Although you are only a couple of streets away from bustling bars and restaurants the area is incredibly quiet and we slept very soundly. Our Japanese breakfast was fantastic, a real treat!
what an amazing experience! this was our big-ticket stay during our trip to Japan, but the beautiful traditional building combined with the amazing garden, meal, onsen, made the high price tag really worth it.
not a thing. It was tranquil and gorgeous and great location.
The service was just fantastic: professional, kind, and attentive. The food was fabulous. We opted for the 13-course menu and were blown away by the presentation and flavors. Absolutely no faults!! We celebrated my daughter’s birthday at the ryokan, and the staff did a beautiful job of making the experience such a beautiful and memorable one.
I understand that the ryokan is a traditional inn, steeped in history, and this is what makes the place so special. For the nightly price, however, I believe that a few areas really need attention: refreshing/repairing/repainting walls; regrouting bathroom tiles; refreshing the onsen and making it feel “cleaner” ( I have no doubt that from a hygiene point of view there is no issue, but the look could feel better) Overall, the ryokan needs a little extra love to merit the price, in my opinion.
A traditional ryokan in a quiet location in Kyoto. Very welcoming staff, a lovely building and a comfortable stay. We had the dinner, which was wonderfully served and presented. We also had the Japanese breakfast. Do use the communal onsen bath (split male and female).
A bit of road noise at the back of the property.
Amazingly friendly staff and service. Great location and facilities (the Onsen in particular) and a very peaceful place.
