9.6 Excellent
Pros: Randall and his family were so wonderful. They made this stay so lovely.
Cons: Would have liked a fan in the room. The hot water also did not work.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Wonderful location and amazing host! Randall was so helpful and welcoming. He greeted us with coffee upon arrival and helped us book our activities for the next day right away. We were pretty wiped out after the rough drive up the roads there. It was wonderful to have help planning our ziplining excursion and getting directions into town for the evening. I wish we had more time to stay here! Binoculars are provided for bird watching. It is a beautiful property and seemed like a low-key, mellow crowd when we were there. Good breakfast with option of eggs. Homemade granola and jam were great! And lots of fresh fruit.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful wooden cabin in stunning scenery No tv - just nature No a/c - just fresh air Friendly helpful people Good shower pressure Great breakfast Super restaurant watching hummingbirds feeding
Cons: Needed a taxi to get to the village or activities (If you have a car - no problem)
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I would highly recommend Belcruz B&B to anyone traveling to the Monteverde area. Our room was spacious and spotless. It was just two of us but there were two rooms that could easily accommodate 4 people. The owner put a lot of time and thought into the landscaping and property. I enjoyed the little hike between the rooms and the restaurant. Both dinner and breakfast were excellent. My favorites were the homade granola and jam. The hospitality of the owner was some of the best I've encountered anywhere. He was genuinely happy to have us there and went out of his way to accommodate. A great value overall. I will stay here again if I return to the area.
Cons: No complaints.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We liked everything there: the rooms were very spacious and cleaned, nice to have a fridge in the room too. The location is perfect, very close to Santa Elena and close to the main activities like ziplining and visits and parks. A good place to observe birds, among them hummingbirds. The owner and his family are very friendly and told us advice and interesting anecdotes! We spoke a lot about the birds and animals in the area. The breakfast is very generous and varied, the coffee always good.
Cons: Nothing. I will recommend it to my friends coming to Costa Rica.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: - Comfortable beds - View from balcony - Very good breakfast - Tea/Coffee on the house - Owner courtesy - Value for money - Birding opportunity from restaurant balcony
Cons: - Toiletries included only 2 small soap bars.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Good breakfast and food overall. Clean rooms with everything needed. Friendly owner who is ready to help. 20-25 minutes to Monteverde cloud forest. Nice view from the terrace.
Cons: Sometimes can hear noise of local cars trying to manage bumpy road.
7.9 Good
Pros: Host was amazing, committed and homely vibe to the b&b
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Randall and his family provided an impressive service; the breakfast was superb and the rooms are good enough. The hotel is a bit far from Santa Elena, but it's definitely worth the trip for the price.
Cons: Nothing to add here.
7.5 Good
Pros: The view from the property over the mountains was beautiful - the sunset and mountains and the quiet. The staff (family run) were lovely - very friendly, helpful, nice home cooked breakfast, attentive with the room, luggage and taxi. It felt like a very cosy and warm farm type stay.
Cons: The property is 30min walk or 10min taxi to the nearest town of Santa Elena on a dusty road - the road stretches across the whole area. The room was comfortable but basic (no fan or air con, the shower drain was smelly so had to keep the bathroom window open).
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Excellent help with tours and general information

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very nice and clean. We could see monkeys from the patio.
Cons: I liked it.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: A friendly and very well located establishment with easy access to Monteverded and other local attractions. The breakfast was excellent and the rooms were great.
Cons: The pictures suggested the site was in the rainforest-which it is not. But just a few minutes away, so close enough to be a very easy drive.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great hospitality , Manuel helped me out with recomandations and order activities for me. Very pleasant stay.
Cons: None
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very well located in a quiet and close to nature zone. A beautiful view to the mountain and the cloud forest. The chalets are well designed, very clean, spacious and very comfortable. The staff is very helpful and attentional. The family who runs the hotel is very warm and welcoming, making you feel at home. A perfect ecosystem, from the hotel, to the family, to the park guides and great tips ! A great place to explore the area and stay cozy at night.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Great stay!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: What's not to like! Andres is a gentleman and helped us arrange the Zipline tour at selvatura Park in advance. The room was comfy and clean and came equipped with Netflix. The bed was comfier than my own bed at home! And the breakfast was delicious and authentic. I would happily stay here again and would recommend it to anyone.
Cons: The only thing that I came remotely close to not liking was the room getting too light early in the morning, but even with that I still had a great sleep.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The cabins are comfy, clean and equipped (there’s a hair dryer!). The family that owns the place is super nice.
Cons: The hot water in the shower are limited (specifically in our cabin- our friends stayed in the second cabin and they had better hot water). There are very strong winds in that area, and you can really feel it from inside... it is very loud. Also, the WiFi in our cabin didn’t work most of the time (it works better on the 1st cabin, we were in the 2nd cabin).
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Nice view, very good breakfast especially the pancakes!
Cons: The toilet is only separate by a curtain
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The "family experience". It is nice to see how this casa (3 rooms available) is built around the home of Jesus and Aussie. The whole family is very friendly & helpful - from finding tours/transportation to cooking meals. The breakfast is nice too. Aussie cooked one evening meal for us which was delicious. Our room was spatious and very clean. Thank you very much Jesus, Aussie, Natalia, Andres & Jason!

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful gardens (amazing!). Very helpful and friendly staff.
Cons: Peculiar odor in the bathroom (not dirty and didn’t detract from an otherwise amazing stay).
7.5 Good
Pros: The property itself was beautiful. Staff was very good. View was pretty. It was also close to hiking and town which was very convenient.
Cons: The noise from the people above And the constant noice from saw mill next store That combined with the barking dogs was very unpleasant!!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Staff, view, food
Cons: A little noisy from adjacent rooms
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Farm to Table restaurant is great. Though would be nice to include a breakfast at least. Got a great B&B cabin feel, walk out to the balcony and teleport into Costa Rica's famous cloud forest. Get up early in the morning and catch all the birds waking up and do what they do best.
Cons: Cleaning could be a bit more meticulous. It's nice place for a romantic spot. Thought it is on the higher spectrum of price point for attempting to maintain the boutique aspect. Being it the off-season there is some extra's to be longing for. I'm glad I didn't run into any of the "snobs" this place could possibly attract. Though always go in with minimal expectation and go with your gut feeling. Pura Vida!
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The room was amazing, outstanding views (Belmar room). Complimentary coffee service all day is great. Breakfast is also really nice.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I liked how accommodating everyone is and so willing to give information when asked a question!
Cons: Nothing

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Perfect get away. Good value for money. Food was brilliant. No television but your view is the cloud forest so go and explore outside. We saw so many birds and wild animals. Incredible
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast is amazing. Everyone gets delicious jam and toast with a plate of fresh fruit. All the dishes are delicious!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Monteverde Lodge and Gardens is nestled a short walk from downtown amongst a well manicured and lush landscape. It is only a short drive away from all of the attractions and has several short trails on the property itself. We were welcomed at the reception with tropical drinks, had access to a coffee bar throughout the day, and ended the night in our room with fresh cookies and dessert drinks. The lodge was not very busy this time of year, so our room was upgraded and we felt like we were on a private retreat. The staff made us feel right at home and assured all of our needs were met.
Cons: The walls in the rooms are not very sound proof, so you can hear your neighbors next door and people out in the hallway fairly clearly. I would not let this stop you from visiting, as ear plugs are provided if you are a light sleeper and you likely will not spend much time in your room anyways.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great hotel for the price, great parking and location, walking distance to town and short drive to national parks. Lovely a la carte breakfast. Fantastic service, especially liked the little touches of robes in the room, nice turn down service and was welcomed by name at the door when we arrived. The grounds are also beautiful, lots of lovely common areas, gardens and beautiful views.
Cons: Rooms were a little small and dark where we stayed, but kingsize bed made up for it and it was super comfortable
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was awesome. For a family of 4, easily a $50 value and well worth it.

Featured amenities include complimentary wired Internet access, luggage storage, and a safe deposit box at the front desk. 10.0 Excellent
Pros: This is a tiny inn situated on a large forest reserve, with hikes to see waterfalls and giant ficus trees. All the meals we had were great and breakfast was plentiful. The night hike, which costs about $25 each, was well worth the cost, and of course very convenient. The staff was very pleasant and helpful. I spotted animals like the agouti while on the property, and loved their pet cat Vanilla.
Cons: The hotel is located a bit outside of town, so a taxi may be necessary to get to some activities (though many include transportation) or to try a new restaurant. There was a bit of construction taking place but it didn’t affect us much.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff in the restaurant/kitchen were absolutely a dream. Our host at check in was very informative and her enthusiasm was great. The property trails and design are beautiful.
Cons: We stayed for 3 nights and it rained all afternoon/evening, we had housekeeping all 3 nights but they never replaced our towers and since the weather was cold and rainy, the towels were damp the entire stay. We hung them and extended them to dry but we were drying ourselves with damp towels every night. I work in Hospitality right now and studied environmental science . I am aware of guest being picky and love the idea of reusing towels all 3 Nights to conserve water and energy but an extra towel may have helped. Granted, we could’ve asked for new towels if it was that big of a deal. It wasn’t.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Great location and amazing view
Cons: Small bed and you can hear everything
9.6 Excellent
Pros: We loved the views to the distant Pacific and the cabins scattered around a lush area. You need to stay for a while to get to know your way around (especially if you do not have a vechical) and be able to walk into Montverde township for cafes, bakeries , restaurants etc. We dined at "Morpho" , nearer town with great views especially at Sunset. Lovely staff and great feel plus a forest to explore at your doorstep.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Amazing location,staff,food
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The staff was friendly and helpful, the food and drinks were very good, the grounds and views could not have been more beautiful. We saw some wild animals, and some domestic animals. I wish we had stayed longer at this location, and I recommend it to anyone going to Monteverde.
Cons: There was nothing I didn't like. The room was rustic, but comfortable and perfect for a place to sleep after spending time in the beautiful grounds and surrounding area.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The vibe and ethos of Monteverde was so refreshing and a real treat! The best part is that you can walk around the grounds on pathways through the forest and hang out with the wildlife. Breakfast was delicious and plentyful, do try their gaucamole and chips it's so good we had seconds two nights in a row!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We felt very welcome at this awesome place! The staff was always very helpful and really nice. The restaurant and the big common area invite everyone to have a good time. We loved the food, especially the pizza. We would recommend this place to everyone and would love to come back!

9.2 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast had lots of flavour and the view was good too. The staff are really friendly and helpful who speak both English and Spanish. There is a little black dachshund dog ( sausage dog, colloquial name) and a ginger cat that belong to the owners that are friendly. Lots of tropical plants are around the property too.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Fantastic staff - all really friendly and helpful, comfy bed, excellent hot shower, delicious breakfasts, lovely chilled out atmosphere and very cute dog!
Cons: Would have been nice to have 2 chairs to sit outside the room - but was a very minor issue as there where a couple of benches to use.

7.1 Good
Pros: The location was good and central, the staff friendly and helpful. The breakfasts were good and the common areas were lovely.
Cons: The rooms were not as comfortable as expected and unfortunately the bed in the unit seemed to have something in it that bit us and had us scratching all night - perhaps they need to fumigate that bed for future guests.
6.5 Good
Pros: Beautiful garden. Clean and comfortable room despite the humidity.
Cons: No insolation btw cabins, awaken everyday at 6am by our neighbours. Very basic breakfast. Front desk staff very cold and not offering any help or suggestion for the region.

Pros: Great location, close to a supermarket and restaurants. The staff was very friendly, including booking activities and transport. The breakfast was delicious and it changed every day. At one point, the staff showed me the sloth that comes to a tree across the street. Great place!
Cons: Nothing
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Our room was clean and big, the bed very comfy. The staff was extremely helpful and gave us many valuable information about excursions and the national parks. We enjoyed the clean and well equipped kitchen and used it a lot for cooking. We really liked our time in this hostel and should we visit Santa Elena again, we would stay here!
Cons: The owners seem to have made some very bad experiences, our room was full of ban notes (if you do xy, fine of 50 USD).

7.9 Good
Pros: The kitchen was well equipped and breakfast was plentiful. The bathroom was decent with hot water. It is also located right on the edge of town, only a minutes walk from the supermarket.
Cons: The outside area wasn't great as there were a few plastic chairs and the hanging seats were always wet despite being under cover. The bed was ok but the pillows were very lumpy. They had a card machine but it wouldn't work on either of the days we tried to pay, there are cash machines in town, the one next to the supermarket did not charge me any upfront fees.
6.7 Good
Pros: Location is good, a few steps from the town centre
Cons: Somebody went crazy with signs of things which are forbidden; we counted four just in our room. Very authoritarian breakfast arrangement..

Pros: Really close to the center and great breakfast
Cons: Bed where not comfortable and small for tall people
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Everything look spotless and very in very good conditions. The shower pressure was very nice. The location was perfect and thankfully this hotel is one of the few that has a paved road in front of them, made the access of strollers easier. The breakfast was nice.
Cons: The rooms were a bit too humid and with little to no ventilation. Monteverde gets chilly at night, but the wood and everything made it too humid for my comfort. Maybe a fan would be nice for next time.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Good location to walk to everything, Front desk was extremely helpful and friendly.
Cons: We were freezing and there was no heater. No hot water either....
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This place is amazing! Very nice wooden interiors, cozy room (if a bit tight on space), and tasty pancake breakfasts (or other options - there's a set breakfast menu to choose from). Featured amenities include luggage storage, laundry facilities, and a safe deposit box at the front desk. A roundtrip airport shuttle is provided for a surcharge during limited hours, and free self parking is available onsite.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful surroundings, great breakfast and not far from town or the volcano
Cons: The beds had these plastic like mattress protectors on them which were very hot and made so much noise every time you moved during the night. They were very uncomfortable, best to use cotton protectors
10.0 Excellent
Pros: it was perfect
7.5 Good
Pros: Nice helpful staff. Depends on individual taste but this hotel has a modern contemporary look from the outside and dated feel on the inside (dark wood panelling/furniture) but with a lot of character. Room was good with a lovely bay type seating area complete with sliding windows overlooking front garden (Room 3). Only stayed one night so no time to look around hotel and grounds. Looked like lovely well kept gardens. Hotel in excellent location - 15 minute walk on access road to Monteverde National Park entrance.
Cons: General hotel layout a bit unorthodox. Breakfast choice limited/basic. Breakfast room lacks atmosphere with functional furniture and in need of revitalisation. Light and airy though.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The front desk staff was very helpful in booking excursions. The restaurant served a very nice dinner, reasonably priced, excellent service. We had two rooms, one in the main building and one further up a hill. We had assistance getting the bags to the room. They have a nice happy hour. Beautiful grounds.
Cons: Traveled with my 80 year old mom, not very accessible. The room in the main lodge had a bit of steep stairs, and the other room was a pretty good walk. Must back into parking space.
7.9 Good
Pros: Amazing view from the room, comfortable bed, room had modern design and was quite big. Nice balcony like setup in the room, so you can just sit and watch the view.
Cons: We came at off season and were almost the only guests in the hotel (1 more at the first night, 2 more at the second). Reception was slow to respond, didn't answer phones most of the time. The hotel bar was closed. Breakfast was the poorest we had during our 3 weeks in costa rica, and it seems that in different times it was much much richer (from booking photos). No refrigerator in the room. Location is too far from anything important, so a vehicle is a must.
6.3 Good
Pros: Great views.
Cons: The hotel internet and televisions were down the entire time when it mainly rained for the whole stay. So there was nothing to occupy the kids.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was ok. Location and room are great.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The staff was great! Specifically Cesar and Randal.
Cons: No coffee pot in the rooms

9.2 Excellent
Pros: Staff was super helpful, and the room was large and comfortable with no need for AC, so it was very relaxing after less comfortable hotels - and we heard many tourists complaining about humidity in their hotels, which wasn’t the case here - all things relative, you’re still in Costa Rica.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The restaurant had a nice porch where we could sit in the afternoon and enjoy a tea or coffee and look at the birds. The staff was very friendly and we enjoyed the breakfast very much. The location of the place is great - away from the busy town centre of Santa Elena.
Cons: The view from our room wasn't as attractive as we hoped it would be.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was great. We liked the walking trail and location close to, but not in, town. It is a good place from which to explore all that Monte Verde has to offer. Good restaurants are within walking distance and downtown is a short taxi ride away.
Cons: The rooms were a little small.
7.1 Good
Pros: The quietness of the place, the nice staff, the location and the little garden with its cute trail to discover many kinds of birds
Cons: The room had a really weird and unpleasant smell
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Location is right at the edge of the national park in monteverde, with balcony perfect for scenery and real bird watching. Free Al carte breakfast, and staff was helpful arranging tours, recommendations, etc. Delightful stay for my wife and me.

7.9 Good
Pros: Good location with nice view behind. The owner is very nice and helpful. Only ~10 minutes away from Monteverde Cloud Park.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Extremely helpful the older lady at the reception as well as all the staff! Breakfast is home made and very good! The room is very clean and they really try to make it bug-free even though we are technically in the nature.
Cons: A bit of a walk to downtown but I think it's fine and usually a very pleasant walk. We did see spider coming into our room but staff are helpful in taking them out...
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We enjoyed everything about our stay. There were monkeys in the trees by the kitchen. Breakfast was great, friendly staff who doted on our children, strong wifi, clean rooms, no bugs, great view. Highly recommended.
Cons: The hotel is right on the main road through town (but so are most of the other hotels too!) and the traffic is loud. If you require absolute silence to sleep, book a hotel that is not in town and stay somewhere out in the hills.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The magnificent view from the bed
Cons: The limited ability of the land lady
7.9 Good
Pros: Friendly and helpful staff. The room was really nice with a view on the vegetation and the mountains. Comfortable bed. Breakfast was good and generous. The style of the interior was unique.
Cons: Maybe the access to the city: not very far by foot but not a pleasant walk on the side of the road, but it's quite common for some of the hotels in this area. Rooms are not completely sound-proof.
2.5 Mediocre
Pros: Nothing. This place has no customer service and no Integrity whatsoever.
Cons: 5 times in CR and this was our only disappointment! The woman at the front desk didnt speak any English but she told us that she worked in the hotel industry in USA for 20+ years in Mississippi or something like that. And she didn't pick up any English? What a con!! When I emailed before our arrival, a gentleman said no AC but when we checked in we asked again. The woman said yes they have air!! So I was very excited. We go to the room and I asked her where the air conditioning is. She points to the ceiling fan. Again. Don't tell me she doesn't know the words "air conditioning" especially working at a hotel in the south!! It was VERY hot in the room. We called the manager on the phone and told her that we cannot check in and stay there b/c of heat. She said just to stay for one night and try it. I told her no because I have fibromyalgia. I explained that I need a good sleep or my pain is Amplified. She proceeded to tell me about my syndrome. Quite incorrectly I might add. She said that fibromyalgia is arthritis and it doesn't have anything at all to do with your quality of sleep. I tried educating her and we just kept arguing. I told her we would try it for one night. The lady told us to open the windows. The windows were maybe about 1/10th of the entire window but we opened them and went out to eat. We came back and the room was full of insects! All kinds! And there was some type of reptile poop on the bathroom floor now. Definitely could have been a snake. I Googled it. Also, could not sit on toilet properly bc it was pushed up to shower door and all the rooms are like 10ft from the main road!! LOUD! We called and spoke to a very rude man. He said he would not give our money back and challenged me to go and leave him a bad review - that he didn't care! I do not believe he is a native costa rican b/c they are not like this. We left after the one night and never got our $$ back for the other 2.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: As a wheelchair user, The rooms are almost entirely accessible. This was great. The only minor obstacles were the ramp leading into the room which was a little bit steep yet easily manageable. There is one step leading into the reception and breakfast area which is also quite manageable. The owners were extremely friendly and helpful. He arranged a private tour of his farm. Because it was really windy and cold when we were there, they arranged heaters for the room. Anything and everything we wanted was promptly supplied. A real home like atmosphere. I would highly recommend staying here

8.3 Excellent
Pros: Nice view and chilling areas. Staff very helpfull with organising tours and transportation.
Cons: Hard pillows!!
6.0 Good
Pros: The staff was very courteous and helpful. They had a breakfast included that was excellent with a nice variety of different things each day. Breakfast could be had indoors or out on a patio with a nice view.
Cons: The beds were very hard and uncomfortable, and amounted to a mattress on a frame that had no box spring. There were no comfortable chairs or a patio one could sit out on, unless you went over the the main building. Our room was in the building next to the main building and it looked it had been hastily sided with with aluminum siding and a tin roof. Although there is a view, the windows can not be opened making the place a greenhouse without any vents; there wasn't even a bathroom exhaust and it was obvious the place was not insulated. So with no air conditioning, and unable to even open a window, and only a single floor stand fan the place was unbearable in the daytime. Before returning from our days activities we had to open the door and position the fan to blow in as much cool air as we could. With some improvements on the issues I've mentioned it could be a nice place. The room itself was low on the scale of what I'd call "the basics."
8.3 Excellent
Pros: I stay in a doble room with own bathroom in the first floor. The room was really clean and I had a grandios view to the golf of Nicoya. The staffs are very friendly. The breakfast was very simply and not to much, but if you want more you get it.
Cons: The bed and pillows are uncomfortable and hard. Also the sheets are a litle bit old and thin.
7.1 Good
Pros: very helpful reception, nice social area
Cons: our roof was leaking when it rain
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We stayed for one night in the deluxe room. The front desk is a cool dude that’s super friendly and really cares about his guests and their comfort. You get very good value for money! Would definitely stay there again
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Bed was comfortable. View from our room was amazing. Breakfast was very good. Staff was very friendly.
Cons: Can't think of anything.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Great breakfast, friendly staff and free tea and coffee! Amazing view over the town.
Cons: Sometimes hard to get into the shared bathroom. Although we appreciated it, Cleaners would be in there before check out time.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: I loved the terrasse with hanging chairs. The breakfast is included and is good. The location is great, near restaurants and supermarkets.
Cons: The Wifi was weak in our room and it was a little noisy in the morning (our room was near the kitchen). But overall we enjoyed our stay and the hotel had a good vibe/ambience.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Place was very solid. Breakfast was real nice also. I would recommend staying here. Gives a nice jump off point to see other stuff in the area.

9.1 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is beautiful! The view is amazing especially from the upper buildings where you can see all the way over the mountains to the the gulf and to guanacoste in the distance. The rooms were very nice and very comfortable beds and very clean. They have their own hiking trails at the top and it was wonderful to hike at our leisure through the cloud forest. They have their own zip line but we did not try it, but it seemed a nice quiet option compared to others. We saw lots of wildlife right there at the lobby and the dinner at the restraint was amazing! We talked about it the rest of our trip! And service in the restaraunt combined with the atmosphere definitely makes it a fine dining experience. The hotel is also a nice distance from town. The amenities are very nice. We would consider staying here again.
Cons: The only negatives to this hotel were actually minor ones that would have just made it a more perfect experience overall. The fact that it is in such a large area they use shuttles to take you from one location to another. It is extremely steep and long to walk/hike especially to upper buildings with the beautiful view, so the shuttle is almost mandatory unless you are in excellent shape. They are more than happy to shuttle and most times are timely except there were a couple of times that we needed to wait up to 15 minutes for the shuttle. Otherwise the shuttle service was very good. The breakfast buffet was very nice but the view from the big beautiful window is the staff parking lot and bushes. It was a shame it didn't have a view, but I suppose you can't always have the exceptional view. The family pool/workout area was very nice and under an open canopy. The pool was a somewhat comfortable temperature but it was very cold with the night mountain air blowing in and there was no hot tub which could have made it a nicer experience.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The view is amazing, room was beautiful with vaulted ceilings; the view from anywhere on the property is amazing; staff was friendly, food was good- no complaints- the resort is on a steep hillside, it's really not an issue ( 40 second drive from the bottom or 3-5 min slow walk to our room 3/4 of the way up the property) -shower is like niagra falls and as hot as you can stand- my wife had no complaints and that is amazing - two thumbs up from Santa barbara ca.
Cons: The Grass was too green, too many rainbows in the distance , sky was too blue, Saw too much ocean From our deck/ lanai :) Our girls had too much fun ( 4 and 7 ) - the room was too big Don't hesitate, go. I've stayed in some pretty nice places and this one won't disappoint, despite a few reviews I read before going ( I'm still spoiled living in Santa barbara ca and have some reasonable expectations, my wife on the other hand sets the bar very high and had no complaints which was shocking- even she was shocked when she said it )
5.4 Okay
Cons: We had a medical issue, and the hotel does not have a protocol to attend emergencies, we call reception for an ambulance or a doctor and they couldn't resolve us.
4.6 Okay
Pros: No extra towels, blankets , room was plain
Cons: Was not what i expected to description of the booking.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The views are AH-MAZING! The beds were comfortable and the bathroom really spacious.
Cons: Breakfast was the same everyday and the steps leading up to the loft in the suits are super slippery!!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The room, the view, the staff, the location, the breakfast was just wonderful.
Cons: I liked everything!

9.6 Excellent
Pros: Amazing views, great facilities and located in a stunning environment
8.0 Excellent
Cons: Problem with handicap parking from check in. Could not get to room for more than half hour due to tour bus blocking lot. Reception said they checked in before you. Nearly every time we tried to come or go a bus was in the way.
6.3 Good
Pros: Location and staff
Cons: Food costa and noise level.

6.7 Good
Pros: The size of the room, clean bed.
Cons: The temperature of water in bathroom not hot enough
6.7 Good
Pros: Size of room and cleanliness.
Cons: My Room entry / corridor area was not lit at night, I had to use my iPhone flash light to see the room Number, to confirm I was at the right door. Water in shower and washbasin was barely lukewarm, not hot.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Nice hotel, very helpful staff, perfect English and willingly arranged canopy trip, pick up in front of the hotel. Room spacious and clean with a nice garden view. Delicious traditional Costa Rican breakfast buffet.
6.3 Good
Pros: Good breakfast.
Cons: Very noisy. They started to cut the grass at 6am in the morning.
6.7 Good
Pros: The outside property was pretty with gardens
Cons: I thought the price was high esp for low season. I found much nicer places for less cost. The shower had a clogged shower drain. Smelled a little musty and was very cold.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The staff and host were super friendly and helpful. They accomodate us in a better and cheaper room for the family. Pura vida!
Cons: Sometimes the shower was not very hot, but still very good.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The rooms have plenty of space and sleeping areas. The staff is super nice and helpful. The breakfast was delicious. Located up on a hill, nice view.
6.8 Good
Pros: The hotel itself is beautiful, the landscaping is breathtaking and it's really quite wonderful.
Cons: The walls are EXTREMELY thin. You can hear someone sneeze. No exaggeration. I'd bring ear plugs or try and make sure no ones next to you.
8.5 Excellent
Pros: Ease of parking. Friendly staff. Good breakfast. Proximity to Santa Elena (5-10min walk).
Cons: Towels didn't smell great. Hot water in the shower was sporadic. Having a mini fridge would be nice.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I came to Monteverde just for the ziplining and hanging bridges at Selvatura Park. This hotel was in a great location to go there by rented car. The hotel includes a great typical breakfast every morning. The rooms are quiet and the beds are comfortable. Not many luxuries, but it's a great place to sleep and shower.
Cons: If you use google maps for directions to this hotel, the last street it has you turn on before reaching the hotel is very steep with dirt and loose gravel. It was pouring rain when we arrived so my two wheel drive SUV had trouble making it up. Would have been no trouble with a 4x4 vehicle, but even then I would go around and use one of the other streets to get to the hotel.
4.2 Okay
Pros: hotel facilites, as well as breakfast was great
Cons: the clerk at the front desk was often unkowledgable about local acitivies, and we even had to call our previous hotel's front desk to arrange our monteverde activites. at other times, the clerks were misinformed and gave ur factually incorrect information

Cons: The oven wasn’t working was the only bad thing I found but lots of burners so it wasn’t that big a deal.

5.4 Okay
Pros: The staff member named named Jason was very courteous. The breakfast was tasty.
Cons: We paid close to 90 dollars for a late night arrival and although we paid the superior price the room that our friend rents which was 25 less was basically the same. Only difference was a shower or tub.
7.1 Good
Pros: The views
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The view !!!!
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful area
Cons: Rooms are not very well lit.
7.9 Good
Pros: The staff here was so nice, and accommodating as much as they could with what they had. The view, when visible is the reason to be here. The rooms are pretty spacious and clean.
Cons: We were here during unseasonably cold and wet weather. It was so humid, the walls of the room and floor remained wet for the entire stay. They do not have heaters but did offer us extra blankets. Note that even though it's not that far from Santa Elena, the drive is about 30 min. We decided to leave early because it was too cold, but because I paid for the entire stay upfront, they couldn't refund us. Understandable, but a little frustrating because had I asked to pay day by day, they probably would have let us.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: He view was phenomenal, the cabin was very comfortable and breakfast was perfect.
Cons: There was no hot water.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The view of Arenal volcano and the rain forest below.
Cons: We had no Wi-fi at the rooms. The lodge worked ok though.
7.9 Good
Pros: I thought the manager was very nice, the breakfast was good, the young lady at the desk was nice but did not speak any English so communicating a bit hard. The location is amazing, the view of the volcano and distant mountains spectacular.
Cons: The property was going through some renovations, getting ready to be sold. It appeared some things had been neglected in the last few years. This lodge has the potential to be spectacular just due to the view. Private and quiet location in the country. Wish I could afford to buy it!
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Friendly and welcoming Family who run the Lodge. Very helpful with all questions about tours and things to do in the area. The views from the lodge is the best in this part of Costa Rica
Cons: There should be better directions to get there, we had trouble finding the place when we arrived.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great hospitality- family run, helps planning with daily excursions and meals
Cons: The weather was foggy during our stay and possibly all the time
