The traditional breakfast was so good. Those beans were to die for. I loved that the hotel had traditional Salvadoran candies and other goods to buy. They were very reasonably priced. We were there when the Christmas decorations went up and they were amazing! They use all local goods to make them. They hung them from the mango tree inside and also from the tree outside of the hotel. The hotel is beautiful and the trees are amazing. One morning at breakfast, a humming bird was right next to us. The room was comfortable - I could smell the jasmines each time I entered and exited.
So I normally ask a lot of questions about where I am staying because I like to get suggestions about where to eat, any local things to do, etc. I think the staff could have been a little more knowledgeable. That being said, the staff were incredibly friendly and they did provide me with ice when I needed to ice my knees from a very intense hike which left my knees aching.
This has to be one of the nicest hotels I've stayed in - not in a grand way, but as a small, friendly place. It is indeed very green, beautifully decorated, very clean, comfortable beds, excellent breakfast in the garden,. All the staff were friendly, both in communications before we went and whilst we were there. We were at a conference at the UCA, and for that purpose it was ideal. They offered to organise a taxi for us from the airport, which was great and very helpful and saved a lot of time. If I ever get the chance to return to San Salvador, I'd want to stay here again.
It's in a great location for the UCA, but it seemed a fair way from downtown, so that might be a disadvantage. There are not that many restaurants around, though there are enough, and some good ones too. Where our room was was mainly pretty quiet, but some rooms may be a bit noisier, from the traffic.
