The location and the service was excellent.
Nothing. Everything was great
The hostel is very clean and it's an experience staying there, kind of feels like a 'Black Mirror' episode. The capsule beds have an alarm clock inside that wakes you up using light! Very cool I would recommend trying. The location is super great, just in the middle of the city next to buses and trains.
We payed for all our nights at the check-in. We were asked to pay 20,000 yen even though we booked the hostel for 16,400 yen with booking.com. We were told that the new price includes tax and I argued that the tax addition is usually only 8%. Finally, the staff gave us a discount and we payed 18,000 yen. (Still more then what I booked for!).
Its not a capsule hotel and it is just a hostel in which every room has 30 guests sleeping there, with just a curtain to close the “capsule”. The noise its really uncomfortable and I couldn’t slept for more than 4 hours every night. I had an alarm clock from another guest from 5:30 am to 7:00 am ringing every 5 minutes. Also, another guest suddenly started smoking in the room. I went to the counter to inform the problem and the staff didn’t pay any attention to the problem. I made the formal complain to the manager and asked for some compensation or the return of my money, and the only answer that she gave me was that they didnt refund any money and we could leave the premises at that moment, at that time was 9:00 pm and it was raining. She pretend that we had to spend the night on the street, because we made a complain of people that had not follow the rules. It is ironic because customers that doesn’t follow the rules can stay and we that have a good behavior, have to leave the hotel. With my wife tried to call booking.com to inform the situation but it was imposible. In resume, in order to don’t spend the night on the street that night we paid even more of the normal tariff to be able to stay in the “capsule”. It was the worst hotel that we have spend the night and we want our money back. Nine hours Kyoto hotel doesn’t has idea of what is customer service and as I let they know at that moment, they stole my money and ruin my holidays.
Great location. Very quiet, good night’s sleep. Exceptionally clean.
Nowhere to make tea/coffee. Check in not until 3pm although you can drop off bags. Bear in mind if you stay more than one night you do not have access to your bags/lockers between 10-12am although we didn’t find it a problem as we were out all day.
You have to check in all the days again that is not convenient if you want to stay more than one night
With a stay at nine hours Kyoto in Kyoto (Central Kyoto), you'll be steps from Kawaramachi and 3 minutes by foot from Nishiki Market. Featured amenities include a 24-hour front desk, multilingual staff, and luggage storage.
