Room and facilities were very clean.
It was great for what it was, a bed for the night. Noise from street(I know that can't be helped) but it kept us up for most of our stay. It was very clean but basic. Definitely not worth the price I paid.
All young people, felt like I was back at uni, one staff member staying in my room got upset because I asked her & others to keep it down as I was working next day, all about 15yrs my junior, next day they were all extremely hostile towards me, bullying tactics. Staff member in my room (Sara) was having a party ina nearby room next night, I notified another member of staff that was cleaning and he knocked their door and said 'I dont care but there's a lady complaining', music was pounding at gone 11 at night, I was still nearby and I heard Sara say 'is that that white lady from 101', didnt care basically, run by completely immature staff with no customer service skills, no lift, never working, welcome back to uni, worst place for mature students/workers/families, perfect for juveniles/immature adults/students/freeloaders... Bunkbeds are horrendous, small/uncomfortable and rock at every slight moment, I left after 2 days (I had a 15 day reservation fully paid) and complained and nothing offered back just a pathetic half hearted apology about having 650 rooms...and!!! Building is REALLY OLD, windows v thin, v noisy but can imagine so cold in winter!
I don’t even know where to start. 1. No lockers in the dorms. They’re at the entrance and not free. 2. The WiFi signal is inexistant in the dorms. Only available in TV room or close to the reception 3. No sockets in the dorms. People were charging their devices in the corridor, in the TV room or in the dining area. There are like 4 sockets in the TV room which are functional and that’s about it. 4. No Kitchen. Only a bar/restaurant and vending machines. 5. Bathrooms are dirty and clearly not sufficient for the number of people living there 6. No private lights for the beds. So when someone enters the dorm at 2am they have to turn on the dorm lights and it wakes everyone up. 7. Very noisy area and not that close to the underground either.
The room was cramped a bit
An old building, without lift. Lots of walking up stairs and down
Amenities, room options
Lots of Screaming young children
The Rest Up London Hostel is known as one of the best and gauging from its outward appearance that would be easy to believe. The charming, brick front building with its terrace garden and wonderful location on the New Kent Road makes it an appealing spot. Just a short walk to Elephant & Castle tube station and 15 miles to Heathrow Airport, it is also just a mile from sites like the Tower of London, Parliament and Big Ben, Trafalgar Square and Piccadilly Circus. It is within the same area as the Imperial War Museum and London South Bank University, as well.
A pre-WWI baroque building, it is a historic property and has been a hostel for more than 100 years. It features such amenities as a shared TV room, a beautiful terrace with covered tables and fun bean bag chairs. It has an onsite coffee shop and snack bar, there is free Wi-Fi in the public areas, a ticketing and tour desk, baggage storage option, laundry services (for a fee) and even some business services. Visitors can enjoy traditional breakfast each morning, pizza at night and healthier fare in the restaurant. They also offer group menus.
The rooms include shared dorm rooms with options for four to a room or twenty beds in a dorm-style setting. The rooms are mixed gender, but there is a single four-bed female dorm. There are also twin and double rooms, and some even offer private baths at no cost.
If an affordable and high-quality accommodation is the goal, but also one in one of the best spots in London, it will be hard to beat what the Rest Up London Hostel makes available to travelers of all kinds.
