Beautiful authentic family run hotel in a perfect spot just within the town city walls. Lovely owners who couldnt do enough for us. Great location and great sized family room. Breakfast was great.
The staff was very friendly and served us a lovely breakfast in their dining room. We had plenty of room for our family of four.
Location is excellent. The Plönlein is just down the street right around the corner. My family took a load of photos at different hours of the day every time we walked past the site, just couldn't get enough of its unearthly magnificence. The hotel is also close to the town wall where old Die Gerlachschmiede is situated and a children's playground stands right outside the entrance gate. Watching my kids climbing up and down the wooden facilities of the playground, raising my gaze against the surrounding walls and towers was one of my fondest memories during my stay in Germany. The hotel breakfast was delicious. Coffee and hot chocolate were served at the table. The dining room had a quaint atmosphere where people tend to speak softly while admiring its décor and settings. Parking was fairly easy, had to reserve in advance with a small charge. The only problem was that I had a bit of trouble finding the right door to knock on when we arrived! We were the first set of guests perhaps, showing up a bit early in the afternoon, so the garage door that leads to the front desk of the hotel was not yet opened for the day. I fumbled around the flowery bushes outside the building, knocking on all possible doors, tried turning some doorknobs hoping no one would think that I'm a trespasser! Open sesame. The host was kind and informative. Gave us a map to help us start our tour around town. Our room was spacious. Extra single beds were real beds, not sofa beds, equipped with reading lamps.
The bathroom I suppose, a bit outdated. It's an old house in the heart of an old town, what can I say. The shower was small, water runs all over the bathroom floor easily. The sink faucet was meant to be a decorative piece of art, however, I didn't favor the smell of brass left on my hands every time I turn on and off the water. The Buddha picture hanging above the toilet was a bit creepy for my boy. He said it felt struggling to have a divine God staring down at him when he's doing his thing XD There's a pungent stench in the room, not at all bothering though, as I'm used to all sorts of smells in Asia. The smell of vinegar? The smell followed me to my next destination when I opened up my bags. Whew! I'm back in Rothenburg ob der Tauber! XD
The location is perfect, in the old city. very good brekfast. confortable beds. big room. clean. friendly host gave as the tip for the night watch tour wich was amasing.
Great location, spacious rooms and great breakfast. We enjoyed our time in Rothenburg and would definitely recommend.
