Stayed 2 nights and then another 1 night. Delicious and different breakfasts served each morning. Hospitable staff, remembered us and what we liked. Quaint place. Wonderful views from dining room. Our 2 dinners were among best in Charlevoix.
Very friendly and helpful owners / staff. Good food and comfortable accommodation.
Room was comfortable. Breakfast (included) was delicious. Lovely dining room.
Only that the shower was very small.
The hosts were very nice, pleasant and attentive throughout, and language was by no means a problem. (This was a bit of a concern for us before we got there, as we don't speak much French.) The breakfast, served between 8 and 9AM, was awesome! They make something different and delicious every morning (their creations were an inspiration for future breakfasts at home!!) but you don't feel like having that, you can simply ask for eggs, cereals, etc. There was enough food to last us through to the late dinners (8PM or after) even though we enjoyed rather strenuous activities every day, with only small snacks of nuts & chocolate and water/tea in between. We didn't try their restaurant for dinner, so can't comment on that. The hot tub was awesome to relax in after long days of hiking and/or climbing in the Charlevoix area -- and I still can't imagine how they got the dang thing up to the second floor and into the bathroom! The window between the bathroom & bedroom was... cool and novel. :) On-site parking was always avaialble and never a problem for the whole week we were there. Very close to restaurants & stores (Metro, Provigo, Canadian Tire, a big drug mart, Dollarama); there's even a Subway a bit farther down the street (and a McDonalds if you fancy what they sell). (La Malbaie itself is a great location for exploring the Charlevoix region if you don't feel like camping or a chalet in a park, within a couple of hours' drive of all the big National Parks.)
Given that the room with the hot tub (which we wanted) was on the third floor and the third floor is the attic (mansarde, as they call it in French) the ceiling is peaked -- just look at the roof in the pictures of the property and you'll understand -- so the room felt a bit confined; we constantly had to be careful not to bang our heads, and we are not "big people" (I'm 5'9, my wife is 5'6 and we're both pretty skinny)... someone with a larger frame may have real trouble up there. This was not an issue for us, but some may need to know that there's no elevator in the place, and the stairs are pretty narrow (especially to the second floor), so lugging large/heavy suitcases up and then down may be a challenge to some.
There are so nice :)
