Waterfront yes. Beach no.
Great, clean high-end hotel with English speaking staff. We enjoyed our 3 day stay at the Ramada and found it to be a spacious room for our 4 member family. If you're feeling a little adventurous, walking to several sights was no problem. The local taxis are always there to help you find your way back, should you stray too far. They seemed quite familiar with the hotel even in English. The hotel is located on the ocean with a very nice walkway to stroll on. But there is no beachfront. For that you'll have to take a bit of a ride to reach the nearest beaches. The hotel was very gracious when it came to checking in as they let us check in several hours early which helped us out a lot.
Not the hotel's fault, but there is really only 1 city bus that runs in front of the hotel (#30). Also, there is only 1 of the 3 elevators that goes all the way to the ground floor which means you have to walk a ways through the lobby to get out. Like many of the multi-star hotels, the Ramada charges for every little thing including use of the pool, razors and toothbrushes. I've come to understand this is just the way it is.
Fantastic family experience
Traveling in Korea with a 4 member family group can be difficult; particularly in finding adequate hotel rooms. The room at the Ramada was comfortable for all 4 of us and was reasonably priced. The hotel staff spoke a English and our room was ready 2 hours early at no extra cost. The pianist in the lobby created a very soothing and relaxing atmosphere that resonated throughout the hotel. Taxis were everywhere and if you aren't afraid of walking a few blocks, shopping is close by. We had the city (foggy mountain) view that was still pleasant. About 5 blocks south of the hotel is a historic site of old buildings. If you're at the hotel on Sunday there is a live street performance (free) that happens at 1530 each week. Other than the busy elevators, it was hard to tell we weren't alone in the hotel it was so peaceful.
It's quite minor but only one of the elevators goes to the ground floor meaning you have to go the long way through the lobby to get down to the sidewalk if you get on the wrong elevator. We also shopped in the gift shop where my wife found a nice 'pearl' ring. The clerk swore it was a real pearl but the price and feel of the pearl said otherwise.
The hotel was conveniently located near the airport and the scenery was amazing having the ocean view that is unique to Jeju Island.
Many of the facilities required extra payment. It seems reasonable to charge extra for the spa but the swimming pool or the gym facilities should be open for guests.
