Excellent 10.0
Pros: The food.
Cons: The toilet paper was like sandpaper.
Good 7.5
Cons: Initial room was on north side of hotel next to fire department and a loading dock. Nocie room, terrible location in hotel. Get south side or go elsewhere.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: The place is just so quaint. The little quotes on everything, the book of Maine poetry on the bed for turn down, the Scrabble board by the fireplace...great. And the Staff, from the valet to the front desk and all the other staff around the property...so friendly and accommodating.
Cons: Can't think of anything
Good 7.5
Pros: The gym
Cons: The service at the coffee bar.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Love the location , friendly helpful staff, beautiful clean room and very comfortable bed
Excellent 10.0
Pros: The hotel is inspired by the history of the Press. Around every corner in every closet corridor and even on the back of chairs is homage to writing and the Press
Cons: Nothing
Excellent 10.0
Pros: everything
Excellent 10.0
Pros: The Press offers a unique stay from chain hotels. The restaurant is fantastic. Staff are helpful, friendly and truly accommodating. It is a tad pricey in high season, so we go in the off season. The beds are super comfy and the rooms are well maintained and spotless. It has a great vibe, w local.art on display. They have a shuttle to take you local places, not just the airport.
Cons: Seriously, we love it there. I even wrote their manager a personal note about how much we enjoyed ourselves.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: The staff was outstanding and is what will bring me back.
Cons: Price to high
Excellent 9.2
Pros: Excellent accommodations and tremendous staff. The free shuttle for guests around the city was a great perk. There is wonderful attention to detail and we loved our stay at the Press.
Cons: There is a lovely restaurant in the location, but they do not provide room service or spa amenities on site.
Excellent 9.6
Pros: Service was excellent.
Cons: For $450 a night, don’t buckle and dime me with a $10 room service charge and high parking fees.
Excellent 9.6
Pros: Great Valet guy and front desk staff upon check in , very welcoming from the get go . Great room , lovely decor . Nice bar and friendly bar tender . Restaurant server Kayla was a sweetheart .
Cons: Food in the Union restaurant was just ok, nothing to rush back for , Scallops were cooked well but what it was served with was uninteresting . Pork tenderloin special was only average and did not look appetizing at all, presentation for the price was very basic . Host for restaurant was excellent .

Excellent 9.7
Pros: Great location. Small boutique feel.
Excellent 8.3
Pros: I loved the restaurants around the location, it was off the beaten path, but everything around there was superb.
Cons: I wished they offered breakfast or at least a sandwich voucher from the great bakery across the way. The bed was small, it was a Full and not a Queen.
Excellent 9.2
Pros: We enjoyed the space in the king suite and it was quiet as we requested for a restful sleep. Staff was extremely friendly with excellent recommendations for dining when we inquired.
Cons: It took some thought to come up with what could be better since we were extremely satisfied with our stay. We did get coffee in the morning in the lobby and my black coffee tasted good while the cream curdled in my husbands.
Excellent 9.0
Pros: location, amenities in the room, warm welcome
Cons: security was terrible: door lock was broken; the outside door did not latch (anyone could break in by just pushing it); the staff did not know the code of their own door. Even a historic facility should probably have key cards in this day and age. Lack of staff training: no one around during "normal" hours; unable to answer simple questions about the place. Seemed to be recent hires with no briefing. Exception: the man who was on duty when we arrived.
Good 6.7
Pros: Accessibility to downtown area. Staff was super
Cons: Room was on lower floor and there was a lot of noise above us each morning starting at 6am.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Place was was amazing, only a few rooms. They offered breakfast from the coffee shop actress the street which is a huge line on the weekends. Super comfy beds. I would stay here again.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Beautiful facility, large rooms and immaculately clean.
Cons: You can hear the footsteps of people walking around in the room above, but no big deal.
Excellent 8.8
Pros: Great upgrade when we asked if there was a quieter room
Cons: We were asked to move rooms for the final night. Then when we’d moved, asked to move back again!
Excellent 9.0
Pros: Beautiful building, amazing art and furniture, clean and beautifully decorated. Staff especially Alex very friendly and helpful. Appreciated the bottle of Prosecco chilling in our room on arrival for our anniversary. Easy walk to downtown, bars and restaurants.
Cons: No breakfast or in-room tea and coffee, but hot drinks available in reception 24/7 and bakery across the road (Tandem) was exceptional. Great selection of in-room local snacks, but for a charge. Really only minor niggles, we had a great stay.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Beautifully appointed, helpful staff and nice location to get some walks into the main part of town. Loved the sweet shop across the street!
Excellent 9.2
Pros: Nice quiet room, pleasant staff. Room was spotless, hotel lobby was pretty with a cool fireplace. Parking was free, location was good. Cool adjoining restaurant, glad our room was away from the restaurant, think it could have been noisy.
Cons: It was a little high for what it is. No in room coffee- hate going into the lobby for coffee first thing in the morning and I guess that was the most surprising (and the Lobby coffee was subpar)-but coffee is super important to me first thing in the morning lol. No laundry bags. Not a lot of extras here or didn’t feel like it in the room.

Good 7.5
Pros: The innkeeper was nice & the breakfast was tasty.
Cons: The private bathroom was across the hall, not attached to the room.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Quite yet near Commercial street
Excellent 10.0
Pros: The staff was so friendly and nice. We enjoy talking with them and sharing stories. They had all the things we needed and delicious fresh baked cookies. Our bed was super comfy and breakfast was delicious. Thanks for making our stay a great one.
Good 6.7
Pros: I liked the fact that everyone gets to have breakfast together ❤ that gave us a chance to get to know each other a bit and whom our neighbors were. The home was well organized for the most part and the shower was excellent. You have to check out "savage bbq" when you go there that place is great. The zoo was fun as well but maybe to far for some people.
Cons: The bed does not get made on a daily basis. The sheets were dirty and do not get new towels. The rug was dirty. Not much to chose from from the breakfast menu. Everyone has to pretty much eat the same thing.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: So pretty, a total gem in the west end.
Cons: Nothing, loved it.

Excellent 10.0
Pros: A perfect stay, in a perfect location - pretty close to restaurants that the very friendly innkeeper Jim helped curate. The Inn at Carleton is a gem in Portland, a city that has much to offer. Sorry to say, we had only planned to stay one night - should have been there longer! The house where the Inn is located is a special place and everything is perfect, from the rooms, the comfortable bed and the cleaning standard to the breakfast which is served as a 2 course. Go visit and find out what its like to be totally pampered. Highly recommended!
Excellent 10.0
Pros: The Inn On Carleton is exceptional. Must stay venue. 5+ stars!
Excellent 10.0
Pros: The host Jim was awesome. He is very knowledgeable about Portland and the surrounding areas. Great resource. Breakfast was delightful and delicious. Bed was supper comfortable. Worth the time to check it out. Thanks for a memorable stay.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Superb breakfast! Excellent amenities. Jim was an excellent host, and he has printed out a list of activities and restaurants in the area to explore. A most gracious innkeeper!
Cons: Lots of exterior and interior stairs, so if that’s a problem for you, choose another property.
Excellent 9.0
Pros: Great breakfast and lovely room.
Cons: Recommendations for dinner were all fully booked.
Okay 5.4
Pros: Very small room with sink in bedroom. TINY bathroom.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: The great hospitality of Jim.

Excellent 10.0
Pros: This was one of the nicest bed 'n' breakfasts in which we've stayed. Located in a beautifully restored Victorian mansion, every aspect was well-planned and very comfortable, from free parking and wi-fi to the mattress toppers. The Sunday brunch was outstanding, including lobster hashbrowns and raspberry custard. Its location was also convenient, not far from the wedding and reception we were attending. The staff was helpful and very pleasant. Highly recommended!
Cons: The rooms are a bit small.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: The room was wonderful and the beds were very comfortable. Every convenience was available to make us comfortable from an upstairs sitting room with home-cooked snacks to a fantastic breakfast. It was very close to all the places we wished to visit and the host was very helpful and friendly. Obviously, he cares deeply about his business and his guests because everything was done to ensure our stay was pleasant. The contrast between this establishment and other bed and breakfasts where I have have stayed was enormous in the best way possible.
Cons: We liked everything.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Great breakfast. Sitting room on the second floor was nice
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Owner was incredibly accommodating and gracious when I made a serious scheduling error. Property was elegant without being fussy, room was very comfortable and quiet, parking was great, nearby restaurant that owner recommended was perfect.

Excellent 10.0
Pros: Location was great
Cons: No
Excellent 8.0
Pros: Room was good, all of the pillows were down which I am allergic to. Breakfast was very nice.
Cons: Unfortunately, I tried to make myself a cup of coffee in the room using the provided coffee maker and creamer's and when I tried to drink it it was rancid. I really expect more out of a Hilton .
Excellent 10.0
Pros: It’s a nice place and everyone is friendly!
Excellent 10.0
Pros: We like the doggie area.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: We thought the breakfast was fabulous and delicious, and, unexpected!!
Cons: Where to locate emenities!! Where was the pool, etc., etc.
Okay 4.0
Pros: The breakfast was great. It was nice having a snack each evening before heading out to dinner.
Cons: Someone broke into our room (420), smoked weed (so strong I couldn't go back in) and stole a bag.
Excellent 9.2
Pros: Near Portland International Jetport, very convenient if you’ve early morning flight to catch. Like the made to order hot breakfast egg station and the complimentary airport shuttle service.
Cons: None
Good 7.1
Pros: Clean and comfortable with excellent staff and a great complimentary cocktail hour
Cons: You’re right on top of the airport here which is great if you’re using the airport. We weren’t. This was the most expensive property we booked for this trip. The reception area was lovely but the rooms were a little tired, although clean. We had a view of what I believe was probably the kitchen equipment vents and our room was next to the vending machines for the floor - and they’re not sound proofed as claimed. Hence it felt expensive for what we received.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Everithing was good but the happy hour courtesy was unexpected and great!
Excellent 9.6
Pros: Convenient to airport. Made to order breakfast that was quite good. Clean, modern rooms. Courteous and helpful staff.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Every thing the food the booze the room the pool
Cons: Going home
Excellent 9.0
Pros: Location and friendly staff

Pros: Excellent customer service upon arrival. After being at a most unfriendly hotel, yours was a wonderful positive experience.
Cons: We thought we had a waterfront location.
Excellent 9.6
Pros: Margaret ( waiter) in the lounge bar was exceptional
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Very clean and friendly staff! Complimentary muffins and coffee in the morning delivered right to your room!!
Excellent 10.0
Pros: I adore older buildings like this one. The others surrounding the downtown area have also been carefully restored to be alighted with character and charm. The neighborhood is absolutely clean, a well cared for city streets Vibe of updated and revitalized. So often beautiful older buildings are torn down to create modern urban Mecca’s but Portland ME has a cobblestone retro integrity with a clean updated gentle user friendly urban space and a Beautiful spectrum of warm people.
Cons: The bathroom in my room could use updating.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: The beds were like sleeping in a cloud. I appreciated the chocolates with the turn down service and the weather expectations for the next day. Front desk staff was extremely helpful with recommendations for activities.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: The staff was very friendly. The learned that we were staying for our honeymoon and the upgraded our room. Great customer service.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: The cocktail lounge.
Cons: The bathroom. In particular the shower. Plastic curtain at this price point is not acceptable. Terrible shower head, no grab bars.5
Good 7.0
Pros: Location is best for an extended weekend trip, within walking distance to all shopping and restaurants, etc. The staff was friendly. This was first trip to Portland, and we loved the experience.
Cons: I thought it was a little pricey for the room size. We had two rooms and they were not really equitable, I didn't think. Also, the cost of parking was a little steep for me.
Excellent 9.0
Pros: Also liked the historic building
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Ambience. Rooms were immaculate. Beds very comfortable. All the staff were pleasant and friendly with directions to points of interest
Cons: I liked everything.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Location near downtown and the wharf
Excellent 10.0
Pros: The front desk staff was great and room service was outstanding! The shower was great.
Cons: I hated, hated, hated the microfiber bedding! They need to have natural fiber options for guests. The bed pillows were old and heavy from moisture.

Excellent 8.8
Pros: Just what we were looking for. Away from, but close to everything
Cons: Breakfast was marginal. Would have liked more choices of fruit, eggs, toast etc
Excellent 9.0
Pros: Comfortable and homey.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: The staff was so friendly and helpful. The breakfast was outstanding!
Cons: Stairs
Excellent 9.2
Pros: The overall experience was very pleasant and the unique creativity of decor much appreciated!
Cons: The breakfast experience was a little confusing, leaving guests unsure about food selections and the Inn’s morning routine. Most of our past Inn stays had someone greeting us and explaining the process etc.
Good 7.5
Pros: The staff was very nice.
Cons: When the reservation was made we wanted to be close to commercial st and was told it was a short walk. It was a long walk. Also said free on site parking. Didn't say it only accommodates three cars. Said there was a hot breakfast made to order but no one ever approached us about breakfast so we ended up going elsewhere for breakfast.
Good 7.1
Pros: Breakfast and location were great! The staff was very friendly. The place was very quirky.
Cons: The room was a bit shabby (peeling paint) and the air conditioner was really loud and we couldn't get the room to be the right temperature (but it is an old house so that makes sense).

Mediocre 3.0
Pros: The room itself was sufficiently spacious. Staff offered assistance with luggage.
Cons: Third floor walkup to room. Tiny bathroom, I needed to sit sideways to use the toilet. Very noisy street and airport noise through the night. Not a nice neighborhood. Definitely not value for the expensive cost.
Good 6.7
Cons: Bathroom outside room and no elevator (but I knew that from online info)
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Comfortable bed, great whirlpool jet tub, excellent chocolate chip cookies, and the location is perfect. Great staff
Excellent 10.0
Pros: The king bed was extremely comfortable and our room had a private bathroom, which was a plus! We caught the bus right across the street that took us to Monument Square and all the great shops and restaurants. There was also complimentary coffee, bagels, pastries and yogurt for breakfast. We loved our stay in this vintage hotel!
Good 7.5
Pros: Pillows too big
Cons: Pillows
Excellent 9.6
Pros: Our stay was just perfect. Rooms are coozy and tidy, everybody is really gentle. Breakfast is tasty, coffee and water are free all day. Recomendation for a trip to Portland!!
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Staff were great, lovely traditional feeling, our room with semi-private bathroom was a bargain. and great to have coffee & cookies available all day, great when arriving after a long journey. Also many great facilities in room - coffee maker, microwave and fridge.
Good 7.9
Pros: A nice period building. Very friendly helpful staff. Good breakfast. We enjoyed the 30 min walk back from our very good waterfront restaurant via the lovely period best streets in Portland. The taxi drive in didn’t show the good bits!
Mediocre 3.0
Cons: Room was in poor condition, and pricing did not reflect the quality of the offering.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Staff was great and the place is immaculate--a wonderful older building and very nice room with everything we needed. Chocolate chip cookies, coffee and water available all afternoon and evening.
Cons: Technically it is in downtown, but we had to drive to everything we wanted to do; parking is a challenge and gets expensive...but then, Portland is expensive.
Good 6.7
Pros: Staff was very friendly, breakfast was good.
Cons: The no elevator thing stinks. Also having to share a bathroom was a drag.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: This hotel was very different from most, and was a delight. It likely is not for everyone, but provides all one could ask for or need. Personnel was always helpful and courteous.
Cons: The distance from city center was the only disadvantage I found.

Excellent 9.6
Pros: Room was very clean - hotel must be pretty new. Manager was excellent - gave us good dinner ideas and site seeing ideas.
Cons: Vanity area needs overhead light from above the mirror. The back lit mirror blinds you and you can't see the top of your head well to do your hair. Also the top of the vanity counter doesn't provide enough space for toiletries, especially if two people are in the room. Add a shelf above the faucet or on wall next to counter. The gap between the counter and wall allows toiletries to fall down between the wall and counter. Finally, more seating for breakfast must be added. We had to wait 10+ minutes for a table - unacceptable when trying to make scheduled events in the morning.
Excellent 8.0
Cons: Not enough tables for breakfast. Had to stand for a while.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: The location is convenient to the interstate and to downtown. The breakfast was very good.
Okay 5.4
Pros: Staff were friendly & helpful. Room was spacious.
Cons: Pillows were like sacks of flour. Bed linens were not of good quality. Breakfast was not good - coffee was awful!
Excellent 9.0
Pros: Very courteous and helpful staff. Rooms clean and spacious. Nice breakfast.
Cons: The actual location of the property.
Excellent 10.0

Cons: Nothing!

Pros: Very clean and great location
Excellent 9.0
Cons: The breakfast could be better
Excellent 8.8
Pros: Staff was very friendly Very clean facilities Price
Cons: Small bathroom Breakfast was adequate Shuttle to downtown was not offered until the second night
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Although it was a bit out of the down town area it was within walking distance of Thompson's Point venue. The breakfast area was well stocked with a variety of choices.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Great selection and enjoyed the fruit.
Cons: No complaints !
Excellent 8.0
Pros: Hotel provided shuttle service to the downtown area of Portland ($5 each) which was really a valuable service as parking is extremely expensive and hard to find. However, this service was not made known to us by the front desk without our overhearing other customers ask about it.

Pros: Comfortable bed, location, beauty of property inside and out. Breakfast was delucious and served in a timely manner. Linda and Jim greeted us each morning with a smile
Cons: Linda and Jim were gracious hosts. Willing to offer information about the area and attractions, as well as best places to enjoy a meal. The room was pet friendly which was one reason we chose this B and B. There were 2 cats on premise , Oliver and Oliver Also, but we only had an opportunity to see Also. Breakfast each morning was wonderful. We met several other guests from Spain, Germany, Belgium and Washington, DC. Interesting conversations with all. Would highly recommend.

Pros: Staff was wonderful. Location was good.
Cons: Placed in wheelchair accessible room. No counter space. Echo to room. Under-decorated for size of room-- needed warming up.
Excellent 9.6
Pros: The rooms are large with two double beds. The gym and the pool/hot tub are really nice. The hotel runs a free shuttle bus service into town every few hours which gave us enough time to look around the town centre.
Cons: Shuttle bus service could be a bit more frequent.

Cons: Nothing.

Excellent 9.2
Pros: I liked the fact that the location was close to the City of Portland. And the complimentary pick up at the airport and return was very organized. The front desk staff was extremely accomodating and helpful with our stay.
Excellent 9.6
Pros: Check in was quick and the Front Desk agent was very friendly. Bed was really comfortable but pillows could be better. Quiet and clean. Thank you.
Cons: Pillows were a little lumpy. Not great.
Good 6.3
Pros: Good size in the swimming pool area, kids enjoyed it.
Cons: Rooms are very old. Staff was kind but some of them did not know their own rules about the shuttle bus, not able to give much information about local buses either. Shuttle bus only available to go to Medical centres, only 2 drops a day in downtown at 4pm and 7 pm, a not very sensible timetable for tourists, why not to do at least one in the morning either? Once they told me it was very busy, but everytime I was going out I could see the shuttle parked at the door not being used! Very unconvenient if travelling with kids and no car, as downtown no accessible walking due you have to cross a big road, and local buses not very often (every 45 min), and not well indicated. And some Uber drivers will not take the kids without car seats due Maine regulations so be aware! Towels in the swimming pool very small. Overall too pricey for the quality of the rooms, location and service.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: This place is great. Very comfortable and clean. The location is fantastic, and the staff was really exceptional. The pool area was surprisingly large and clean.
Cons: The breakfast was a bit overpriced. The side doors don't have tap in access, they are locked after 10.
Excellent 9.0
Pros: Excellent staff!
Cons: Their web site shows a buffet breakfast. Many hotels offer that for free. Although the web site was silent on the issue, the breakfast actually costs $9.95. That should be made clear from the beginning.
Mediocre 2.0
Cons: Dirty mirror. Broken toilet seat. Disgusting bathroom overall. Is this what’s to be expected from a 3-Star? If so, never again!
Excellent 8.0
Pros: Price
Cons: Not really
Okay 5.0
Cons: Room was dirty. Waitress staff was not friendly
Okay 5.0

Cons: The room needed some TLC

Excellent 8.0
