An utterly unique boutique hotel with incredible views of the city and bags of charm. The location is a little off the beaten track, but for those with a more adventurous nature it is the perfect choice within the Santa Teresa Hills. We would highly recommend Uber - it is very cheap and accessible allowing you to explore and head into the city and return to The Villa with ease. The rooms are fantastic and all have their own character.
The only improvement would be for the rooftop bar to be utilised more. It is currently only used for breakfast and there is no onsite food or drink available at all any other time of day. It would have been nice to be able to relax inn the bar and order drinks in the evening.
We loved our stay in Rio De Janeiro. As a couple this hotel was the perfect romantic getaway for us. We stayed in the Superior Room with Terrace and the views from the balcony were amazing! After reading a few recent reviews we were a little worried as people were saying the room etc did not look like the pictures on the site, and also that the balcony doors did not lock and their room felt insecure, however this was not the case! Our room was beautiful and clean and we felt very safe, the doors and windows all locked securely and the view was just out of this world! We also had a little trouble paying for our stay as initially our payment was blocked by my bank, however the Villa were very understanding and patient and helped us pay on the second day of our stay no questions asked. The staff went above and beyond for us during our visit, we arranged to be picked up at the airport on our first night which all went very smoothly and we didn’t have to pay until the end of our trip, the owner John helped us to get a SIM card for our phone by having someone drive and translate for us, breakfast was beautiful and the lady that served us was lovely, and the manager let us keep our room until 7pm on the last day of our stay as we weren’t due to fly until the evening free of charge!
Unfortunately the location of the property is quite out of the way. Uber is very cheap and easy to use for the most part, but we did have a few drivers refuse to drive us home from more touristy areas at peak times. We also had a little bit of a language barrier when we first tried to check in as we don’t speak Portuguese or Spanish and our driver had to translate who we were to the man at reception who was refusing to check us in at first, however after the misunderstanding was ironed out he was very nice and incredibly helpful despite the language barrier!
We stayed in the master suite and I could not recommend it more highly! The most unbelievable view, teamed with a balcony, hot tub and gorgeous room & bathroom! We were going to stay one night but extended our stay! The pool area is beautiful and breakfast is set at the top of the villa overlooking Rio. Jean and Sergio were fantastic hosts and even allowed us to extend check out due to our flight time - thanks so much guys! We would absolutely return, and couldn’t recommend The Villa more highly. Also the ladies who were serving breakfast were so lovely! It is very remote, so do bare this in mind, but we Ubered everywhere as it’s SO cheap (20 min drive - £3 maximum)! Just an all round amazing way to spend our last few days in Rio.
They didn’t serve food and drink during the daytimes when we were there - it would be good to have a small snack bar of some sort available to guests as it is very remote, so it’s not like you can pop to a shop! However they were opening the restaurant on our last day there, so I wonder whether this will provide that!
Fantastic view and location. The room was beautiful and luxurious with an incredible balcony. Very peaceful and full of character. Very professional and friendly staff
Takes more travel to get places but uber is easy
The view is spectacular. The breakfast rich and the lady that prepares it is lovely, available and super smiley.
Little details to be fixed - e.g. cannot close balcony door and the air conditioning in our room was a bit leaking.
