Absolutely everything. From arrival through our stay, we had a pleasant and comfortable experience. Our host Louise was kind and knowledgable, the location is great and the house is very nice. Would certainly stay again next time we are in Jasper.
It was a little odd initially that the door was not locked, but this wasn't an issue for us -- our host was always around and we didn't feel anything was at risk. Just something to be aware of for anybody that it might bother.
it wasn’t too cold in the room, the fridge was good and large enough, there is warm heating air at your feet level when you stay in front of the sink in the bathroom, there are chairs and table in the room, I managed to find a position in the bed in which my back would not hurt
you actually stay at owner home. it is sad that tourism and lack of new hotels has inflated cost of living and people have to rent their own homes in order to survive. I am sure they do their best but unfortunately their best can’t match the quality of professional hostelling. when I booked I assumed “shared bathroom” means a private villa exclusively shared between guests. I should have paid more attention to reviews, to understand you are staying with the owner in the same house, not shared just with other guests. The owner has a friendly dog which is prevented to intersect with access to rooms by placing obstacles on the hallway like chairs and table. there is only one bathroom which is shared by everyone attached pictures are for other people to see the dirty water coffee heater and the quality of pillows and sheets.
Louise is a wonderful and extremely helpful host. We have been pleased to stay.
There is nothing to complain about.
It was a lovely place to stay with a very friendly host. Nice room, very clean. The location is close to the center.
Better was a privat bathroom, but actually this was not a problem.
My partner and I spent two nights at Calla's palace in August. The location is fantastic as it is just a short walk from Jasper's town centre. Louise was there when we arrived and welcomed us friendly. There is a dog in the house, but Louise makes sure he doesn't get to the guests' rooms. We had the room on the ground floor just next to the bathroom. As we had read some reviews online before getting there (check TripAdvisor - we didn't when we booked) we weren't expecting too much and were happy with an affordable accommodation in high season. The bathroom seemed quite old, especially the wooden toilet seat which was a little loose and the bath tub. It was all clean though and we could see that Louise takes care of it. Our towels were clean, but there were still some stains on them and they didn't smell fresh. We were offered breakfast in the little area in front of our room. We had cereals, bread, jam, fruits, instant porridge, milk, instant coffee, tea, and hot chocolate. On our first day we noticed there was a small dead spider in the bottle of milk in the fridge, so we decided to buy our own milk and some additional cheese for the toast in the supermarket. One thing we were surprised to discover and socked at the same time was a huge gap next to our door. I discovered it when I looked behind the curtain and I figured out there was no window or anything, just a curtain and a carpet from the other side. I didn't see the point of being able to lock the door when there's a gap big enough for smaller people. To be honest it didn't give us the best feeling of privacy and security as we never knew if the front door was locked. We were able to find our sleep though as we were always very tired. Two nights were alright as it was too late to find something else in August, but we were disappointed with our accommodation and unfortunately can't recommend staying at Calla's Palace.
