Location is great
The staff was friendly and fairly knowledgeable about the area. Always cool to sit and chat with people from other places. Hot coffee and plenty of kitchen utensils if you feel like cooking.
First, the pictures in booking need to be updated. I don’t doubt those are real photos- from six years ago. Despite the staff being friendly and knowledgeable, they seemed to only clean the sheets between stays. We booked the private “Quarter” room ($172 for two nights) and found toe nails on the floor and fake eyelashes on the windowsill. The shared bathroom was moldy and the wood floors sticky. I’m not one for super clean, but honestly it was gross even for a hostel. Other occurrences- like “breakfast” of pancake mix, someone vomiting in the shared bathroom sink, terrible temp control, and sub-par beds are really part of shared housing. Hence- Fratlas House. If we were paying $30 this would be whatever, but it is honestly a rip off for the quality.
The huge roll up walk through windows and balcony
I booked a full/queen sized bed 4 me and my husband but the room only had 2 twin bunk beds and the water pressure and temperature sucked!
The location near Couchon, and excellent restaurant nearby. Jordan was basically nice, but the night manager was a different story. Lucky I was able to find something else on short notice.
We arrived Tuesday, March 3rd in the evening after a long travel day from California. We got led to our private "Quarter" room and shared bathroom. We got in and the bed was unmade, and the room wasn't ready for us, so we went and got dinner nearby. We came back, the room was made up. Tried getting to sleep and were met with a loud conversation downstairs beneath our window. Fiance went and asked them to quiet down around our room. The person left, but shortly after midnight the noise got louder, more people were yelling. Fiance again goes and asks for quiet, since we are paying customers for the private room, and the night manager basically told him, so what? She said the people in back were also paying customers, so deal with it. Tried to sleep, got up due to the breakfast noise. Had to wait extended lengths of time to use our bathroom shared with only one other room. Became apparent that other people were coming up to use the shower. They also used all the toilet paper. The bathroom was filthy, mold in the shower, leaking faucets that didn't completely shut off, and the noise. This was my first time to New Orleans, and it was clear our needs were not met, so I booked another hotel, and we moved over there. I did leave the keys and a note at the front desk, as there was no one up front. I also left a note saying I wanted a credit for the additional 3 nights already paid for, paying only for the first night. As of today, Saturday, at 11:44am, no credit has shown up on my online credit card app. We're leaving today, and did mention in the note I would be dealing with my credit card company directly, but that I expected the credit to be done, and so my review reflects their general refusal to do the right thing. Perhaps if they complete the credit transaction, a more positive review will be updated. Until then, just know this: they are basically a flophouse.
Breakfast was okay, it was pancakes. The location was great, about 3 blocks from a streetcar.
The beds were a little uncomfortable. The host gave me the wrong bed location so when I came in late a second time there was somebody in the bed. It turned out she had given me the wrong location.
