hotel are pretty. We really wanted to like this hotel and to give a better review, but we can't.

Cons: 1. Staffs were cold, indifferent and insincere. They could NOT care less about you. NO smile, if not fake smiles. It started from the receptionist lady to almost everyone else. The only two staffs who looked nice, friendly and sincere were low-ranked male workers/cleaners who walked pass us. 2. This property is WAY over-rated! It sounds better in the reviews than in reality. The hotel is much smaller than we thought. The lobby is tiny. The hallway/corridor leading to the elevator is narrow and cramp up. Hard to walk pass each other if you have another person walking by. There is only ONE elevator in the entire building going up to guestrooms. The hotel is NOT located right ON the beach. There is a road in between the hotel and the beach. You have to cross this road to go to the beach. 3. Parking seems to be a BIG deal here. And the situation is not good. The way they do it looks like they prefer you to let them valet your car. If you self-park, you would be told to move your car, from one spot, to another, as that spot you parked earlier is "Valet Only", when actually there is NO sign that says so. If you self-park, even it's still within the property's parking lot, you might have a note that says "Guest Parking Only. Your vehicle will be towed" placed on your windshield. 4. There is not enough bell staffs to help guests with their luggage to their rooms. You have to wait for one of those valet staffs when they are available after parking guests' cars to come and help you. 5. The service charge of 20% is too much, plus other taxes, etc. Too expensive. 6. The room is too small for the price they charge, even for Tahoe. The jet tub of the rooms upstairs and next to ours made crazy noise when in use and while draining. It sounded like a small earthquake going on. You can also hear every single step and action of the people in the room upstairs walking, dragging suitcase, etc. The balcony had a big puddle of urine.

Cons: Front reception could be friendlier.

Cons: 1. There was no hot water in the morning when outside temperature is -8 C and they couldnt seem to care about it.

Pros: The access to the lake is very ideal. I imagine that summer time will be a better experience.

Cons: Some of the staff were not very friendly. The shuttle service, while a great addition, was not very accommodating. Expected better service and rooms for the price.

Pros: The staffs are the best and helpful.

Cons: The restaurant closes early 9.30pm and no other food or drink service late hours.

Cons: I hated the restaurant. The service was absolutely terrible. We waited forever, they got our order wrong, and the staff looked like the waiter looked like he was only there because he didn’t have a better job.

Pros: Location was great, perfect for the lake. Jimmy's restaurant was very nice and the wait staff were great!

Cons: We booked a pet friendly room for our dog, we were told we could only stay on the ground floor next to the lake car park. It was very noisy and the nightly cost did not match my experience. I am a seasoned traveler and this was not good value for money.

Pros: The staff, decor and small, thoughtful touches were great.

Cons: I thought the restaurant, Jimmys, was overpriced for the quality of the food. Menu did nothing for us.

Pros: My wife and I were greeted by the valet/concierge gentlemen right away and were offered a glass of cold champagne! Set the standard for the rest of the stay and they didn't disappoint! Love this place and see ourselves coming here for many years to come!

Cons: Didn't like that my sister in law's room was in a totally different building than ours, but understandable given the layout and they were completely booked that weekend. Also couldn't believe her room was much larger and nicer than our premium lake view king, given our room was $80 more per night. But the view made up for it. After all, it was only for one night.

Pros: Everything! The room was perfect, the views are stunning.

Pros: We love Tahoe Seasons and will only stay there when visiting Tahoe.

Cons: Please return bar and restaurant, 4 star hotel must have these facilities on site. Please renovate rooms a bit and make hot tub working jacuzzi.

Pros: Bed and pillows were comfortable. Himmel House German restaurant a few doors down was excellent.

Cons: We knew the jacuzzi tub jets would be disabled. What we didn't know is that the only shower is a shower head in the giant jacuzzi tub which is surrounded by wooden shutters on two sides and a curtain with a peekaboo gap about thigh-high. ??? For a family to function in that bathroom setup is very limiting and makes the room only okay for very short stay. Sofa bed was uncomfortable.

Pros: Can't beat the quality for the price!

Cons: Jacuzzi tub in room did now work, but there was a disclaimer stating they were renovating.

Cons: Not near lake like advertised, only has valet parking, hit up by timeshare salesman as soon as we checked in

Pros: Great room, quite out of the way and quiet, good facilities. Location would be awesome in winter. Free valet parking. We saw a bear!

Cons: Could have done with a proper restaurant on site though the pub was okay. Might be a bit far away from the water in summer. A loud noise kept me awake all night one night, and a late arrival coach party kept my wife awake the night before. The hot tub was huge but the water was not warm enough and it was noisy. The decor in the rooms had obviously been done recently but was pretty 90's

Pros: A bit dated but the jacuzzi tub is huge, extremely warm and genuinely friendly staff, gorgeous setting and really good breakfast at the cafe. A perfect romantic retreat.

Cons: False advertising, using Heavenly gondola as enticement when in fact it's the California Tram and not Heavenly Village gondola. The Hotel is isolated in an area which is not a "walkable" distance given no street lighting and hills. Air con in room didn't work and was stuck on. Arcade out of the 1980's, No bar service on the 31st of December - New years eve - entertainment was "painting" for the privilege of $35.

Pros: the Maid service was excellent, same with Valet and Bell service

Cons: the restaurant service was TERRIBLE, and the hotel staff claimed they had nothing to do with the resturaunt. Well …. the only people eating there were from the hotel, and it took over an hour to get yogurt & fruit. Others told me it took 2 hrs when they weren't that busy. This is the only reason we would not return to this hotel. Nearest other restaurants are 1.5 miles down the hill.

Pros: Great hotel in the Stateline area. Easy short walk to heavenly and the casinos. Grounds are well kept, including pool and huge hot tub, enough for 20 people. Updated rooms, newer beds and furniture. Big flatscreens too.

Cons: When full, parking gets scarce later in the evening.

Cons: the bathroom was very dated, the shower head pressure was terrible. They did not service our room. The hot tub was about 80 degrees, we asked if they could turn it up but nothing changed. you can hear your neighbors easily.

Cons: It was cold, only 1 of the 2 (portable) heaters worked. It was snowing outside, sooo it was cold. It had 2 TVs, either only 1 worked or I could figure out the second TV.

Cons: There was a dog howling below me for hours making it hard to fall asleep. And there were a few hairs in the tub when I checked in and went to take a bath which is sort of gross!

Cons: The hotel is in need of a lot of restoration. It was much potential to be as good as it was when it was Embassy Suites. Pool, carpet, interior ceilings and walls. Outdated suites and furniture.

Pros: Gorgeous hotel, excellent service, beautiful, beautiful room. The beds were a little uncomfortable especially the pull out sofa bed. But other than that everything was fabulous.

Cons: Beds were too bouncy, we could feel every move. Sofa bed was murderously bad.

Cons: The bedroom curtain had a large rip. I let the front desk aware of it. No one came to replace the curtain. Disappointed, no dishwasher. The room was to hot and lowered the heat then too cold. Resort needs some updating. Hot tub too small and not hot enough. No water pressure.

Pros: The location was perfect walking distance from everything and the wine & cheese evening gatherings and the breakfast was great. Also, it was nice to have covered parking. I like they offered gifts instead of daily room cleaning service.

Pros: It is directly across the street from the Heavenly Ski Resort Gondola but not even that is worth staying at such an outdated, poorly maintained, smelly, old suite. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

Cons: Pretty much everything. It is old outdated, smells horrible in the suite. I would not be surprised if they have a serious mold issue. It was poorly maintained and dangerous as the walk ways were icy it had been days since the big snow.

Pros: The location. Lots of restaurants and shops within walking distance.

Cons: Not sure how this hotel can call itself 3 star. The rooms were very old, bed was extremely uncomfortable and it felt like an earthquake every time someone closed a door elsewhere in the floor. Did not sleep well at all.
