Cons: Tour groups
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful timbered old building just up from the central plaza of the very quaint and unspoilt village of Santillana but also with a rural outlook to the rear. Loading and unloading possible from space at side of building, with longer term private parking downhill below the property. Helpful and friendly staff. Great breakfast choice with real muesli, fresh fruit and local cheeses amongst the offerings. Our room had access to its own glazed balcony with table and chairs to read, write postcards, etc. There was also a communal lounge area on the landing outside.
Cons: It was all excellent.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location with plenty of restaurants nearby. Staff were extremely helpful and they even put our battery bikes in the hotel. We commented on the high standard of cleanliness. Breakfast was a delight.
Cons: The bathroom but was informed they are now closing to up grade bathrooms.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Nothing can beat starting a day with breakfast at Casa del Organista terrace especially in good weather. Such a fantastic view and great selection of food. Rafa, the owner is very pleasant, funny and caring. One day we followed Rafa’s suggestion of where to visit, which driving route to take. We made a fantastic itinerary to go around beautiful coastlines and coming back through valley side. Those villages Places stopped by were all charming and some with breath-taking sceneries. In those restaurants he recommended, we had one of our best lunches & dinner. Coming from the country with rich gastronomy culture, the quality of food is very important for us, and this made us super happy. He also explained the history of the farm house and how each rooms were used back in the old days. Very interesting. We stayed in a room with a terrace. The size of the room is rather small but comfortable enough. There were selections of pillows (hard and soft) which is good. Some people commented about the noise, but the neither the church bell or rooster didn’t distract or wake us. It sort of blended in as part of village sound. Location is superb. Within few steps you will be in the main square. We also liked the spacious car park, nicely designed and enjoyed waking the lovely path connecting the car park and the house. It is a beautiful old farmhouse converted to a charming hotel with lots of care. Location, the charm, (free) car-park, breakfast, view, comfort all are ticked! Truly recommended!
Cons: nothing.

Pros: Great location, beautiful building. Close to the seaside and Altamira. Nice room, lovely breakfast with good coffee.
Cons: Bed was very hard and the bath was in the bedroom.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: It’s a beautiful hotel, lots of character and a short walk into the old town.
Cons: The shower doors had rust and needed renewing and the jacuzzi pump on the bath didn’t work, otherwise we lived the room.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: A beautiful, clean and family run hotel within 5 mins walk of the walled town of Santilliana del Mar. Our room, on the front, overlooked a small park and grass area. Rooms are spacious with a fridge and safe, also a spa bath although we preferred the shower. Breakfast was a help yourself feast with the usual meats, cheese, cake fruit and more, and excellent value at 5eurospp. The medieval town is sadly over run by coach tours during the day, even in October, but mainly returned to the locals and a few remaining visitors come evening. I didn't have any problems with English as mentioned before and all the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Only 20 mins from Santander port this is an excellent stop off from the ferry.
Cons: Unable to think of anything.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Old, traditional building, nice staff.
Cons: Probably it´s because of the building, but noises from next room/corridor can be experienced. The room had only a small bathtub (with massage function) but no jacuzzi (was visible on photos in some rooms).
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Charming Old World property tastefully furnished. Pleasant staff. Spotlessly clean. Centrally located. Excellent breakfast.
Cons: Limited menu, no evening meal available. We arrived to torrential rain and had to leave the hotel to eat.

Pros: we had a fabulous stay. Unfortunately the jacuzzi bath in our room was not working but everything else was great particularly the staff who were all very courteous and helpful making our stay very memorable
9.6 Excellent

Cons: No lift so we had to carry our cases up stone steps from the car park and up wooden staircase in entrance hall.

The bed was very comfortable and there was plenty of space to put clothing. The bathroom was large and even had a magnifying mirror. Free parking is available at the hotel. The receptionists, Marta and Elena, were exceptionally helpful. They gave us excellent recommendations for things to see and restaurants to try. The housekeepers kept our room sparkling clean. Breakfast is served in a comfortable dining room and for six euros each, it was a very good deal. They had bread, local pastries, fruit, tea and coffee, a hard-boiled egg, muesli and yogurt.
Cons: I have no complaints. We stayed 10 nights and I would recommend this hotel to anyone.

Pros: The building is amazing. Room big. Bathroom well set up. Location fantastic. Friendly staff. Tasty food.

Pros: Paradores are always great to stay in but this one was a little dificult to find, more sign posting would help
Cons: Sign posting to the hotel
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Located in a fairly rural area, with pleasant hills and lots of sheep, the town of Santillana del Mar where this old Parador is, is one of the most beautiful villages in Spain. The site is very well preserved, and has all the comforts of a modern hotel. Good beds, comfortable rooms and good bathroom. The Parador is very beautiful and worth staying in, if you want to know not only Santillana del Mar, a beautiful medieval town with cobbled streets, but you want to know the cave paintings of the Altamira Museum, which is very close, about 6 minutes away by car.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Delightful hotel very welcoming staff, just around the corner from the town, great stay.
10.0 Excellent
Cons: The hotel restaurant has a very limited lunch and dinner menu. One evening being a Sunday no other restaurants were open in town so we ate here for dinner. Sad when "gyozas" are on the menu and they are prefrozen. Also the other items were very limited. I spotted the cook frying a piece of meat and asked what it was. it turned out to be a slice of veal. So apparently we could order this. Not on the menu however. Unfortunately it was like shoe leather and served cold along with some type of fried potato also cold. Considering some of the amazing meals that we had enjoyed in Spain this was a great disappointment. I feel that the hotel restaurant has a great potential to serve much better lunch and dinner meals. Sometimes it is really nice not to have to leave the hotel in search of a restaurant for a meal. For breakfast we only had the croissant and coffee. The full breakfast looked very substantial and a nice assortment of items. The waitress Christina was excellent and also the reception staff were very friendly and helpful.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Modern hotel in a old world town. Staff was amazing, breakfast was delicious. Even the parking was decorated and amazing. Bed was super comfortable and the rain shower was one of the best ive ever showered on. 2 min walk from the old town. Stay here!

Pros: Everything
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff were very helpful and friendly. The room was very well appointed and very clean. The bed was very comfortable. The location was great for the ferry port at Santander. Will definitely return.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The room was unbelievably comfortable. We had arrived, having had a very difficult experience and needed comfort and security. We got it in bucketfulls here. The staff were brilliant, breakfast was excellent. We travel in Spain often, and will definitely make a point of staying here again.
Cons: Nothing - everything was brilliant
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Modern and beautifull design. Staff was very helpfull. Location is perfect. Very good breakfast. We felt like at home.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: kind helpful staff found me an appartment when hotel was full
5.7 Okay
Pros: close to the town
Cons: The bed is not comfortable, is the most important for hotel
6.0 Good
Pros: The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful; everyone spoke good English. When we asked where the bus stop to Santander was, they kindly provided us with a print out of the timetable. There is free parking on-site behind the hotel. The hotel is only 3 minutes walk from the medieval town centre. We didn't try the hotel's breakfast or dinner; but for breakfast I can highly recommend the corner bar that is on the way to the centre right at the big tourist parking opposite the tourist information.
Cons: The "double" bed was extremely small and not comfortable at all. Our feet were hanging over the edge - my boyfriend and I are not overly tall so I guess you need to be quite short in order to sleep in them in comfort. Also, we only had one pillow to share, but they provided us with a second one upon request. The reception is supposed to be open all night long, but they just leave the hotel door open and your room key on the reception desk. What might seem handy at first, is in fact very dangerous - anyone could walk in, take your key from the reception desk and burgle your room! Therefore I recommend not to leave the key with the receptionist. Overall, considering the low price, the hotel is still "good value for money".
5.7 Okay
Pros: Welcoming and friendly reception. Good location of hotel at walking distance of the center.
Cons: The hotel is situated along a pretty busy road so go for a room at the back and not on the ground floor- where the parking is. We changed rooms after day 1 because of the noice (and that of the kitchen airco at the outside wall). The hotel in general is pretty noisy as you can hear doors close and the reception phone ring. Bathrooms are good, room decoration pretty basic but ok I guess, though you would expect something extra special as the village is lovely. Breakfast seemed pretty basic but ok for the price I guess.
5.3 Okay
Pros: As we needed to leave the hotel around 8:30 a.m. next morning, we asked the receptionist to prepare the breakfast just before 8a.m. They kindly prepared it.
6.4 Good
Pros: Excellent location for old village and also good parking facilities. Easy access to all routes.
Cons: Windows on ground floor bedrooms left open after cleaning, poor security.
7.2 Good
Pros: Very friendly & helpful staff. Very clean. Well positioned for the old town, cafes & bars, tourist attractions (Caves, museum) We were able to walk everywhere.
Cons: The close proximity of the police station (almost opposite) meant that our car keys did not always work. Something to do with a radar device to prevent the remote detonation of explosive devices! Not the hotel's fault though, and they were quick to explain the reason, preventing a garage bill. I would also suggest that this "problem" does at least make this hotel a safe place to stay!!!
7.6 Good
Pros: very nice staff which try to help with very poor english... nice room, clean and confort. parking place. the location in a nice area. the breakfast is basic. good value for the cost.
Cons:
8.0 Excellent
Pros: It was very peaceful and we liked the decor.
Cons:
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel and location were brilliant in a lovely area. Delightful
Cons: There was not anything we did not like. The only recommendation would be more brochures / info on the area

Pros: Lovely parador. Great breakfast, they had everything you needed. The weather was atrocious when we were there and we were able to park our convertible car in the garage which was brilliant. Fabulous little town with lots of character.
Cons: The only thing I would criticise of all the parador hotels is that they don't have tea and coffee making facilities in the rooms.
6.0 Good
Pros: Glorious old building, central location, lots of seating areas.
Cons: Low lighting, not able to read! Uncomfortable beds and thick hard pillows. Unopenable windows and no control over the heating. A hot and uncomfortable night.

Pros: great location for a one night stop over before going back to Santander. functional and good value for money - only a ten minute walk to a wonderful medieval town with great restaurants. good pastries at breakfast.
Cons: no tea and coffee facilities in the room - bar closed at odd times through the day, but we did get coffee when we asked. garage parking for motorcycles offered, but the access was far too steep and slippery for heavy touring bikes.
6.7 Good
Pros: Rooms are comfortable
Cons: We booked a massage session because we wanted a relaxing experience, but the massage was awful
7.1 Good
Pros: We got moved to a room with a small terrace which was much nicer
Cons: The room was very normal and next to the road. The spa should be included or at a discount for guests. The parking should be free

9.0 Excellent
Pros: It exceeded our expectations ( especially based on previous reviews). Exceptional value for money. Comfortable, good size room, short walk to town, useful staff, quiet location. Had dinner ( prix fix 15EU) again value for money, good service, nice terrace.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: I liked the covered terrace and the open air feel.
Cons: Not much choice for Vegans, and if there were options then labelling would be helpful, this isn't just at your hotel, I found this an issue throughout Spain and Portugal. My room had a patio terrace which was lovely, however the person in the next room to me seemed to be out there well past midnight and scraping chairs and coughing so this kept me awake. I was going to say something but eventually he/she went in.

Pros: Secure parking for motorbike. Lovely Spa. Good evening meal. Allowed us to use facilities after check out as evening sailing from Santander. Spotlessly clean.
Cons: Air con not really working
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely hotel in a perfect location to explore the local town and area. Staff were friendly and helpful. The food in the restaurant was very tasty and very well presented. The spa bath in our room was definitely worth having after a long day travelling.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Very well presented historic style hotel with Brill spa facilities. Furthermore great breakfast and not too far away from the old town. My partner particularly liked the many motor bikes displayed throughout the hotel.
Cons: You can't have everything in life but would have been nicer if not on the main road and was in centre of town, but Hey!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The room was huge and beautifully equipped. The swimming pool and spa were excellent.
