It’s very clean Close to most area around and very close to freeway
Absolutely TERRIFIC staff. This is the most important factor because it’s the path to an easy and satisfactory resolution if ANY issue arises. Unfortunately one did, but they were awesome.
Despite the public areas being spotless and in perfect repair, a number of small details in the rooms belie the property’s age. Small spots of missing paint, peeling wallpaper, a loose thermostat revealing a hole in the wall, a shelf broken off in the shower, inconsistencies such as some rooms thermostatically controlled, others being controlled at the window unit (despite having the same thermostat). Another item is a policy, apparently, of room refrigerators being turned down as rooms are reset, meaning the fridges take some time to cool down for use, and then only if you know to look for and adjust the controls. I am a relatively easy guest. I don’t typically require much in the way of facilities. I have only a few “musts” for hotel stays. Reasonable parking (10), clean rooms (10), reasonably comfortable beds and pillows (10), competent staff (10), and maybe the single biggest item...quiet. Unfortunately this last was a big failure. The problem involved an either poorly designed or poorly maintained HVAC system. A large ventilation fan serves a “stack” of rooms between floors. The one adjacent our first room was noisy and could be heard in the room as an uneven rumbling (imagine a big truck idling outside) and produced a vibration that could be felt in one bed. There was no way sleep was possible. Fortunately there was another room available. In that room there was no vibration felt, and the noise, while present, was mostly heard in the bathroom and controlled if the door was kept shut. Still audible, but not to the point it interfered with sleep. (At least partially because I travel with a fan I sleep with. Absent that sound, I don’t know how someone else might have fared. The fan on the room AC refused to stay on despite being set that way.) On one hand I may be particularly sensitive to this problem. On the other hand the maintenance man was familiar with “the issue.” I can’t imagine where we would have been had there not been another room available.
I liked the coffee maker and small refrigerator in the room. The bathroom toiletries were very nice. Bed was comfortable.
The bathroom had no exhaust fan, so it steamed up and you needed it bad! Pillows were not good on the neck, too soft. Also, it would have been nice to have had complimentary continental breakfast. They have a breakfast buffet, but you have to pay for it, not included with your stay. There were no vending machines and there was one ice machine on the 3rd floor. They had an area in the lobby to buy snacks, but would have been more convenient to have vending on each floor.
Clean, bright, and professional appearance. Staff very helpful and engaging with my children
A bit challenging to get to, as not right off an exit from highway
Clean and quiet. Close to everything we wanted to do without the rowdy crowds.
I paid for a balcony room. I had a view of a roof! It was useless. The staff even knew what room, #214. They said they felt bad for people who stay in that room but didn't offer me anything to make it better. They know it's a waste but still charge extra for it. I was on vacation with my son so I didn't make a big fuss, but if they know that's a terrible room, do something about it.
