Palo Alto motels

Pros: The beds were super comfortable and the down pillows were a bonus! Very well maintained, clean and well manicured.

Cons: Nothing!

Pros: Clean, bright, comfortable Staff went above and beyond to help us with accessibility and when there was an issue in the room, it was promptly attended to and we were not inconvenienced while it was resolved. All staff was friendly and happy to help in any way.

Pros: The hotel was nice, and the patio is great if you want to dine with friends. very specious hotel, with clean and nice rooms.

Cons: there is no actual breakfast or dining room. just grabbing a coffee and some packed cookies. the guys at the office was very slow, and it took almost 20 min to take two rooms.

Pros: It was in a pretty good location since it does have a Palo Alto address and is right on El Camino Real. But, it is not right in the heart of Palo Alto near downtown or Stanford. They do offer a free bag of chips and free water (Kirkland brand) in the room. And, there is a coffee maker if you need it.

Cons: EVERYTHING! This is a total "bait and switch". The website presents a cute, quaint hotel both through the photography/logo and language that is used. It is anything but. I looked in the closet and saw an old, used "Days Inn" paper cup (why has the closet not been cleaned out!!!), and it made sense. This must be a former Days Inn. The rooms are motel-style where they open into a parking lot. They feature a weak chain for the door. I was 1,000% disappointed, especially for the price. The website said, "our continually updated, one of a kind guest rooms feature plush beds, modern bathrooms, and a full array of amenities." This place is nothing like that description. It is not at all updated. It was formerly a Days Inn, and it looks like an old, out-of-date Days Inn that would be better in a low-end neighborhood not Palo Alto. The only good thing about the room is that it had a large flat screen TV with Dish Network. And, there is free wi-fi. The beds have no headboards, the pillows are bad, the bedspreads have stains, the lamp shades were cracked and showing yellow water stains, the furniture is way out of date, the hangers were old, the room is super small (had to put the luggage rack in front of the entry door to have room). The bathroom is bad – the door didn’t even close all of the way. The towels are like loofah sponges - very thin and really rough. I noticed wear spots on the carpets and the walls were dinged and nicked. And, sadly we paid $238/night - $270+ with taxes/fees (based on the language and imagery on their website). It is really bad. I would AVOID this hotel like the plague unless they offer a super, super low rate. The lady at the desk claimed that they were renovating (I saw no evidence). I highly recommend you wait until the renovations are done and then give it a try (but, only once you have photo confirmation of the end result). If their renovations live up to the website imagery and language (and price), then this will eventually be a fine local hotel. But, right now, it is not good at all. The lobby features tired wood paneling and very tacky decorations. And, they offer a "grab and go" breakfast, but it is super basic with plastic packaged muffins and danish. I highly recommend you avoid this hotel!!

Pros: The staff was so friendly! The owner walked my mom and I to our room and then turned on tv for us to make sure we knew how to use it and turned on heat for us. They really made us feel welcomed! Will stay there again for sure

Pros: I had to make an emergency trip to Stanford. The Glass Slipper was so conveniently located, free parking. Spacious room with refrigerator and microwave. Happy Donuts across the street. It was perfect for my trip.

Cons: Mainly the price, but it was still much lower than anything else in the area ($178 at a time when nearby hotels were $275-888).

Pros: The manager was very friendly and accommodating. The price was right for our needs - it was a busy weekend and we were not in the room too much except to sleep and recharge a bit. We could tell improvements/renovations were going on to update other rooms.

Cons: We stayed for 3 nights and the room was not cleaned after the second night - we ended up taking out our own trash. And I believe an animal got into the room at some point, leaving a mess.

Pros: This is an older facility and is beginning to be a bit long in the tooth rather than wabi sabi. It used to be inexpensive, but, with the advent of other hotels within a few blocks and more agressive "value" pricing, it no longer always is the best choice. None the less, it is well run, comfortable, and reasonably clean. The staff is friendly. There are on-site washers and dryers which makes it a good stopover on a long trip.

Cons: The breakfast is an aged pastry on the in-room coffee maker tray. Hobees is just down the street and is a far better choice.

Pros: We have been going there since 2006 and like the consistency of service and room.

Pros: An older facility, well managed and clean. The staff is friendly and the price, for the Palo Alto area, is reasonable. It features a coin-op laundry for guests. The breakfast they offer is commercial pastries to go with room-brewed coffee; better to do a little down the block to Hobee's and have a real morning feast. Parking is plentiful.

Cons: Things sometime don't work. One of the bed lamps in my room did not work. I mentioned it on check-out and someone was on it immediately. Some of the sockets are so worn that a charger won't work in them reliably. Nothing significant or dramatic, just occasional irritations.

Cons: We've been staying here for fourteen years! When we first stayed here the rooms had recently been renovated. Now it is a bit worn, tattered, and adequate but not fabulous. The price is right tho!

Pros: Price for location. It's a very tired hotel that could use upgrading, but it met our purposes and the managers seem to be doing the best they can with what they've got to work with. The room was clean - to the extent that it could be.

Cons: Wifi was virtually unusable. The rooms and bathrooms need to be updated. The card reader on or door was problematic; we had to have at least a half dozen card keys made before we got 2 that worked.

Pros: Has all necessary appliances in Working Condition! Spacious. Clean, and Good Water Pressure. Safe, but quiet location.

Cons: I was awaken at about 3am by my neighbor slamming the door and talking and walking around.

Pros: Price was reasonable by Palo Alto standards.

Cons: Bathroom was unsanitary. Rusty fixtures and accumulation of human hairs in faucet control knob. Mattress was lumpy.

Cons: Breakfast is minimal continental but Dinah’s is just across the street for an excellent meal. Hard to find plugs for devices. Bathtub surface needs repair.

Pros: The location was great and the parking was adequate.

Cons: The carpeting in the room was dirty, the bath was chipped, worn and moldy, the front window was broken...but what really got me were all the ants crawling around the bath.

Pros: everything was great at the Oak and the price was very reasonable for the Palo Alto CA area. this property exceeded my expectation very much. thank you

Pros: Location, close to hospital where husband was admitted. Nice tv but too large for the room.

Cons: The shower looked like it had been cleaned but there was a very long hair near the drain...Very visable. THOROUGH cleaning of carpet and bathroom, then paint would help. Preferably new furniture. Take old unused entertainment center/TV cabinet out of the room. Take plastic and labels off lampshades. Soften up the towels a bit. Front desk staff was very unfriendly.

Cons: It was dirty there was mold in shower , spiders in room rust on fixtures in bathroom , my wife and child wanted to sleep in car .

Cons: Sorry but the buildings, stairways and halls were very dirty. No effort has been made to fix broken workworn furnishings. Could be nice with work and cleaning.
