Great location and excellent value. We were upgraded to a larger room with a balcony, which was nice.
Rooms were older. Poor sound insulation. Mattresses were quite firm, but we got used to that after about two nights. Shower took a long time to get hot. The hotel provided two bath towels only. An extra hand towel and a bath rug would have been nice, as the bathroom floor got quite wet after showering.
the location was excellent.
basic hotel. we got what we expected.
Very good and friendly front desk and cleaning staff
Elevator didn't work. Repair man came into my room while I was out with no notice and removed the fan blades for painting. I had opted for no cleaning that day. When I came back for my nap, I complained to the front desk staff that no one should enter my room without prior consent. They seemed puzzled and the blades were replaced.
I have stayed at the Hotel Marlyn 3 times now. I love the location just a little bit away from all the crowds and yet only a 2 minute walk to the Malecon. The front desk staff and the ladies that clean do an amazing job and are always smiling. I feel welcome and remembered.
The elevator didn't work and all those stairs can be a real workout. There were a couple of days without hot water.
Location, location, location, I love this area, so staying at the Marlyn worked well for me. Because I live in Canada, eating and drinking in the street is limited to summer, so generally I was up and out the door. Excellent access to many little bars and restaurants, as well as the Malecon. Check in and out was easy, never ate in the Restaurant cause it's tucked inside and I wanted to be outside. The shower worked great and hot water was reliable which is hard to get in this price range. Good value for your Pesos!
I would appreciate an in room coffee maker, even if I had to buy my own supplies. Also a Do not Disturb sign for the door. I had a few late nights and at 9 am the Maids were trying to get in my room and clean it. Sometimes I just like to sleep in a little, don't want to feel obligated to leave.
