The people! Eric and his wonderful staff especially Abdullah who was charming. Eric gave lots of information regarding the area, the history, the culture and the local people which was very interesting and couldn't have been more welcoming and friendly.
The Orient suite was lovely, just felt our bathroom was a little basic and some bits of hotel were getting a little tired and in need of a bit of maintenance and freshening up. But the character and charm was fab.
No TV & internet
Dar Malak was a beautiful refuge of calm and tranquility amongst the hustle and bustle of Marrakech. We spent large parts of the day relaxing in the living area that opened out onto the shared courtyard with fountain and greenery. The cat and the tortoise were a highlight for the kids. The oriental suite was very roomy with space between where we and the childrem slept that allowed us to read /talk etc after they had gone to sleep. The bathroom was large and the furnishings were lovely. The paintings throughout the riad are by the French owner Eric, he was extremely helpful supplying us an excellent map and tips on where to go, what to see and where to eat at what price. He orgainsed a fab day trip to the moutains, with lovely varied sceney
English is spoken but is Erics second language and wasnt what he did the commentary on the trip -which didnt really matter as there was so much to look at. Breakfasts were great but we never managed the free mint tea in the afternoon as we werent there or the staff werent there. They were pepared to put on early breakfast for us on the day we left which was great. When we asked they did do a load of washing for us for free which was great but wasnt offered. Very minor complaints overall this is an excellent place to stay
Friendliness of staff with a good homely feel. Located in the centre of the medina was also a fun experience.
Breakfast was only just about acceptable.
Eric was incredibly helpful, organising transfers to and from the airport, restaurants etc. Ideal location to explore the old city. Very accommodating (prepared breakfast early to accommodate flight times). Nice tortoise.
No real complaints, very minor things. Pay by cash to avoid small credit card charges. We were under the impression that the airport transfer cost was for both ways until the bill showed that it was for each way.
Eric is very accomodating and gracious. The traditional breakfast was great and the rooms were clean and exactly as described on the internet.
Fantastic staff! Wonderfully comfortable and a ´home from home´which is very welcome in Marrakech. I would highly recommend it.
The ambience of the place and very personal approach of the management. The manager went out of his way to make our stay as nice as possible, including making arrangemets for day trips and outings.
Very nice ambiance in the center of the Medina with great and pleasant staff.
Make sure that someone who knows the Medina or the owner Eric brings you to the Dar Malak, otherwise you will get lost for sure!
Very friendly staff; always polite, helpful and smiling.
None, it was more than I expected.
