Overall, Capella is a luxury brand and all the staff are doing very good service level. Continuing my "What didn't you like" (continuing point 3): we were changed to a same type of room at 10:30 pm, and nobody apologised to us about what happened and we just went in like we demanded the change of room for no reason. The staff has no expression and nobody did any apologising. This is very unprofessional. 4. DOUBLE CHARGING BREAKFAST! We booked breakfast in advance and the amount has been deducted. However, upon check out, the bill shows that the breakfast bill was charged twice. And the reception did not spot the mistake, and it was me who found out, otherwise I would have been penalised. This is serious mistake and the staff should have noticed it! This is common sense that we only stayed one night and we can't be eating two portions of the Knolls breakfast!!! Overall, very disappointing experience since we paid quite handsome money for a villa staycation. Won't go back to Capella Singapore ever again and we told our friends the same thing.
BUT... There are too many things to complain about my staycation with Capella Singapore this time. I have been staying with other Capella chains and the Singapore Capella is the most disappointing experience, despite that Singapore should be the home brand. 1. I informed the hotel more than one week in advance that I will bring my doggie to the hotel, and I get email acknowledgement on that to prepare for the pet amenities. However, upon check in to the room, I don't see the pet amenities set up. I asked the staff about this and the staff who showed us the room also did not know anything about our request, so she said she would check on this. After half an hour, I still do not hear anything, so I called the operation again to chase for my pet amenities, and there they came. The whole communication is time consuming and did not reflect the appropriate service level. 2. Disappointing in-room dining food. We ordered in-room dining dinner so that we can company our puppy. However, the food was so below average. the Wagyu beef is not tender at all and it's over cooked. All the food (including the pizza, steak, bread, chicken wing) is COLD!!! For the bread selection, they did not provide butter or anything else for us to spread on. The pizza is so dry and cold that I thought I was eating at a closed down pizza hut. The food really disappointed us. 3. POOR FACILITIES MAINTENANCE! I was showering and the drain was blocked. I wasn't realising this and after the shower, I saw the water all over the bathroom and even went into the bedroom. The floor was so slippery and anyone can just fell down accidentally because of the water all over the place. We called the housekeeping to fix the issue, and the technician told us this is very hard to fix as it is very choked. Then I advised if we can change room because of the slippery floor, then the technician called house keeping to arrange that. I thought this advice should be something the hotel should have provided...
The guest relations experience before arrival - they even helped me create a special birthday welcome for my husband as a suprise. Thank you Minami and co. Excellent amenities and villa quality. Small touches like kids dressing gowns and slippers. BRILLIANT breakfast. Electric curtains and blinds. Nice outdoor bath experience. Perfect pool temperature and stunning pools. Incredible laundry service with specially wrapped laundry with lavender bows. Jenny our room maid was fantastic.
Poolside menu was limited. We booked the 2 bed villa as were travelling with 2 young children. However it is not as you imagine. The bedrooms are actually in separate villas which meant my husband had to sleep with 1 child in one villa, and myself with the other child in the other villa. For safety reasons we certainly would not leave the kids in a villa outside with its own entrance. Families should really understand the floor plan well before booking.
The staff's friendliness was one thing but their attention to detail was absolutely incredible... it was my partners birthday and we were celebrating at the hotel. I had requested flowers for our room but that was it... However, they surprised us with cakes and bedroom petals, and the list is endless... The hotels ambience is almost meditative and was a pleasure every minute of the stay.
