Pros: We enjoyed our stay very much! Impeccable service, especially during breakfast, wonderful breakfast buffet with rolls, pastries, cold cuts, Müsli, Omelette station and local delicacies, rooms spotlessly clean (although on the small side), great rooftop sauna with view of the city. The only complaints we have is that we weren't helped with finding a rental car (it was a busy weekend) and that the gym equipment was minimal. Othwerwise great hotel within walking distance of all Lubeck landmarks and restaurants!

Pros: Location was perfect. Very central for Lubeck. Everywhere was walkable. We ate once in the restaurant and the meal was very nice. Breakfast was very good with loads of choice and very reasonably priced. Room very good and bed very comfortable.

Cons: Initially I was charged twice for the room but this was partly my fault as I didn't check my bill properly until I got home. The hotel were very prompt in correcting this error without any fuss so well done.

Cons: About a month we stayed in a cheaper hotel, for about %30 of the price. The room was identical to this one. I find the extra money we paid isnt really justified for just good breakfast. Nothing was bad and we are happy with our stay, but it isnt exactly the best value for money.

Pros: Great location right between the railway station and the old town. Good river views and we had amazing rooms with views of it all. I loved the cosy feeling in the rooms with the light and colours - one of the cosiest hotel rooms I have ever stayed in actually. Despite the curtains not being dark, they were thick, and certainly darkened the room nicely at night. Cool mini bar corner with lit up shelves, and space for kettle etc. underneath so the room did not have a cluttered feel. I loved the light switch by the bed which allowed you to light up the hall by the toilet at night if needed, without disturbing others, and the electrical sockets by the bed for your mobile. It all felt very thought through. Nice room temperature and a good shower in the bathroom. Two of us loved the beds and the third had a better and better experience each night, and think it might be tensions released after a couple of nights in a better bed than at home. Breakfast was nice with an omelette chef who would also boil other eggs than those on offer. Loved the very generous breakfast hours until 11.00 every day (that in itself would make me stay again), and most things on offer in the buffet full of fresh fruit, cheeses, quark and German sausage and bread amongst other things. If you stayed late you were asked if you wanted anything before they started to close down. Staff was friendly everywhere from reception to cleaning and restaurants. The pool area clean and with good opening hours, with a decent size pool. Did not try the Nautilo restaurant but the Kogge pub had some nice dishes and good German beer and wine, whilst the cocktail bar had a good selection of drinks.

Cons: Our oldest guest with poor vision lacked ceiling light in the room. We also lacked wine glasses and had to use champagne ones as there was only that or beer glasses in our shelves. The TV could have one more channel in English which did not focus on news. The pool was perhaps 1-2 degrees too cool even if you get used to it. These issues were minor to us but worth mentioning. I would change the slippers to more traditional hotel slippers as textile "flip flop" slippers are hard to put on, especially when wet. The pool area could also have had drinking water available by the sun beds, and made a jacuzzi out of one of the two saunas, but again, just my preference. Breakfast could include lose boiled eggs from the start so you don't have to ask/wait, and the scrambled eggs need to be less dry and more creamy, which surprised us that they were since the omelettes were so good. Our main negative issue was otherwise that we arrived on a Sunday when only the Kogge pub was open and when we checked in, we should perhaps have been asked if we wanted to make a booking as it was fully booked when we later went to have dinner after a day travelling. The pub staff also said they had no idea when there would be a free table. This was OK for two of us who could wait in the bar, but if you are older and cannot sit on bar stools you have a problem (also with walking all the way back later). Luckily we did not have to wait long in the end, but it was a bit of a stressful event we and the staff could have been without. Kogge seems a bit under dimensioned and might need a solution for persons with less mobility.

Cons: We were initially put in a room different from our booking.com choice, until they checked and found their mistake. Then they informed us that they had switched the air conditioning off. Our room was hot so someone came to allow the window to fully open to let in some cool. Unfortunately, we faced the back courtyard where deliveries and very noisy repairs were done. One day they forgot to put towels in the room.

Cons: The wifi was dreadful and we were barely able to access the internet. The room smelt when we arrived and we had to request extra cleaning. The room size was adequate but a little congested. You have to lug your cases up the stairs from the entrance to the reception. The room was hot even when we turned the radiator off.

Cons: Firstly, it should have indicated on their booking page that the swimming pool was out of service for the whole month of August and have different opening times for the sauna in the summer. We only found out as we had already checked in. Upon check out, we were told that there was an alternative service to go to the nearest gym which has pool facilities but by there we were ready to go home . For a 4* hotel, there were no extra towels, pillows available. There could have been complimentary toiletries provided rather than cheap hand-hair-body soap which you get from 2*/3* hotels. Breakfast again wasn't that great. Poor selection to start with. Hotel could have offered freshly squeezed juices rather than post mixed ones. Parking wasn't free and an extra 15 Euros

Cons: it is a European problem. two beds put close together with two separate douvets called a double bed - well it is not. This was the only turn off for us in the whole stay. Please get double beds and double douvets. That would be more conducive to a romantic break.

Pros: The position of the hotel is good - about a 20 minute walk to the centre of Lübeck. Free carpark directly beside the hotel. Breakfast is fine, with a good selection of coffees. The breakfast staff kept things clean and filled up. Wifi was good.

Cons: The rooms at the front of the hotel are loud. Our room wasn't very clean - hair in the bed, dust on the shelves intended for putting clothes on. Very basic furniture, also in the breakfast room, but for the price ok. We would prefer a personal check-in rather than the machine. The lack of a lift could be a problem for some.

Cons: You can tell that it's budget - they save money on everything that they can. There is even no ceiling lamp, but the one that there is, is sufficient and actually ingenious.

Cons: The maid bursting in my room when I was naked wasn’t great! No knock before using a key and bursting in. Mercifully I was by the door and stopped her entering in time! The receptionist was very apologetic and helpful.

Pros: Rooms were very clean, in a beautiful, historic house and there was beautiful view of other old buildings from the window. Location was perfect, it was right in the historic centre, so you were at all the main attractions within minutes when walking. The train station was also very close by ( about 10-15 minutes walking). Very nice and charming neighborhood.The staff were very helpful and informative. Great value for money and would highly recommend!

Cons: As this was the cheapest hotel with en suite bathroom in old Lubeck, and I enjoyed my stay, I am not going to complain.

Pros: Excellent location. Lovely town. In general, good beds.
Cons: We booked at room for 5 but got one for 4. The receptionist pretended that nothing had happened. When we realized, we returned to the reception and another receptionist sorted it out. The key for returning after 22 didn't really work, so we ended up with another (drunk) guest trying to get in. Quite a laugh. Especially when a by-passer managed to open the door. In the afternoon, the door handle to the room came off, so we weren't able to get back in, but luckily the staff seemed very used to this situation and had the necessary tools right at hand. We were in in about 10 minutes so that was great. We enjoyed the church bells through out the night, actually, truly.

Cons: Discovered that toilet was leaking on sewage side at 9:59 pm. A complaint stated at the reception at 10 pm caused a counter-complaint by the receptionist, why we bother him exactly when he was about to leave at closing time. We'd been virtually hurried out of our room onto the hallway (with very unpleasant physical support by the receptionist). Received a key for an alternative room on the doorstep, and had been blankly left by a grousing receptionist.
