The staff were rude the room was small smelly and dirty
The entertainment in the evening.
I booked a family room. 1 double bed and 2 singles. The room I was provided with was 2 single beds pushed together and then the staff brought in 2 camp beds as singles. I think this is a great case of false advertising on your behalf and I'm not happy about the sleeping arrangements provided. I hope you look into this matter as a priority as I am getting advice from trading standards on this matter.
The view from our "Executive" triple room was the best thing about the hotel. The Grand was once grand, it's history is something to admire.
The staff really didn't want to be working there that was obvious. The waiting time to check in was ludicrous we returned 3 times in 3 hours and it still took 45 mins to check in. The hotel is old and dated, the carpets are filthy, as are the walls, and general areas. It's just not loved at all. Furniture in bedroom was mismatch, the wardrobe in our room was used as a storage cupboard - good job I didn't want to hang any clothes. The hotel is overrun outside with seagulls the smell of seagull poo is disgusting wafting around the place. Although we had a wonderful view from our room, the seagull glue deterrent pots along the window edge were disgusting - full of stubbed out cigarette butts and chewing gum not pleasant to look out on at all. The Grand Hotel is a wonderful building, but is so unloved it's sad to see... such a wonderful building but truly no one seems to care about it, the staff really can't be bothered many people were complaining. £100 per night not well spent.
Friendly staff and the feel of an older style hotel
Having to queue with all the coach parties there should be separate checking in areas.
Location is second to none The history of the hotel is well worth looking up
As you would expect with a buildings of this age and type the work and maintenance is on going but we cant say it interfered with our stay Parking is not ideal but there are car parks within easy walking distance and you can unload at the main hotel door
