Spectacular location... let me say that again... Spectacular location. Have been to Jodhpur 4 times previously and always stayed at the UB Palace so this was a really refreshing change. To compare the two really isn't possible as they are simply catering to different guests. I really enjoy both. I particularly like the location (as well as the view)... it is great to be able to simply walk from the hotel (we even walked on one day all the way to the fort and back... meeting wonderful locals in the process). I like the urban re-development initiative led by the RAAS team... it is helping local employment and raising the standard of living for locals. The hotel itself is beautiful. Well laid out, with mostly attentive and helpful staff. Here, surprisingly, I found some of the staff were less tolerant or understanding that I am deaf. It is rude to defer talking with me to then only talk to my partner. But that said, we really liked the hotel and most of the staff were gracious - please learn being deaf isn't the same as being stupid - so try not to treat me like that next time we visit. Lovely restaurants... we actually preferred the setting of the lower level one as it felt more spacious and ambient. The food is great at breakfast, the selection of international and local food is good. We enjoyed our visit. One or two minor hiccups or misunderstandings - but nothing that wouldn't stop us visiting again.
This was, I am sure a misunderstanding. Upon arrival we were told abruptly that our travel bottles of water were not allowed into the hotel... and they were taken away from us (these are special plastic, purchased specifically for being light, reusable and 'green' and cost a surprising fortune when we bought them in Spain some years before and have used them all around the world). I demanded them back... no hotel in the world can impose their way of being 'green', especially if it involves taking a guests possessions. This had the real potential to spoil our visit as every time we returned from a walk or one of the day trips we had organised through the hotel we felt the staff were inspecting us for 'plastic'. NOT GOOD! Other than this our main grip was the 'organised/curated' trips... they were nothing of the sort. The hotel had simply booked a car/driver and local guide... nothing at all to do with the hotel. This was a shame and despite the fact that the driver was charming and the guide friendly and informative left a poor impression. The main grip was the terribly dismissive way the hotel criticised and questioned when we had just arrived we had booked out own guide / car to show us 'off the beaten track' blue city. He was friendly and helpful BUT the hotel were disparaging and dismissive of why we had booked this ourselves... and it was for ONE REASON ONLY... the hotel didn't offer this trip. My lesson/advice would be twofold.. prepare to be questioned about your commitment to 'green issues' and secondly book your own curated trips and be prepared for the 'judgements'!
It was not impressive from out side and approached was not good but inside building was good.
Highly courteous staff, post Oberoi properties in India have come across this level of attention to detail from the Raas Jodhpur staff. These guys literally treated us like family. From the entry gate to front desk, housekeeping to the dining staff were all super people. Had a gala time.
Rooms can be a notch better but no complaints whatsoever.
The views of the mighty fort, the food and the ambience in evenings are irreplaceable in whole of Jodhpur.
Amazing surroundings! The view is just fantastic. Beautiful Hotel.
