Our room was large and beautifully appointed and had a lovely balcony. The owner, Karen, was exceptional in helping us plan our visit to Montevideo and beyond. The location couldn't be better.
There was nothing that could have been improved on.
The very best part of our one-week stay at Casa Sarandi was Karen Higgs herself! OMG! She is absolutely awesome with her help, her advice, her "consierge" services--all provided with kindness, toal support and understanding, and the ability to contact her for 15 hours on any day! We arrived at 5:00 AM, and she was already there to help us up to the flat with the rooms (and with luggage). She was totally accommodating--showing us the best restaurants, the best activities, and total Monteveido advice. If you travel there, you will meet your New Best Friend in Karen Higgs, as we did. We learned about her from her book, The Guru'guay Guide to Monteveido, which we ordered on-line because of the derth of books about tourism in Uruguay. It was the very best help we could have hoped for The accommodation itself was lovely--Not like a traditional hotel! In this case, our room was warm (not sterile) and homey, totally clean and comfortable. The little balcony outside our room gave us a change to watch life in Monteveido go by in the mornings out there with coffee from the flat's kitchen! We loved the location of Casa Sarandi! Only one or two bloclks from all the best sights to see, plus it's only one block from the Rambla and the ocean. For anyone who travels to Uruguay--or who is thinking about it--we wholly recommend you contact Karen Higgs through her book. She was there for us well beyond our expectations.
Neither my husband nor I can think of anything to have made our stay better. It was just super!
Spectacular host! Karen made us feel so welcomed and never hesitated to help out. Excellent location! Walking distance to many worthwhile sites and close to a variety of cafes and restaurants. Thank you for a fabulous experience and I shall definitely return.
Location is good
Its not a guest house, more like an airbnb. It's an appartment where each room is rented out separately, and there's a shared kitchen and sitting room. Karen lives across town and is only there for check in. You can call in case of problems or questions.
Great location. Comfortable bad. There is a very nice, fully equipped kitchen available for guests. But what makes Casa Sarandí so special are the amazing hosts. Both Karen and Sergio spent time helping us design our trip. We arrived on a day when historic monuments in the city were open- Sergio went out and got us a guide book to follow! They gave us excellent suggestions for places and restaurants to visit in and outside of Montevideo. Karen even helped to design our road trip in Uruguay: hotel near Punta del Este, set us up with a rental car company and gave us suggestions for places to stop along the way. She is truly the Guru-Guay! No better people to have on your side!
