The positive and imaginative philosophy of the owner, which resulted in the friendliness of all the staff, the quality of the accommodation and food, the value for money and the many little 'extras' provided.
The access from the road is a little difficult. Our bedroom did not have a mirror in a well-lit area.
The food was excellent and the staff friendly and very helpful. The shower and bath were very good and the bed comfortable. The room was small, but there was plenty of storage.
The lighting in the room wasn't very good, but this is mainly down to the energy saving bulbs, I hate them, but I expect the hotel has to use them nowadays.
We enjoyed a lovely weekend at this hotel. Adam, the manager, was really welcoming and gave us lots of info on places we could visit. We had planned on walking but I had forgotten the walking boots!!! Adam was kind enough to lend his. The food both at breakfast and in the evening was really good. All the people that we met, Mike, Adam, Roz and Anthony were kind and helpful. We definitely intend to stay here again.
The hotel is a lovely house, tastefully developed into a very comfortable hotel, yet retaining many of the original features of the old stable block it once was. The welcome was very friendly and warm, and all the staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful throughout our stay. The lounge area, with the conservatory and comfy furniture, and the tables and chairs was versatile, welcoming and inviting. Breakfast was lovely, and served in a charming manner by the young waiter. We were offered guidebooks and maps of the surrounding area if we needed them. the stable bar was welcoming and a quaint and atmospheric place to enjoy a drink. The owner could not have been more friendly and helpful. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and want to go again
There was a warm and friendly welcome nothing being to much trouble for any of the staff. The rooms were quite comfortable The food was impeckable but could do with a light snacks menu in the evening.
It is the best small hotel we have ever stayed in. The staff are friendly and the Proprietor goes the extra mile to make your stay pleasant.
The staff were allvery young and didn't appear to have anyone supervising them. Room wasn't cleaned at all one day and on other days the bed was made but no new/clean towels weren't given and the bathroom wasn't cleaned at all during our stay.
Nice helpfull staff, nice breakfast, good location
Running Hot tap unable to turn off, dirty cups in bedroom, Bin not emptied,
The room looked very good,a very large bed, lovely decore. Dining room lovely and beautiful aspects from hotel.
Openned uht milk in room and was bad.Had evening meal, gave us wine list and then said no wine from it only choice of three! Coudn't sleep at night because a lot of noise until about 2 o clock. Thought from next door but they were complaining as well and said it was the chef and some staff up all night! Husband's sausages at breakfast were cold and didn't smell good and fruit juice looked a funny colour!
Rooms clean and staff very friendly. Ideal location for Keswick and the lakes but without being in busy area. Nice outside area to sit in, weather permitting, and lovely views from light and airy dining conservatory.
Room may be in need of an update, furniture didn't match. Bathroom had coloured suite, odd selection of pictures on walls looked like boot sale finds. Service at breakfast very slow.
