Featured amenities include a business center, limo/town car service, and dry cleaning/laundry services. Pros: Great location, beautiful views, good beach, pristine water, lovely friendly staff, great swimming pools, good food in the restaurants. Awesome swimming teacher, Andrea. The breakfast was good for Italy. Nothing was too much bother.
Cons: The rooms needs a bit of a revamp. The bathrooms and walk in wardrobes were v small for the price compared to other top notch hotels we have stayed at around the world. Also a Nespresso machine and tea making facilities as a standard feature would be nice and maybe a welcome drink/snack/fruit/chocs etc.... When you are paying 1000 euros a night for a family room, expectations are high. The hotel had the feel of slightly faded glory. The first time we ordered room service, they brought us sachets of oil, vinegar, salt and pepper instead of bottles and mills. Not good enough for a 5 star hotel. To be fair they didn’t make that mistake twice.... They also need parasols on the sun beds around the pools, so you can watch your kids in the shade.... 14 euros for an apérol spritz....
Pros: The location of this hotel is so beautiful. Even though we only paid for a garden view room, they upgraded us to a sea view for no cost. The staff is all bi-lingual and very friendly - we especially found the waitstaff to be great. Carlos at Reception was exceptional - he got us a taxi from the ferry and was very helpful. The room was lovely and comfortable, my only quibble was that there was no iron and the hair dryer was very poor quality. But when you are staying a t beach who really cares! The beach and a pool were exceptional. My mom and I spent the whole day gassing out at the amazing views and had a delicious lunch at the swim up bar in the pool. It was exactly the R&R we were looking for. The food at any of the restaurants at the resort was delicious - including the breakfast. The last night we ate at the main dining hall as everything else was closed for dinner, and while we grumbled a little about having to get dressed up, the food was worth it! We did the pre-fix menu with the salad and dessert buffet, and it is well worth the money. We had a grand time and savored every bite. The last thing I will say is that although the restaurants are great, be forewarned that there are no other places to eat outside the resort if you don't have a car. The resort is on the other side of the mountain so you can't get back to Portoferrio without a taxi, and we didn't want to pay $25 euros for a cheaper meal. But other than that it is exceptional!
Cons: The resort is very secluded so don't expect to go elsewhere once you get there if you don't have a car. I would have liked more casual beachfront options for dinner and a little downtown to do shopping.
Pros: The view, the restaurant & the BBQ! Very clean.
Pros: Exceptional hotel, staff and location. Couldn't ask for more. First class
Pros: Beach area is fantastic. Amazing location. Really relaxing vibe to the hotel. We had the 4 course dinner in the restaurant which we thought was fantastic!
Cons: No tea/coffee facilities in the room would expect a nespresso machine which is pretty standard these days. Although we had some very good service, especially in the evening restaurants! We dined at both. I would say the staff give off an unfriendly vibe in general. Could have more people by the beach. 1 server for the whole beach is quite poor. Travelling in September a lot of close by restaurants were closed for the season.
Pros: Superb amenities and location. Excellent staff + service, superb.
Cons: Bathroom not great. Terrible closing loo seats. Should be soft close for 5 star hotel. Silicone around Bath.. poor. Tired paintwork around doors. Otherwise perfect + very clean. Lack of privacy between balconies on bedroom terrace.
Pros: Nice hotel, nice location but living on it's reputation. Needs to be improved in certain areas such as restaurant options that are not all expensive.
With a stay at Hotel Biodola in Portoferraio, you'll be just steps from Arcipelago Toscano National Park and Biodola Beach. Featured amenities include a business center, dry cleaning/laundry services, and a 24-hour front desk. Guests may use a roundtrip airport shuttle for a surcharge, and free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: Beautiful bay views. Allocated beach beds.
Cons: For us the stay was ruined by our initial welcome (or lack of it!) we arrived around 7pm after a days travelling to be told we couldn’t eat in their restaurant as my partner didn’t have long trousers! This was not stated on their website nor were we warned about this prior to our stay and was the reason we Initially chose this hotel over Hermitage. We were offered toast in room service! This meant every evening we had to walk to the nearest restaurant (which were just as miserable and poor food) or drive out - which we happily did just to get away from the uncomfortable atmosphere at this hotel! The rooms were small, hard beds and flat pillows. Breakfast was good food but ruined by the amount of wasps around. Not one member of staff made us feel welcome. Completely up their own arses! Also the resort is quite restrictive, not much to do. Having visited other bits of the island there are far nicer places to stay.
Pros: Lovely staff. The most beautiful location I've ever seen. The beach was clean and glorious with your own sun loungers, towels provided. Very relaxed atmosphere
Cons: There could have been more information in the room regarding food. Dinner especially. A menu would have been nice and alternatives if you did not want anything too formal. Some bathrobes would have been nice too,
Pros: Very friendly staff Good location Great Beach Food was very good
Cons: Service was quite slow and at dinner we were never offered dessert or coffee etc Suddenly all staff had disappeared
Pros: AC unit worked for first 15 min, then then it just blew warm, smelly air. When I complained they said "Usually we do not turn on air conditioning in May". For a 4-star hotel to tell this to the guest is unacceptable. The temperature in the room did not drop below 24C Boring breakfast, fixed dinner menu. 2.5 star, no more.
Pros: The property in general was fine. Staff seemed kind and the room was clean. Breakfast buffet was ok, not extra rich though. Sea is nice, clean. Having a private beach is also an advantage.
Cons: The main problem was the location of the hotel. We had b&b in order to experience the local food at the restaurants nearby. But, forget about it. There are around 5 restaurants at the Biodola bay and none of them are good. You have to drive to the city center/or other bays but we didn’t have a car and the last bus to turn back to hotel was only at 19:30. It’s not possible to walk since it’s really hilly. Additionally, the hotel has interesting regulations. It was not possible to enter to the swimming pool before 9:00 and after 19:00. It’s really early!!! The sun was shining! It also happened several times that they cleaned the room with “do not disturb” sign. Also, keep in mind that you need to pay for the towels at the beach. Only the umbrealla and sun beds are included in the hotel price.
Cons: The bird tapping on my window in the morning
Pros: Location and food was fantastic. The beach beautiful and the chairs they provided free with umbrella were very comfortable. The views were unbelievable.
Cons: Hotel should provide towel rack. Customers were placing their towels over the railings. It really took way of the beauty of the hotel.
Set in the hills overlooking the Gulf of Portoferraio, Santo Stefano is a historic country house offering extensive gardens, panoramic views and a restaurant serving Mediterranean and Tuscan cuisine. Rooms are set in the main building or in separate smaller ones scattered around the grounds. It features a TV with satellite and cable channels, private bathroom and views of the bay or valley. Breakfast at Santo Stefano Hotel is buffet style and is served on the terrace during summer. Guests have free WiFi in all areas as well as free parking. Hotel Santo Stefano is one kilometre from the sea and 5 minutes' drive from Acquabona Golf Club. The port at Portoferraio for ferries to Italy's mainland is 15 minutes away by car.
Pros: wonderful hidden location! in the middle of nature with stunning view on portoferraio bay. Very beautiful terrace, cosily furnished, beautiful well kept Garden. I've had a single room, with own bathroom, which was small but absolutely sufficient for my purpose. Breakfast was very good. I certainly can recommend the hotel and I myself will stay there again, for sure...
Pros: Beautifully located, with lovely view over Portoferraio. Very relaxing atmosphere. It was very special to have breakfast on the terrace with harp music playing in the background. It was the perfect holiday feeling!!! Staff was really friendly and accommodating. Dinner at the restaurant of the hotel was always nicely presented and tasted delicious. Our room was comfortable; we had a lovely view from our terrace.
Pros: Great location, great service, possibility of dining at the resturant (high value for money), very kind staff.
Cons: Proximity of our room to the kitchen (a bit noisy in the morning).
Pros: Spectacular view, kind staff, comfortable room, great breakfast
Set in a peaceful area just 7 km from Portoferraio, this family-run hotel features an outdoor pool set in a large Mediterranean garden. All bright rooms come with satellite TV, a 2-minute walk from Schiopparello Beach. Sun loungers and parasols are provided on the terrace around the pool at Hotel Tirrena. The surrounding area is ideal for hiking, cycling and horse riding. Elba Golf Club is just 2 km away. Staff can also organize guided mountain bike tours. Rooms have classic furnishings and cool tiled floors. Each includes a private bathroom with toiletry set. Wi-Fi is free in public areas. Breakfast at the Tirrena is a buffet of freshly baked cakes, sweet pastries and fruit preserves. The on-site restaurant serves traditional dishes from Elba, as well as homemade pasta. Ferries from Piombino on the Italian mainland arrive at Portoferraio Harbour, and the journey takes around 50 minutes. Marina di Campo Airport is a 25-minute drive away, and parking is free.
Pros: the peaceful locations and gardens
Pros: Only positives about the hotel is excellent breakfast, nice garden and pool. But more negative points.
Cons: Check inn unfriendly, not at all accommodating, during the day time the different receptionist was friendlier so was night receptionist. Room even tough the only one with a side view of the sea was very small could not even bring in a suitcase.2 single beds of 60/180 was very unconfortable. stayed 3 nights with the same sheets, towels were tea towels couldn't dry properly out of the shower, had to bring or buy your own pool towels.Indeed a 2 star hotel. This should be noted in the brochure. Due to next door construction works , were not able to have a sleep inn they started at 07.00, with heavy machinery. windows had to be open for air, while no aircon,( i know not normal for 2 -3 * hotels) but october has fresh nights, still need the window open. impossible for the summer with over 37C temp. Was stated 3 star hotel but at the hotel it showed 2 star. Stated also in publicity 3 min. walk from the beach, but didn't say that beach was a non-usable beach, rubbish, everywhere, broken boats, area where beach is not cleaned up. also not possible for walking. Area was the wine area and more agriculture then facilities expected . For this and being october price was to high in consideration other 4 star hotels in the area. Will definitely not return.
Pros: The pool and the gardens were lovely. The breakfast wasn’t very good as was the dinner.
Cons: The bathroom had an odour
Pros: Quiet place, close to the beach. Pension staff really helpful. Nice swimming-pool, good and rich breakfast. You can rent a bike directly in the hotel. It is easy to reach Portoferraio in a few minutes by car.
Cons: In the summer days we would appreciate the air-condition, it was rally hot in the room, mainly during the night.
With a stay at Hotel Mare in Portoferraio, you'll be next to a golf course, just steps from Arcipelago Toscano National Park and a 2-minute drive from Ottonella. Featured amenities include dry cleaning/laundry services, luggage storage, and laundry facilities. A roundtrip airport shuttle is provided for a surcharge (available on request), and self parking (subject to charges) is available onsite.
Pros: The location, sea food, sunsets
Pros: Superb view and location
Pros: Very friendly staff in the reception, easy to park just outside for free, good breakfast, very clean. The second room we stayed in (top floor with a sea view) was much nicer than the first: it seemed recently refurbished and the bed was comfortable, and the view from the balcony was fantastic. Nice pool.
Cons: Noise from other rooms was easily heard. The service in the restaurant was not very good. We stayed in two different rooms, the first (bottom floor) had an uncomfortable bed and was rather worn out. The private beach was not worth going to (especially not when there are so many nice beaches close by).
Pros: Beautiful tranquil waterside location. Welcoming and efficient check in. Cleanliness of rooms. Satisfying evening meal and included Belfast. Good value price.
Cons: Having to leave.
Pros: Loved the quiet picturesque location. Ideal. Food was excellent and varied. Waiting staff were so attentive and efficient. Great little pool and private beach couple of minutes stroll away. Cobbled seabed ( bring your beach shoes) but clear clear warm water. Beautiful sunsets. Fell in love with this place. It is a little remote but if you don't have your own transport there is a hotel shuttle / for small fee /and public bus service available.
Pros: It was clean, the bed was firm and comfy and it was quiet and calm. Just what we needed. We stayed out of season but it looks like they have facilities for children and a sailing school. Within 15 to 25 minutes we were in easy reach of most of the best beaches and sea side towns as well as Portoferraio, which wasn’t really worth the trip.
Pros: Above all I liked the perfect location close to the sea and the very friendly and good staff. Also the hotels pools were nice.
Pros: Lovely swimming pool which was pretty quiet during the day as everyone seemed to go out on day trips. We had a big balcony at the far side at the top so it was quiet and we had a great view. Nice restaurant but book your table during the day for the evening.
Cons: Last boat from Portoferraio was 6.30pm. There was only one restaurant in Maggazini which belonged to the hotel so no choice but the restaurant was lovely and had great live music one evening. Rooms are very basic so it was expensive for what you got.
Cons: the food
Pros: Very nice staff, gorgeous location, decent to excellent food, clean rooms, value for money, peace and quiet, a pleasant pool with lots of loungers, and some enchanting ducksin the yacht harbour who liked to dine with us - the restaurant is on the quayside. They were all drakes, except for one female who turned up one day with three ducklings. There were also two quite seperate ducks from that lot, a black one and a white one, who were clearly deeply in love, were always together and performed an intricate mating neck waving ritual every now and then. So as well as a lovely setting there were things going on! And then there were the other guests.
Cons: Not really, although maybe thehotel might run the occasional minibus to town should there be punters wanting to use it. Travelling by boat to Portoferraio was terrific, and takes about 30 minutes, but the day the weather stopped it coming (too choppy) presented a problem for non car users like us, But the hotel did take us and others to town in their mini bus so they solved the difficulty. The location is OK during the day for getting to and from, but if you take half board, have lunch, and decide to eat in townin the evening - because there are loads of nice places - getting back means a taxi,....and even a car would not help because one woudl be insane to drink and drive on Elba's roads. The island needs a better bus service actually.
Pros: The restaurant was very good (a la carte at least). Very clean rooms. Could have good sea view but we had tree view.
Cons: Very poor children facilities and the beach was unuseable. Car was a must.
Pros: Everything was great! We liked it a lot. Especially the stuff was friendly and very helpful. The location is about a few steps by the sea, so we felt the sea breeze with hearing the waves all the time.
Pros: Staff were welcoming and helpful. Food was simple but fresh. Sea view was beautiful.
Cons: It was a little chilly at night and the room wasn't heated, or at least I couldn't get the radiators to work. Staff did provide an extra blanket though! Also, not the hotel's fault, but there are no buses and the taxi collectivo is infrequent. Standard taxi costs over 20 euros to Portoferraio from Magazzini and there is no way to walk.
Pros: Quiet but central location and stunning views - being right by the sea. Reception staff and our waiter exceptional nice.
Cons: The dining room which needed suttle lighting given stunning views and more willingness to allow resident guests to sit outside on the terrace [although we were 'allowed to'].Candles inside and out would give perfection to the setting. Maitre d could be friendlier.Perhaps a proper Bar with sitting area would have been good.
Located in Portoferraio, Hotel Villa Ottone is a 1-minute drive from Arcipelago Toscano National Park and 12 minutes from Portoferraio Port. Featured amenities include a business center, limo/town car service, and express check-in. Guests may use a roundtrip airport shuttle for a surcharge, and free valet parking is available onsite.
Pros: Where time stands still- literally! beautiful place just a bit outdated for the modern times.
Pros: First of all I want to say what a great host Valerio was, always with a smile and eager to share information. Anytime we had a question he had the answer and did this with much enthusiasm! Thank you Valerio! Great breakfast and the Anericano Bar was the best!
Cons: Unfortunately people from the free beach were sneaking into the hotel property pool for a swim, this is not right.
Pros: The staff was very nice and helpful, especially in suggesting nice places to visit and good restaurants on the island.
Cons: The place is really charming, but feels a bit old and shabby. Even though it brandishes 5 stars, it doesn't really feel like it.
Pros: Everything, the nicest and most beautiful i have ever stayed in.View to die for, make sure you take a room at the front of the Villa. Private beach, big pool, supercomfy pool beds, beautiful large grounds with tennis court, not far from the ferry port.
Pros: The property was quaint and full of character but with the right amount of luxury. The staff were so smiley and great to deal with. The free breakfast exceeded expectations. The sunset was breathtaking. Beach chairs could be reserved. 10-15 min drive into town made this s good location for us.
Pros: I am person who usually like to move, discovering new place but when I stayed in this villa I was so relaxing that didn’t want to go away from place of villa!!!! Silent area, good small comfortable gym, good view to Faro, amazing view to sunset and sea, clean rooms!!! I want to come back actually!!!
Cons: Lunch dishes (may be I was not lucky in choosing food)
Pros: Location and gardens
Cons: The room & restaurant product are really tired and need total redo, bot to be considered a 5star hotel but more a 3star
Pros: The staff and the food. Charming hotel with beautiful rooms for drinks and food.
Cons: Maintenance in the garden, and in the Hotel. Expect more stuff in the bath room like body lotion, conditioner in small bottles.

Featured amenities include a 24-hour business center, dry cleaning/laundry services, and a 24-hour front desk. Guests may use a roundtrip airport shuttle for a surcharge, and free self parking is available onsite.
Cons: Beach side is very small and stony, absolutely not suitable for swimming. Pictures make false impression that hotel have nice beach side.
Pros: Excellent hotel, but the restaurant staff not so much! They seemed bothered and upset most of the time. The bartender was awesome and always served with a smile as well as the front desk staff.
Cons: The restaurant waiters. Not welcoming at all.
Pros: The hotel has a beautiful pool, also some sunbeds nearby on a small beach area. It was pleasant to stroll beside this. Food was good, staff friendly and helpful. Room more than comfortable. Only problem was the hotel was so nice we did not want to leave it to sight see!
Cons: Would have been nice to have coffee served at breakfast instead of self service. Don't recommend the scrambled eggs!
Pros: Breakfast Good ! Situation and facilities perfect. Clean, friendly staff. Rooms a bit depressing.... not charming.
Cons: Upgrade of the rooms and the bathroom
Pros: Very delicious breakfast, big room and even bathroom, nice staff, conveniently near the port and a good spot to travel around island.
Cons: Nice beach but probably because vicinity of the port the sea isn't very clean, so don't expect a jump in. There is a nice pool instead if you like a lot of kids. Pool toilets should be cleaned more often, they were beyond words at out stay there. Also white lobby furniture and grass beanbags are far from white and inviting and the pond in front of the hotel looks very deserted. Don't get me wrong, it's a nice enough place but with a bit more care and put some thought in it, it can be great. Oh, one more...please mow the grass after 9, on holidays we like to sleep in sometimes.

Pros: Beautiful setting with view of sea in distance. Easy free parking, short drive to restaurants and seaside town of Portoferraio. Very friendly and helpful front desk personnel. Lovely dining room and terrace for good breakfast. Highly recommend!
Pros: Beach nearby. Nice staff.
Pros: Location is good and the staff is nice
Cons: Too expensive for the quality . The room shouldn't cost more than 70, 80 euros maximum. We paid 118 per night for a very basic room. We had to pay to rent a beach towel. For the price we paid they should provide that service for free.
Pros: Nice hotel near a small free beach & few minutes walking from the city. Great service and comfy level, especially good and rich buffet breakfast.
Cons: Our budget room window was directly opening to a wall (the lower level of a garden), don't choose budget room if possible.
Pros: The location was peaceful and nearby a beach. 15 minute walk required to get to the center.
Cons: When we arrived the elevator was broken and they didn't manage to fix it during our 3 days staying. We were at the 2nd floor and had to carry our heavy bags ourselves up and down. Our room was very warm and after asking for someone to inspect our Airco the receptionist friendly replied that they turned off the airco in the whole building because it was not warm anymore at that moment... (September 26-28°)
Pros: Nice friendly staff, reception 24h, very nice place = value for money, near center of Portoferraio
Cons: nothing to tell here
Pros: Fantastic friendly helpful staff on check in.
Cons: We came down for breakfast at 930 and most of the food was gone. We were told breakfast was on until 1030. But it packed up at 945.
Pros: The friendly service by all . Clean
Cons: All good
Pros: The hotel offers a very relaxed atmosphere, friendly and competent staff, wide selction of breakfast items and a convenient location.
Cons: The soundproofing between rooms was somewhat lacking. The noises included the hair-dryer, the extraction fans and the flush from neighbouring bathrooms. The room were a little damp.
Pros: was clean , free parking , big terrace, flower
Cons: poor breakfast, cost rooms
Pros: The room has a nice terrace with sea view
Cons: The interior design of room and corridors need to be upgraded. TV needs to be changed
Pros: Fantastic staff! Okey breakfast but would be better with some eggs and less sweets.
Cons: THE BEDS!!! We could feel every spring in our beds. Buy bed topp or change the beds.
Pros: The beautiful sea bathing with easy access to La Paduella beach through the hotel garden.
Location in a panoramic position 10 minutes' walk from Portoferraio centre, Villa Ombrosa has a private beach you can use for free. The terrace offers great sea views. Villa Ombrosa is in a quiet, unspoilt area by Le Ghiaie marine reserve, and has its own gardens. Nearby, you can try snorkelling and scuba-diving. Rooms at Villa Ombrosa come with satellite TV, air conditioning and Wi-Fi internet access. In summer months, a parasol, a changing room with shower and 2 deck chairs at the beach are included per every room. The Ombrosa's restaurant serves typical homemade cuisine.
Pros: The personal touch of a family run hotel. The garden with plenty of seating in the shade: never any pressure on sunbeds! The excellent meals: great value.
Cons: Tiny private pebbly beach, but plenty of sunbeds and the sea was crystal clear.
Pros: The sea view was lovely. Comfortable room
Cons: Neighbours dogs barking very early in the morning. Staff could have been more helpful and welcoming both at front of house and in the restaurant. Balcony very small. Shower cubicle tight. Pebble beach.
Pros: The staff were great, friendly and helpful. The location is excellent, close to the centre but quiet. The breakfast was very good. A really lovely stay. Recommend
Pros: Right on the beach and if you have a seafront room with balcony the view is mighty fine. Also just around the corner from all the town’s action and ferries but without the noise. The hotel also has its own private beach with deck chairs.
Cons: Quite a small room with an extremely tight shower so if you’re of a larger size you may well find it a struggle.
Pros: Location is good and central for a beach, and easily accessible for town or port sides of Portoferraio. The staff are exceptionally kind, friendly and efficient. It was a pleasure to stay there. The rooms have all you need and are very clean. The breakfast buffet is welcoming, the cakes delicious. Compliments and thanks to the team there.
Pros: Fully-serviced hotel with comfortable and well-equipped rooms, excellent dining room and friendly and competent staff. I have stayed there several times and there is nowhere else in Portoferraio that gives as good value for money or such a good guest experience.
Cons: Just one minor point was that the light in the room wasn't bright enough to enable reading at the desk and there was no desk lamp.
Pros: Good location
Cons: This hotel was terrible value for money I paid a lot of money for a tiny room Bathroom window didn’t open He had a garden / road view with works being done early morning and it was noisy The TV was fixed high up on wall and dad found it difficult to hear it unless volume was high and it disturbed neighbours so he could not even watch tv in his room and he had to join the common room Meals were in the garden and birds would fly over his head Overall I would never ever consider rebooking this The staff was awful to my father and the room was terrible I paid a fortune and I feel it was an utter rip off
Pros: Great view and excellent breakfast
Cons: Bathroom was good but as usual with the Bidet its a bit cramped. Shower takes a little time to warm up but its very hot here so not too much of an issue.
With a stay at Residenza Sant'Anna del Volterraio in Rio, you'll be near the beach, just steps from Arcipelago Toscano National Park and a 2-minute drive from Spiaggia dell'Ottone. Featured amenities include a business center, a 24-hour front desk, and multilingual staff. Planning an event in Rio? This residence has facilities measuring 646 square feet (60 square meters), including a meeting room. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: The grounds and buildings and scenery was spectacular...
Cons: The people next door had a baby that was very loud....little sleeping for us for the last night. Very annoying and disappointing for us....
Pros: This is a beautiful place with the best swimming pool I have ever encountered at a resort. It is perfect for serious swimmers. However the little bay is an easy walk and the hotel has complimentary deck chairs as part of the deal. This resort seems almost exclusively run by women and they do a tremendous job. They are helpful, thoughtful and endlessly cheerful. This is our favourite resort in Europe.
Cons: Nothing, it was all perfect, including the weather.
Pros: The building was fantastic! The hotel was really near the ocean but the swimmingpool at the hotel was not that bad either. The surroundings was beautiful.
Pros: A residence was really nice with nice and helpful service and many opportunities for families (for example: cooking and pool for kids). Ideal to have a breakfast outside with a beautiful view.
Cons: The furnitures were a little old and the bathroom need to be renovated. Other than this everything was clean and cozy.
Pros: Beach, parking garage.
Cons: Dark rooms, one bedroom had just one tiny window, poor furniture quality, cold children's pool (sea was bit warmer), closed reataurants during lunchtime, no food store nearby. In the building was parking but unlogically our parking space was in the oposite parking lot. One of the biggest disappointments so far. Pictures on the website contradicts the reality. Overpriced for what we got. We decided to leave this and stayed elsewhere.
Pros: Friendly staff, beautiful surroundings, very basic apartments. The restaurant on site is lovely as are the few restaurants near the beach.
Cons: Very remote so a car is a must.
Pros: The property per se and the location are absolutely stunning. The buildings have an unique architecture and are located in some amazing gardens - very very special surroundings. The pool for adults also looks amazing.
Cons: The apartments of the residence are really really basic, not to say poor. The kitchen is equiped with the basic things that one might need, but all the furniture is old and rundown. We had a really hard time using the bathroom which looked extremely used and badly mantained.
When you stay at Hotel Scoglio Bianco in Portoferraio, you'll be near the beach and steps from Arcipelago Toscano National Park. Featured amenities include complimentary newspapers in the lobby and luggage storage. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: A room overlooking the sea, with splendid sunsets.
Cons: Room was missing air conditioning, but the staff provided us with a fan so all was OK.
This charming hotel is set in Elba Island. There are a total of 48 bedrooms at San Giovanni. Those who dislike animals may enjoy their stay, as this establishment does not allow pets.
Pros: Perfect place for those who come with a car and want to explore the island. All basic facilities, good air con, balcony, nice and sunny pool to chill.
Cons: There was a very, very loud and noisy youth party one night - we haven't been noticed about that event before and we couldn't sleep even with earplugs.
Pros: Accomodation was very nice and dinners, breakfasts were delicious. I was satisfied.
Pros: One lady the does day-time reception was very nice, she speaks English and is friendly. Not the grumpy woman behind computer she does not even try to talk English, not nice, not helpful, passive aggressive.
Cons: Everything said on the property is a lie. It does not have a restaurant (where you can eat on daily basis), the is no wine tasting on a winery, no hot springs, not close to ferry, no people that understand hospitality and customer friendliness, tv not working "oh sorry the maintenance guy has gone home I cannot do anything" , breakfast dude does not let you eat at patio so your forced to eat inside, poor breakfast service (why can"t these people not understand the first thing of the day is breakfast and SMILE for once!), poor breakfast choices-you will get a cappuccino but with a long face and a huge sigh. Did not get daily cleaning. Coffee bar open after 10am, why???
Pros: It was a place to stay.
Cons: It was extremely dated, dingy, and overall would not stay here again.
Pros: They are so friendly and simply. I also like the dinner that they offer and live music every Wednesday.
Pros: Private entrance to our studio, comfortable bed, close parking
Cons: Kitchen was in a wardrobe (therefore it was tiny) and the freezer was not working at all.
When you a stay at Hotel Danila in Portoferraio, you'll be near the beach, just steps from Arcipelago Toscano National Park and Biodola Beach. Featured amenities include multilingual staff and laundry facilities. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: The proprietors and staff are tip-top. The food excellent and location out of this world. Just could have done with a bigger bathroom. This is my second visit and the bathroom this time was just too small.
Cons: See above.
Pros: The location was excellent. Good for local bus and onward journeys to see rest of island by public transport.
Cons: Being English and Vegetarian did pose one or two problems and being shown to the incorrect room on arrival (which was such a beautiful situation) and then being told the receptionist had got it wrong did mare our arrival a little.
Pros: Great location close to the beach. Very helpful staff and great view
With a stay at Paradiso in Portoferraio, you'll be on the waterfront, just a 1-minute walk from Arcipelago Toscano National Park and 8 minutes by foot from Sansone Beach. Pros: Good location, easily accessible
Cons: The customer experience was influenced by a couple of factors which could be improved by the hotel management. The policy of seating in the hotel restaurant is quite rigid, and often it doesn’t really make sense, having the sole implication of degrading the pleasure of the stay. Even if the restaurant is half empty, customers are sent to their “pre-assigned table”, which may be in the corner of the restaurant, behind a wall, with no really enjoyable view. The waiter/waitress stated that it was not possible to use one of the other many empty table since then “the towel needed to be changed”, which is something that needs to be done anyway. A note is that Air Conditioning is not included, and is provided upon payment of an additional fee. It is something that it is indirectly stated in the hotel facilities, but worth mentioning.
Pros: We loved the private beach that the hotel offered. It was such a special addition, and was relatively quiet most of the time. We shared many moments there, and for this reason alone, we would definitely come back to the hotel.
Cons: Some of the staff could have been a bit nicer. The man at the front desk could have been more friendly, and showed a bit more enthusiasm. I appreciate we didn't speak much Italian, but it would have been nice for him to be more friendly. That makes a guest feel more welcome. The rest of the staff were all very nice and friendly. However, as much of our interaction was with this man as the front of staff, it made us feel uncomfortable to ask for anything.
Pros: Dinners in restaurant were great at a fixed price
Cons: The extra charges for air conditioning
Pros: Great beach
Cons: Room a little dark
Pros: The view from the terrace is great, also the kitchen is nice. Having a private beach is really convenient.
Cons: A net for mosquitoes could be installed. It was not possible to keep the door open in the night, without being bitten by them.
Pros: Great position, very friendly and helpful staff, room with nice size and very clean. The private beach was a plus and reveal to be a great service as the other surrounding beach were often very crowded.
Cons: Dinner served at pretty limited times.
Pros: Access to private beach. Beautiful view.
Cons: They charged us $2 per beach towel. We had to request for air conditioning. Refrigerator did not work.
Pros: Breakfast and evening meals were good. Staff were friendly. Great place to ocean swim except for Jelly fish larvae! Rooms were clean and comfortable.
Cons: Everything was at additional cost. i.e had to pay for beach towels, sun chair plus umbrella separately. No Wi-Fi except in designated area and was of poor quality. Not all activities were available. Had to ask for aircon as the controller were kept at reception. Location was a bit far from town.
Pros: Beautiful location, with friendly and helpful personal. The beach is amazing, real paradise. We will come back soon

Pros: The breakfast offerings. The beach access. Location is perfecto. A couple of the staff speak very good English and are very helpful.
Cons: The mattress was hard. I’m a side sleeper and it hurt. The dining tables have plastic flowers. Better to have none in my opinion. A lift would be nice too.

Cons: The wi fi was not very robust. Kept stopping transmission at any time and it took time to start again

Cons: Bathroom. To small and prone to condensation.
