Spacious and very comfortable. Loved the decor. It was great to have use of a full kitchen. Location is perfect for everything in the old city , cafes, bars etc. walk everywhere or jump on a bus easily. Karen was so amazing. Very friendly, helpful and welcoming. She gave me so many great tips about things I enjoy. I wouldn’t have been aware of so many events happening and places to go without her advice. Would definitely recommend.
Could not ask for a better host. Personable, knowledgeable, caring and always accessible. Writes Uruguayan guides, so has exceptional local knowledge that she is happy to share. Felt she went 5he extra mile and more. Physically convenient to the main old town attractions. Simply furnished. Shared kitchen, lounge and dining but over 4 days we rarely encountered anyone.
The property is on one of the main thoroughfares for the many buses heading out of the old town and so there is a fair bit of traffic noise. On the plus side, you are 3 floors up, there is double glazing and air conditioning so you can have all windows and doors shut. Unfortunately, we live with windows opened and no air conditioning, and so personally experienced the accomodation as noisy. If you are less sensitive to noise or ok to have your windows shut then this would no doubt be exceptionally good accomodation.
The owner was incredibly friendly and helpful, both when i was planning my trip and after i arrived. She arranged airport transfers, a trip to a winery outside the city and an Art Deco walking tour, and made detailed suggestions for what to see and do and where to eat. The bed was the mist comfortable i have ever slept in.
Casa Sarandi is the best place to stay in Montevideo! Karen is such a great guide, and it's in a walkable and pretty area in Ciudad Vieja. Montevideo is an absolutely fantastic city, but has many "hidden gems" so staying at Casa Sarandi and having Karen's expertise will truly make your trip better! Enjoy Montevideo!!
My daughter and I liked everything about Casa Sarandi. Especially Karen, the owner. She goes out of her way to make sure you are taken care of and having a good time in Montevideo. The location is excellent. You can walk to 90% of the sites and there is a bus line right out in front if you need it. There are 3 rooms for guests who are able to share a common area and a kitchen. When we were there (off season), we were the only guests and it was like having our own house. I would definitely stay there again and I recommend it to others.
There is some street noise which could be troublesome to light sleepers. I am a light sleeper and only had a problem one night.
A stay at Casa Sarandi Guesthouse places you in the heart of Montevideo, steps from Peatonal Sarandí and Independence Plaza. Featured amenities include express check-out, dry cleaning/laundry services, and multilingual staff. A roundtrip airport shuttle is provided for a surcharge (available 24 hours).
