The Staff was very friendly from Valet to Front Desk to Cleaning staff. Great vintage hotel, with elevator to match...takes awhile for it to travel 4 floors...slow automatic door with a gate to slide open, little hard to juggle w/suitcases, but it adds to the charm of the historical building. The hotel location was great, right on State Street next to it all. Nice farmers market on Tuesday's that starts at 4:00 right outside your door. Shops and restaurants up and down State Street. The Beds were very comfortable and room quite large (had 2 queens) I peaked inside other rooms with one bed and they appeared much smaller. The room was very quiet - no noise from neighbors, we slept great. (We were on the top floor, so not sure if those below could here us). Cookies in the lobby in late afternoon and continental breakfast in morning. All in all, a great stay.
The continental breakfast was sub par. Standard, hard boiled eggs, waffle mix you make yourself, muffins/bagels, yogurt & fruit & cereal. Walked across the street to Hal's diner for a standard diner breakfast which was good. Also Starbucks on the corner.
Location for sure. Also the historic nature of the hotel. Room was spacious. Valet/secure parking was a bonus.
Minor complaint was the sound of the old Otis elevator that transmitted to our room. It did not keep us awake at night but we did hear it throughout our stay. Even more minor complaint was small bath sink, seemed like a vanity table was missing from the bathroom?
The yogourt could be better quality. For example Chobani brand
More natural, less gelatin
Hotel staff took their time to give directions back to the hotel due to the Fiesta Parade road blockage. I loved the lift!
Room was unexpectedly small and not much space to maneuver, but otherwise, it was very lovely.
The history was awesome and so was the view. Bed was SUPER comfy!
Breakfast was the really only let down. Seating was hard to come by ( I stood while I ate ).
