Wonderful breakfast with great variety: fresh fruit, orange juice, ham and cheese slices, baguette, sweet bread, yogurt, and coffee. The location was excellent, within short walking distance to the Botanical Garden entrance, and the Tijuca National Forest is just up the road. Beautiful, safe neighborhood with a view of the Tijuca forest and Christ the Redeemer statue (3rd floor). Very friendly and hospitable owner! Marcos and Monica were very friendly, and made several great suggestions for places to dine and see. The room, although cozy, had everything I needed, including a nice HD TV and a new air conditioning unit. Uber rides were very reasonably priced, and the local bus (#409) can take you to and from downtown for about $R 4.00 -- very cheap. Restaurants of various types are within a short walk, with more within a 15- or 20-minute walk. I especially liked the vegetarian restaurant, Prana, about a 20-minute walk from the front door. I might recommend trying an açai (pronounced "ah-sah-EE" locally) shake at the restaurants BIBI or Mega Matte.
While the size of the room and accommodations suited me fine, a larger person might request a bigger room.
The hosts were lovely, the location was fantastic, and the hotel was perfect for our needs. All of the host's recommendations were helpful, and the three restaurants within 100 meters were amazing...
The host Mareos is amazing!! He is super helpful and friendly. If I had any questions I could reach him on WhatsApp. My room was a private single room and it was as expected: clean, a little small, comfy for a few days. Plus outside my door I Had a view of Christ the Redeemer statue! The place is in a nice neighbourhood with some good restaurants in walking distance. I really enjoyed the food at JOJO. Felt quite safe as well. The place is not in walking distance to the beach so I took quick Ubers everywhere. Since I wasn’t spending all my time on the beach it didn’t matter to me a whole lot. Since I was sightseeing places like sugarloaf and statue of cristo they are in different locations so you probably have to take uber anyways. But if you plan to spend everyday on the beach probably not the location for you, ipanema might be better. I had woke up for breakfast one day and it was good and tasty! Juice, coffee, eggs, fruits, bread etc. Thanks for the great stay!
Marcos the owner was friendly and really helpful and kind. He gave us lots of good advice. The location is great. We felt like we got to taste a bit of real Brazil.
That we couldn't drink the water from the taps, though to be fair we were given a small jug each day in our fridge.
The most friendly welcome by Marcus, got a tour of the neighborhood and its a great place to stay when vising the botanical gardens
