Great location - literally 5 mins transfer - from airport. The hotel is one we have stayed in 7 or 8 times previously. It is consistently good (at the things it is good at) and consistently disappointing at the things it needs to do differently/better. The exec rooms are a good size with a good view over the pool. Huge shower, full bath and spotlessly clean. Great health suite, excellent facility and super clean! The exec lounge is a handy extra... somewhere quieter to go for pre-dinner drinks and to have breakfast... but this is where our main grip occurred...
This hotel does not understand that an exec lounge is just that... and should only offer small nibbles and a glass of wine / spirit - it is NOT there to feed the exec guests. WHY? Because it is restricting the hotel of potential revenue. The sight of people troughing away like they are never going to be fed again is very sad to see. The hotel should put a stop to this. No other hotel I know tolerates this approach. If guests want dinner... they should go to a restaurant downstairs. As it was on each occaision we came to the exec lounge to have a pre-dinner drink before going to Stax there was nowhere to sit because of the gorging and troughing! This is something within the hotel purview and really should be addressed. The only other grip, as it turned out is STAX. The staff are not great, the food service is painfully slow, the restaurant deserted (I believe partly as a consequence of what I have already written). But when you are showing two guests to a pre-booked reservation in an almost empty restaurant do NOT walk them past the only two tables that are still dirty and not cleared away... do not then put us right next to the only other table of guests in the whole restaurant and for goodness sake when two guests order starters and then main courses by all means bring the starters together BUT to then bring one guests main course almost immediately and for there then to be a 10 minute wait for the second main course to arrive is simply appalling. Only to be made worse by the fact that when I then started to eat, and my partner had already finished his meal, the chef comes out, interrupts me - simply to apologise... good grief - bad decision. When I then offered feedback and said I thought the guest experience was poor, disappointing and I wasn't happy they had the cheek to charge me the service (although the HR has a policy of happy with service - or don't pay) but they charged it. Will we stay again...
We had a fantastic experience. The best part is Service. Excellent property. Breakfast is just fabulous. Breakfast menu seems like endless.
