I liked Erry and Harry, they were pretty personable and really helpful. I also liked that I could cycle around on one of their bikes.
Erry's Guesthouse was a very comfortable place to stay when in Sapporo. The staff were very helpful, and made breakfast every morning! The location was good, with plenty of restaurants and the like around, but a bit of a walk to the heart of the city. The Guesthouse is super homey and clean. There was no curfew, and we could use most of the appliances around the clock.
Erry, Harry and Joao really did their best to satisfy their guests. Even bringing me a portable fan but can't be plugged in cause there was no extra socket on my side. I had to open my window a wee bit because the room was warm but the fresh air bothers the other Asian guests knowing they're coming to Sapporo, they should have brought their flannel pajamas. This is where I disagree with Erry. If the Asian guests are cold, then give them a warmer blanket. Somebody who is warm can't do anything else but sleep in the nude which doesn't help as there's no fresh air and the cubicle gets stuffy, and the curtains can't completely covers ones privacy. Anybody can see through the gaping holes of the curtains which were loosely hanging from its frame.
On my first few days, I didn't have a good impression. I had asked for a clear and precise instruction on how to get to the guesthouse as I don't have a cellphone. But didn't received their email up to the day I have left for Sapporo. Erry and Harry were on a Sabbatical Leave and left the management of the guesthouse to two inconsiderate female staff. The bidet was not set up for warm water for several days until Joao appeared, and I was denied the use of the ground floor toilet by those two females. There was an urgency to the matter but they still insisted that I used the 2nd floor toilet when there's one on the lower floor for a fact which I didn't know at that time. Even Joao questioned the big WHY? I also wasn't told that I need not buy ice cubes from the convenience store as they have them in the freezer instead of keeping quiet about it and laughing to themselves. Then going to 7-11 one night, one of the females insisted on accompanying there then left. I didn't mind actually cause I already know the way, but on her return, the female staff had turned off the red signal light of the guesthouse. So when I went back, I didn't see the red light and I thought I was lost. I retraced my steps back to the 7-11, and then realized, NO, I wasn't lost just that there was no light at the guesthouse to guide me in.
I felt it was like a home sweet home. Everything was clean and arranged well. It was good to stay with family.
I was visiting with friends for Sapporo’s Yuki Matsuri and used the guesthouse as a home base for the night. Very clean property and helpful staff. The free breakfast was a nice touch.
The property itself was a little hard to find. It’s very much tucked away, but only a few stops from Sapporo station.
