The location was not too far from the beach. Restaurants and Supermarkets close by.
There was no shower curtain in our bathroom, so everything was flooded. The kitchen is very small, fridges were super full, so cooking was a mission as there were many people always cooking at the same time.
The staff at check in were less than welcoming and no information was provided unless prompted. We were also locked out of our room as there is a traditional lock on the handle that isn’t in use since new locks have been installed and a key is needed for this. The handle lock is however not disabled and since many hotels use this as the only lock we automatically pushed the button when leaving the room. It turns out the hostel staff don’t have keys to the original locks and we had to wait for an hour for someone to come and open the door. We had nothing with us at the time as we had just returned from the beach and whilst waiting in the hostel reception lounge nobody offered us any water or asked if we needed something. Fortunately it happened in the late afternoon and not late in the evening, but with the heat it would have been appreciated to get a glass of water. Anyway, nothing major, just a suggestion to perhaps disable the original locks, tell people to not use them, and be a little bit more attentive to the guests
Location was great.
The breakfast was non existent - nothing had been replenished (no coffee, no butter, no milk etc) and there was still an hour to go. The room was pretty run down and there were dead silverfish in the bathroom when we arrived. The staff were ok but often you felt like you were interrupting them. There were not many places to stay in Punta Del Este at this price so they had a captive market
It is possible to walk to the beach from the hostel.
I check in and got a bed in a 10 bed dorm just as I had booked, I went between the hostel and the beach all day, then when i wanted to go to bed, the staff had given my bed to another guest and 'forgot' to tell me, that I had to move into a different dorm, so i had to find out by a guy sleeping in the bed i was assigned, an all my stuff was just mover around by other guests. The staff have had a million of chances to tell me during the day, so i could have moved my things and avoid have to find my stuff inbetween other guests mess. Noone want others to move there stuff, never! The hostel need a update, there is big holes in the walls and floors, and the doors to the dorm need to be changed to new ones. There is not really a wibe here.
