7.0 Good
Pros: This hotel was remote - not much close to the hotel but we were looking to disconnect and unwind which is exactly what the hotel provided. A car is necessary for you to explore the island. The room (we booked a Japanese style without realizing it -- my fault!) ended up comfortable and spacious for my family. The pool and beach were very relaxing as well as the several larger public beaches close to the hotel. While the hotel was nice, it was pretty expensive and probably not worth the price tag. I would definitely go back to beautiful Ishigashi but would likely try out another hotel next time.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: We enjoyed the spacious room, the pool always quiet, the views and the beach nearby, but above all the staff, always friendly and helpful with all requests. The hotel is a little out but we had a car so no problems for us, and we really liked the peace and quiet.
Cons: The breakfast was good but lacked variety considering the length of our stay. More fruit from the island would be great ☺️
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Japanese Breakfast was delicious! Staff super friendly and beyond helpful. Room spacious, quiet and clean. All amenities covered. The secluded beach is a few metres away. The pool is small but clean and calm. Such a relaxing and restorative place to stay.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Quiet place and very attentive and kind staffs
Cons: Breakfast was ok- I wish there were more options especially healthy options
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Staff were incredibly helpful and friendly despite my lack of Japanese, and the food was fantastic
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The staff was extremely friendly and helpful in organising day trips for us. Property is very clean and agreeable, the pool area is nice to relax with a few hammocks as well. Nice beach accessible from the pool area. Hot bath with a view on the rooftop is a big plus after a long day of activities !
Cons: Wish to have more Okinawa authentic food on the dinner menu.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The staff is warm and helpful at all times, the facilities are well maintained and clean. The hotel is a few steps away from a beautiful beach. The location is relaxing and quiet. The room was spacious and clean.
Cons: Breakfast/ Meals: I have a few food restrictions that I didn’t think to mention because I assumed breakfast would be a buffet and I would be able to find what works for me. Unfortunately it’s not and no substitution could be made for me, but I do think it would be ideal to have it in order to give guests more options especially ones with small children. More child-friendly options at meals would be great, particularly lunch. Other than this, my stay there was excellent.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This place is a perfect quiet oasis on a lush and remote island in the Pacific Ocean. Our room was fantastic! Very big, with two comfortable big beds, high ceilings, a great view to the ocean and on the pool area, a little balcony and even a small couch. While the climate was hot and very humid, the room was perfectly cooled down by the airco, and we slept very good. The staff is wonderful and helped us with every need - is it booking a restaurant, giving a short ride, ordering a taxi, and most importantly catering for our vegetarian diet. We stayed 4 nights and relaxed two full days at the beautiful and quiet pool area, while a dip into the ocean is only 50 meters away where there's a small and empty beach with calm and shallow waters. After two weeks traveling in Japan this place was our recharge oasis and we enjoyed every single minute while being there! We highly recommend this place if you want some quiet time off the touristy areas to relax and experience fantastic hospitality!
Cons: We liked everything! Just be aware that there's little public transport and you'll be best off with a rental car.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The staff was so friendly! Beautiful hotel with good access to a beach, nice swimming pool and very nice rooms.
Cons: It is a little out of the way (not that far) but if you don't have a car I would not suggest booking here, as busses are very infrequent. This is no way the hotels' fault, just so that people know.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Large rooms, cozy little beach in walking distance, friendly staff and great service.
Cons: Too far out, really needs a car.

8.8 Excellent
Pros: Clean, comfortable, air flow, balcony is very good even it is small in size
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Great stuff, comfortable room with small balconies. We liked the fresh breakfast and the tea and coffee bar that was available all day for free. They also had shirts to lent and a point system if you skip the room service. Great hotel! I would come back here.
Cons: The beds are quiet small and bit too hard for my comfort. Also you need to let your car key at the reception which I found a bit confusing and weird.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Nice staff, free bicycle renting (bike not so good, but it is free!), water and tea available on the ground floor. Good price-quality ratio. Well located. Appreciate you can choose options for room cleaning.
Cons: Breakfast was just ok. Not so many options.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast was very nice and the rooms very clean
Cons: A bit far from the port , no closet in the room
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staffs were so kind and friendly, the room is always clean and I really liked aloha shirts they borrowed us for free!
7.5 Good
Pros: Breakfast was great. Laundry facilities very good. View of sea.
Cons: Double bed was tiny even for Japan standards. Not really suitable for two western size people. Room all up not very comfortable.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very good location, few minutes walk to convenient store, and walking distance to public market. The room was cozy, well designed with multiple USB sockets etc.
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location very handy for bus and ferry transfers and commuting. Staff highly polite and friendly able to communicate in English. Free herbal teas and free Hawaiian shirts to go out during the day (they must be returned). Great local breakfast (unusual as we hoped and expected)
Cons: Only one small detail. The bed was not big enough but both me and my wife are quite tall not just for japanese standard

9.5 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly and considerate staff. “Omotenashi” hospitality. Great attention to small details and needs of guests. Location was great and gave us a small island/village feel. We could walk to various eating establishments and the food in the area were some of the best we’ve had. The beaches nearby (a few minutes by car) were awesome.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Ai and An were incredibly warm and welcoming, and spent time making sure I knew the area, where to eat and how to get around. I am gluten/wheat intolerant and Ai checked on every detailed to ensure my breakfast was ok. The rooms are comfortable, and spacious with a balcony. I really enjoyed the quiet and peaceful environment.
Cons: The time I was there a typhoon hit so limited some activities. The place had common areas and a TV/books but mainly in Japanese (unfortunately I don’t speak the language!)
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast is good. Location is very close to Kabira park, just 2 mins walk. Staffs are nice and very informative, they introduced local restaurants to us which is very delicious at reasonable price. Roof top can see the beautiful view of Kabira coast.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The location was great for transportation, beaches & hikes. The staff were super nice & helpful and went out of their way to make us feel comfortable & enjoy the island with good advice & assistance with bookings.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff, the location (peaceful, yet plenty of good restaurants around) and a very short walk from the bay. Rooms are very clean! Very enjoyable rooftop terrasse and the common area is very cosy.
Cons: Nothing
8.8 Excellent
Pros: We had a 5-night journey at Lulaliya, with our 2 year-old boy. Very friendly guesthouse. The manager welcomed us and provided all the information needed to enjoy our stay in Ishigaki. The staff was always available, kind and helpful. Convenient facilities (cold water, fridge, flyers, outdoor tap and table...) And no mosquito in the room :D We wanted a relax journey to end our trip and Lulaliya was a perfect fit ! Thank you again!
Cons: Air condition in the room was not efficient at all. Maybe needs a fix? The common room was way cooler.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: This hotel was one of the best accommodations I've stayed at in terms of cleanliness. value for money, hospitality, and location. Ai was incredibly hospitable and was incredibly helpful and accommodating! The location could not have been any better. There were super restaurants nearby.
Cons: I would have liked a nicer duvet blanket and possibly nice Japanese Bidet toilets.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The staff was really nice, they gave us a lot of advice and information on the area, with good English level. The room was nice and clean, the balcony was helpful to make the clothes to dry after the beach. The air conditioning was working well. The room was quiet (except when people were talking in the corridors). The location was convenient with restaurants close and reachable by foot.
Cons: The bathroom was a bit small, but it is common in Japan.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Good location
Cons: /
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Simple and bright place. Provide all the basic things you need. Nice host and staffs. Good suggestions for both activities and restaurants. Very close to the Kabira bay and bus stop (within 5 mins). Cost-effective.

9.0 Excellent (196 reviews)
Overview Reviews
With a stay at Jouya in Ishigaki, you'll be a 4-minute walk from Kabira Bay and within a 5-minute drive of Kabira Bay Beach. The front desk is staffed during limited hours. Free self parking is available onsite.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Super friendly host and extremely helpful. Very clean and organised place.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The place is owned by a young couple who are very helpful and informative. We were a family of 4 in a Japanese style room with bathroom, reasonably priced. The location is central and yet very quiet and pleasant. Must try a restaurant ( izakaya) “SETSUKA” where we had a wonderful Okinawa music experience with singer and dancer. We all stood up and danced !
Cons: It was too windy , so we could not leave windows open , but to turn on the air conditioning.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Super friendly staff, who helped us sort car hire and kayaking, with excellent recommendations. The traditional feel to this place is lovely and the location perfect for exploring the picturesque Kabira Bay. Will definitely be back.
Cons: Nothing really. It’s a little bit smelly in the room, but this is probably due to the salty air and there are air fresheners to sort this out.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The nice and friendly staff couples in the hotel are talkative and helpful
9.5 Excellent
Pros: It was big, clean and the the staff was super friendly and helpful.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Waking distance from Kabira bay; super friendly and helpful host (we got a lift to the nearby beach); large air-conditioned room with big comfortable beds; rooftop sitting area with views of the bay. Please be aware that you can’t swim at Kabira bay, but nearby beaches.
Cons: Everything contributed to having an amazing time and enjoy the incredible landscape
5.0 Okay
Pros: The staff was very nice and helpful The location is very good but you should have a car
Cons: So disappointed about the breakfast. You can’t choose anything, they cook 1 menu everyday, and they don’t ask if you like it or not. They tell you when you have to come everyday ( for us it was 8am .... if you are late, they come to your room to wake you up. ) We didn’t get the last breakfast because we left at 7:15am ... Also, we had little insectes in our room, even after the cleaning. And you have to make your own bed everytime after the cleaning service.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Lovely place! Friendly and welcoming family owners! We really felt very comfortable staying there!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The woman that runs Joya is so helpful and friendly. She made our stay!

Pros: Staffs are very nice and prepared the map showing the cafe and restaurants nearby. So chill at roof top, you can see so many stars at night. Basic bedroom suitable for budget traveler. Good location. 3 mins walk to Shiraho beach. And just 5 mins drive to airport. Quite and lovely neighborhood with a little pig and sheep in front of the house.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: I knew the staff would be great, but they truly exceeded expectations. They were incredibly kind and it was clear they wanted to make our experience on the island a memorable one. Very grateful for all their help during our stay.
7.0 Good
Pros: The staff were brilliant and extremely helpful. They help you plan your time in Ishigaki & make reservations for you. They also pair you with other fellow lone travellers to enjoy trips together. From the roof terrace tou can see the beautiful stars at night and the amazing sunrise over the sea at 6am. Beach 3 min walk, local shop and a few restaurants which I highly recommend. The locals were very friendly and helpful. Bus pass 2000¥ from bus driver for 5 days. Excellent value.
Cons: The bedroom was extra small so difficult to get dressed in there. The wifi was poor in bedroom and outside terraces. Buy a 2000¥ 5 day bus pass to get you into town. The last return bus is at 9pm, so if you want to stay out in the city at night, it will be difficult. However, I loved the rural nature of this property and was glad to be away from the city.
7.5 Good
Pros: Shiraho guest house is a very nice place to stay because it is in a quite district, near to all beaches by car, plus there are two fantastic men (hiro and yoya) who run the guesthouse that will explain to you each day what is the better beach and place to see/discover. Thanks for all. I hope to have the possibility to come back soon.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: One of the best and friendliest guesthouse that I stayed in during my travels in Okinawa! They will really make sure that you know where to go on the island, and help you so you can get there. Super flexible and helpful, a great environment to stay in, especially for first time travelers to Ishigaki!
10.0 Excellent

6.8 Good
Pros: The Staff was very friendly and good when you want to know where to go on the Island. Nice village for a coffee and dinner.
Cons: It was not very clean. Both room and in particular the kitchen. WiFi was only working at the reception. Everything looked old and ready for a renovation.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Hiro-san and all the great staff was amazing! I booked by mistake a male dormitory bed and i got to be in a private room for the night :) The hostel got everything you need, the common area is so nice. You can do a yoga lesson with Yuki! Shiraho village in a very nice place to stay with great restaurnts and nice cafe in beautifull location. Arigato!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff are awesome, place very clean. They are lovely and very helpful. I spent only 3 days but I wish I could had have a week at least.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Nothing bad. Large room, Jp-style bathroom, affordable price for pick-up. We experienced a nice and unforgettable trip thanks to "Hero" さん, the owner.
Cons: A bit difficult to find the location. Probably would be better if there were few signs out there
Sky Cucule Ishigakijima - Ishigaki - Building
6
8.8 Excellent (644 reviews)
Overview Reviews
With a stay at Guesthouse Chura Cucule Ishigakijima – Hostel in Ishigaki, you'll be within a 10-minute walk of Ishigaki Port and Torin-ji Temple. Featured amenities include luggage storage, laundry facilities, and a safe deposit box at the front desk. Self parking (subject to charges) is available onsite.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The location is good, only ten minute walk from the main bus stations yet no so close to the night life area that it is quite enough to relax. There are also options of facilities you can choose to go for while staying there for quite a cheap price like bicycle renting, parking spots and so on. The front desk is very friendly. They also hosts activities and dinner party once in a while. I would recommend this to anyone.
Cons: The area itself is quite ok, though not if you're an early bird. Only convenient store and port would be open before nine or ten. The bus to Kabira Bay comes every two hours, though taking taxi is not really a bad idea as the price is somewhat acceptable (around three thousand yen).
5.8 Okay
Pros: Cleanliness
Cons: Unwelcoming staff. On the day of departure both me and my friend were mistaken about the check-out time which is 10AM (we thought it was 11AM). Our mistake obviously but the way we were treated by the staff was shameful. We were basically expelled from the hostel and the staff member did so in the middle of the public area in front of all other guests present. I apologized for the mistake initially but the staff member just kept repeating the same as if I’m stupid or as if we were trying to “pull something”. Worst service I have ever experienced.
9.7 Excellent
Pros: Even when it is very small, it is very comfortable and practical
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Everything was nice clean and comfortable, it was great!
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Very cool with friendly staff. Had a lovely stay.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: It’s beautifully done, they recycle, it’s clean and has good facilities, at walking distance from the port and bus terminal. Very good restaurants nearby.
Cons: There was a strange smell in the locker.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The guesthouse in general was very good! Very friendly environment, pleasant to stay in. It was clean and the room was comfortable (not small). Community room was nice (good design) and kitchen facilities were very good and clean. They pay special attention to explain how everything works and they are very careful on not making noise in rooms area. They change towels every day (which I found a great touch detail). Location was great (about 15min walk from bus/ferry station, and shopping area). Restaurants very close as well as convenience store. The staff was very friendly, always ready to help and give you advice. I would come back and recommended for sure.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Great and very comfortable place, close to the center, clean and very nice team. Ill be happy to stay again.
Cons: The location its not next to beach but i cant expect more for the price I paid. Everything was great!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Super comfortable hostel! It was probably the best hostel I ever stayed in. The beds were comfortable, bathroom and common spaces were really nice and clean!! The common space is really good for meeting people and I had such a fun stay.
Cons: One small thing, after I checked out and 10, I left the hostel and came back at 11 and waited in the common space of the hostel for maybe 10 minutes until I had to catch my bus. The staff then came up to me and said I have to pay a 700¥ fine for overstaying.. I was quite angry about that as I payed for 6 nights and checked out in time! In the end I didn’t have to pay but still it left me feeling a bit uncomfortable..
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The staff was very nice, especially credits for one girl whose name started with M I think. They would always help me with my problems even though their English wasn't perfect. The bed was comfortable after all hard asian mattresses in other places. Good bathroom facilities with dispenser soaps and towels. Very affordable bicycle rental.
Cons: It was pretty noisy as you seemingly have your private space but basically you are sleeping in a dorm of +20 people. Also the safety worried me as a solo woman traveller because there were no locks on doors and only a curtain between women's and men's dorms (altough nothing happened)
Pension Uminonakama - Ishigaki - Building
7
9.2 Excellent (39 reviews)
Overview Reviews
With a stay at Pension UMINONAKAMA in Ishigaki, you'll be by the ocean, within a 10-minute drive of Ishigaki Port and Awamori Museum. Featured amenities include luggage storage and laundry facilities. Free self parking is available onsite.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Location is unsurpassable with great views from every room and the sound of the sea just yards away.If you want the kind of efficiency where space and homely decor make you feel totally relaxed this is it. There is a superb veg shop and fish and meat market in the city - easy bike ride away: have a go at some Japanese meals or revert! The owner and staff though are so friendly and knowledgeable about the island that you get to find all the places to visit on this laid back tropical island. When at the hotel you feel at home.
Cons: Don't expect luxury touches _ not a disadvantage for us.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The owner are very nice and helpful.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: People were very nice. Don't mistaken, it's not an hotel, it's rooms to rent. Therefore, if you want to have a breakfast, you have to tell them so. You can't come in the morning, willing to have breakfast in the place because it's rainning outside. There's one place not too far for breakfast. The place is a little far from everywhere (15 mn walking from the nearest family mart, 40mn from the city, 40mn from a real beach). When the tide is hight, you can swim down the hotel, if there's no wind (in the morning for example) ; but you can not lay on the beach and rest. Because there's no beach Regarding the room... it was perfect : large room, with everything, people very nice. My wife didn't like too much the bed, but it was OK for me. There's a balcony where you can stand, but it's not large. There's a kitchen (no microwave) where you can cool a little if you want. A fridge, and over tools we didn't use and I don't remember !
Cons: it's a little far from everything
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The view is amazing ! The flat we got was on a corner, so we had two patio doors overlooking the magnificent sea around Ishigaki. The place was big, with a small kitchen for us to prepare meals when we didn't want to go out. There is a parking, so you can park (it's better to rent a car in Ishigaki if you want to roam freely).
Cons: The water of the shower was changing temperature suddenly. When set correctly it suddenly went to cold, then hot. The beds were a bit flat.
6.8 Good
Pros: On the ocean and kitchen
Cons: Bedding and bed
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The owner can provide the variety of water sport (Snorkelling, diving, fishing...). Very friendly and recommended a few excellent restaurants.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The room was spacious including a kitchen and appliances. It was right on the water with a nice view. The owners were accommodating after an initial misunderstanding and brought us pineapple.
Cons: It would’ve been very difficult to communicate without our Japanese friend. The rooms are misleading as they show a pull out couch and some sites state that the rooms fit 3 people, however we had to pay an additional $200 usd when we arrived to have a third person in the room. They were accommodating after this but it was a bit frustrating. Room is a bit out of the way and taxis were a bit pricey but there’s a bus stop nearby.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Tv, A/C, bed, view
Cons: The bathroom wasn't shiny.. but still ok.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The owner is sincere and welcoming. Tried her best to accommodate our needs, both in the guesthouse and activities arrangements. However, typhoon cannot be controlled and not able to enjoy water sports from them.
Cons: Limited speaking English. May have to try Google translate and body language to guess the real meaning at some point
Overview Reviews
There are many leisure facilities to fulfill your vacation, and you can enjoy walking, year-round garden pools, treatment spas, indoor pools and short golf. It is also famous as a resort known as the first starry sky reserve in Japan. You can also visit other islands within about 30 minutes by ferry, which is a convenient base for traveling around the island.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Quiet and clean
Cons: Rental towels for the pool
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Friendly staff, complimentary valet parking, sea view balcony, clean and spacious room, pretty gardens!
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Clean, easy to walk around the resort
Cons: Wifi slow
8.0 Excellent
Pros: We were in the coral wing with the view of the sea. We usually went to the beach in the morning, lunch in the buffet restaurant, dessert in the lounge, And then swimming pool in the afternoon, sometimes a snack in the little shop. The hotel could provide all we needed for a lazy holiday.
Cons: The little stones on the beach are annoying when barefoot. The queue for breakfast could be long, we were not used to the idea of having to queue for breakfast. But then it is probably just for the peak season.
7.0 Good
Pros: Location. Bath products. View from bedroom
6.3 Good
Pros: I enjoyed the breakfast choices however their coffee was just ok. I liked the warm indoor pool. And their suite which however could not be offered to me until my check out and was reimbursed with points. To me it would have made a big difference if we were allowed to keep the suite for the entire duration of our stay especially since we are Ambassador members and we pay extra for these things but this is always the case with Intercontinental: they cannot offer an upgrade or will not offer for the entire duration of stay. Other than that...unless you have a suite, the rooms are boring and old fashioned. Everything is bland and impersonal. It is, as usual, too expensive for the standard but this is how it often is in Japan.
Cons: I didn’t like the beach where you cannot just walk or swim like on a normal beach...everything is fenced around like a pool for animals...it is discouraging already when you look outside the window and see the small “fenced” swimming area. Kids were everywhere...this is less relaxing...the hotel is a family hotel.
7.0 Good
Pros: The hotel was spacious and comfortable. The hotel restaurant food was delicious. There is a free public bath or onsen, segregated by gender, allowing people to unwind in the hot pool
Cons: Although i have seen reviews that the hotel was not value for money, i chose to stay there as it was my first time in ishigaki and I wanted convenience (near the beach, and one of the stops on the public bus line). But I wouldn’t come back to stay if I came to ishigaki another time. Given that it is located at Maezato beach, It would have been better if they allowed free parasols or seats for hotel guest as a hotel perk.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: quiet, peaceful,
Cons: long way to the visit any sightseeing
6.3 Good
Pros: Nice pool
Cons: I found the cockroach in the room
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The facility , the location, close to beach, nice restaurants
Cons: A bit pricey

8.8 Excellent
Pros: Fabulous retreat
Cons: A bit far out of the town but good taxi services Local beach wasn’t great but access to both pools made up for it
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This was a great hotel! The staff was absolutely fantastic and do anything for their guests!
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast is great.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The food was really really good: buffet dinner was a mix of local okinawan and western dishes, with clearly an experienced chef preparing the western food (French influence) with delicious and authentic foie gras, seafood chaussons, crepes etc. and including local alcohol (awamori). The swimming pool is nice and clean. Free draft beer machine in the hotel lobby! Rooms are clean, well furbished and spacious
Cons: No beach front. Closest beach is a few minutes'walk away but just soso. The swimming pool is small. It could be much bigger if the area dedicated to a small pond with funtains was actually a pool
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Comfortable and big appartment Friendly staff
7.5 Good
Pros: The hotel is very new. We enjoyed the room.
Cons: The hotel is not well suited for western guests. The pool did not meet our expectations. everything looks much better hon the photos. the hotel is at the beach, but there is no beach facility. only a few staff do understand english. the breakfast is very Japanese style. Ishigaki is so far away from everything, it makes sense to spend more money to be at a hotel that meets western expectations on this island.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Very huge hotel resort. And very big rooms with comfortable bathroom and luxurious beauty amenities. The resort has 2 pools (you can use both of them) and best breakfast we ever had at Okinawa - you can try so many local food! Pool towel service is also nice.
Cons: Biggest disappointment was the beach - very dirty! Also the hotel area is nothing special - huge tank of water in the middle is full of mosquitos who eat you to death immediately after sunset.
5.0 Okay
Pros: Well, it's a "resort" on an Island. Other than that, it's quite a disappointment. Breakfast was nice and decent.
Cons: Well, first of all, I really don't know how this is 4 star. We came here for our honeymoon, and did expect to leisure about on the beach with a nice cocktail in our hands. or the very least the pool. No bar, not cocktails. No beach close by. I mean, there is a beach, but the sewers of all the hotels in the area is dumped there. It smells terrible. The hotel is not close to Ishigaki city (which is old, run down, and quite neglected). You have to take the shuttle bus that drops you off in a different hotel in the city. There is no way to explore the island without a car, as the shuttle bus times are extremely limited! last bus to hotel is like 19:30. Now, we wanted to eat dinner at the hotels restaurant. You have to make reservations, even if you are a guest at the hotel, and even if it's half empty. Prices are absolutely insane, and definitely is not cost appropriate for Japanese meat. They do take advantage of the fact that the hotel is not in the city. 8000-10000 yen for dinner per person each and every night is absolutely ridiculous. We also went to another resort that is connected, which had a restaurant there. They wanted the same prices for Ishigaki beef dinner, 200g of meat total for a couple! We never encountered prices like this in Japan before, except in top rated restaurants, which was definitely not the case here. Moving on, we were instructed to leave "please clean" sign on the door before 10am every morning. We did so on our second day, and went to the pool until 13:00, assuming they would have finished by then. Imagine our surprise when we came back and the room was not clean. My husband went to the front desk and asked for cleaning services for that evening as we were preparing to go to the town for dinner. He also mentioned that the floor was filthy with stains (that is how we received the room upon check in), and asked to mop the floors. we returned the the room was tidy, but the floors were still dirty.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Rooms were big. We had garden view and the terasse was great for hanging out in the morning. The breakfast is very nice and diverse. The staff is friendly and helpful.
Cons: The beach is a concrete walkway by the water. It’s great for seeing the sunset, but not so much if you want to sunbathe/ take a bath in the Ocean.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Good location, nice sea view from room and helpful staff.
Cons: Would be good if the freshness of the bread at breakfast could be the mproved

Pros: must try the breakfast it’s quite value for money, plus it’s delicious. Staff don’t speak English but she let me check in ahead of time which is quite nice. Location is very good, near the ferry and center. Got the last room of the hostel which with the view of the harbor, lucky!
Cons: None
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The staff was very friendly even though she spoke limited English and I speak very little Japanese. Breakfast was extra but well worth it for what you get and the very little cost. The room was nothing fancy but was clean, comfortable and plenty spacious considering typically Japanese hotel room sizes. The location was very convenient being close to the bus station, the ferry terminal, a harbor, local markets, and lots of restaurants.
Cons: There is no elevator which was not a problem for me but could be an issue for some, especially if you pack heavy and need to get your luggage up the spiral staircase. No electric kettle in the room for making tea/coffee but there was a filtered hot water tap downstairs in the common room.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly, small but really nice. Rolf Beutel

Pros: Narita-san was so sweet and helpful. You can't beat the location or the cleanliness of this place. It was very minimalist but that is not to say all your comforts weren't provided for. Every consideration was met. I would definitely love to stay here again.
Cons: Loved everything!

Pros: - Excellent location within 5-10 minutes walk to shopping, convenient stores and some of the best restaurants at Ishigaki. Also very close to the only dive shop MC21 here. - Super helpful staff who relentlessly assisted me as the organiser of a dive trip for 12 non-Japanese staying at Cucule. - Availability of a special room for washing and drying dive equipment. - Nice gesture of giving small gifts on a daily basis to guests for being environmentally friendly when full cleaning of room is not required - Clean rooms.

7.0 Good
Pros: I like the groove and the super helpful staff of this property, they always try to find a way so that we could enjoy the island to fulliest. It was very nice sitting outside in the evening or whatchin the sunrise from the rooftop.
Cons: We had to take the private room with bath, since no other rooms were available. I think the price is too expensive for what you get and you hear the neighbours as if they were in your room
9.3 Excellent

Good location, close to ferry and bus terminal Good breakfast + free tee and coffee throughout the day Restaurant next to the reception with reasonable prices and delicious foods for lunch and dinner Rooftop terrace for relaxing Free umbrella at the entrance in case of rainy weather The room included also a free mobile phone for calling home or even searching infos on the internet.

8.8 Excellent
Pros: Stayed in the hotel for 4 nights. Breakfast was great with lots of variety. Loved the brown sugar bread. Room size was great. The laundry room was located at the 6/F and we utilized it on the 2nd night after our outdoor activities. Proximity to eateries and shopping area. The staff helped us to make a restaurant booking in advance. Thank you so much!
Cons: Though the hotel is just located 8-10 minutes away the Ferry Terminal, dragging luggages from/to the Ferry Terminal to/from the hotel under the hot sun/rain might be tiring since there is no shelter on the way.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: + 10-15 mins walk to the port terminal, where u can take ferry to islands (suggest u join a group) or bus to the airport. I used taxi and it cost me around 3000¥ to the hotel. + Staff is surely helpful if u cannot speak Japanese. + You can free bike rent for the 1st hour the 500¥ for each hour. + you can take a taxi to near by beach for around 1000¥. I went to Maezato beach. on the date of check out. I took all my belongings to the beach. there is a small locker can put ur valuable stuff. There are glass kayak (3500¥ 30mins), swimming gears, chairs(2000¥ 1 hour) you can rent, and free shower with hot water in the beach.
Cons: + u have to pay to watch TV + pay to get detergen + the airconditioning is not comfortable. and have to re-start every time u entre ur room.

4.5 Okay
Pros: Good location close to the port and right in the centre of town.
Cons: The rooms were very old fashioned, damp and unclean. There was mould growing on the walls in my room - I changed rooms and the next room was just the same. The bathrooms are very small and damp. My biggest concern was the fact that I returned to my room to find that the housekeeping had left the door wedged open. There is no safe in the rooms so this was a serious issue. The rooms look onto a brick wall. Overall I wouldn’t recommend this hotel, it certainly isn’t 3 stars, I would give it 1 or 2 and it is very poor value for money.
7.0 Good
Pros: Location is good, staff are fine and nice.
Cons: only want to say is : No choice for the breakfast.
8.0 Excellent
Cons: There is no free parking lot.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Was their for a Triathlon. They had a large room set aside for our bikes and was perfect. The fresh made Onigiri was just topping on the cake! Awesome!

Pros: Location is good!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Wonderful hotel with great hosts and staff for a modest price. Superb.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location, hip, clean.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location, clean, very comfortable beds, nice bar in the hotel with rooftop access to watch the sunset, great staff.
Cons: The view is of the harbor not the open ocean, so it was more industrial looking than I had expected, but still a nice view with great sunsets.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Great location right next to the port, friendly staff, clean rooms
Cons: Rooms are definitely on the small size but expected in Japan and in such a center location. No parking is available (paid/free) but there is a huge carpark opposite hotel.
7.0 Good
Pros: Nice simple breakfast, cleanliness and friendliness of staff.
Cons: Although I stayed in a non smoking room, smoke still entered my room from neighbouring rooms. I was also placed across the laundry and it was very noisy when the laundry room door was left open.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Nice service Very nice room Nice comfortable
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Very comfy beds and provide many bath towels. The sunset is fantastic.
7.5 Good
Pros: The two bedroom condo was very well appointed and daily service was excellent. Complementary airport shuttle. Contact ahead of time to schedule.
Cons: Staff we dealt with were very friendly and helpful. Manager they had to deal with to get some reservation related confusion cleared up was totally unhelpful and downright unprofessional. All but ruined our stay. But for the staff that more than made up for that, our review would have been "awful, avoid the place". Not really tailored for international tourists. Very limited attractions or restaurants within walking distance.
7.0 Good
Pros: Very large, new and well-appointed apartment with all mod-cons - even a self-filling bath if you can figure out how it works. Staff were polite, cleaning service was excellent. Not too far - driving- from Ishigaki port for dinner etc but also in a quiet location. Lift up to the apartment perfect for families with small children in buggies or visitors with mobility issues.
Cons: Bed was extremely hard and uncomfortable - this is typical for beds in non-Western brand hotels in Japan but I wish they had mattress toppers available for guests who don’t fancy sleeping on a rock- hard slab. Price was also very high considering facilities are minimal - nice apartment but small pool, no restaurant, no spa. ‘Resort’ in the hotel name is somewhat misleading. For similar prices you could stay in the Four Seasons - albeit not in Japan! We did book rather late in high season though, so value may not always be an issue.

Pros: Staff very helpful. Big and spacios rooms. Good breakfast. Also, lunch and dinner are very good and not expensive compared to the restaurants on the island.
Cons: Unfortunately only one staff member speaks English so it is very hard to get anything done. The location is very bad as it is far away from the city or the beach and the only option is to pay 1500/2000 yen for taxi.

8.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff was really nice and attentive. The swimming pool, just renovated, was excellent and so close to the beach it almost feels you're at the sea. The village-like setting of the hotel provides a very nice and cozy atmosphere and our cottage-room was quite generously sized.
Cons: A few facilities are in a poor state, especially the breakfast area. It is dated, messy and chairs are really stained. This is a huge contrast with other brand new facilities. I think a very simple refurbishment (changing chairs and tables and concealing the "working areas" of the buffet as well as painting and adding some decoration) would give a different impression.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: My daughters loved the access to the pool, splash pad and beach. The staff was very attentive. The room was spacious compared to other Japanese hotel rooms. As an American who is accustomed to pillowtop mattresses, we weren't comfortable with the mattresses provided but it doesn't take away from our experience at all. We utilized the travel personnel on site and they were so convenient to set things up and cancel on our behalf. We had a fantastic time and would happily return to Fusaki.
Cons: 1. Mattress quality, but that's always the case with Japanese style bedding. 2. Price of food on site was expensive but that's to be expected at resorts.
4.5 Okay
Pros: The kids waterpark
Cons: Room wasn't very clean - bottles left out in front garden, facility far too busy. Most restaurants full. Breakfast served in what looked like a gym hall.
8.3 Excellent
Cons: Carpark too far away The room is too small given the price is not cheap
10.0 Excellent
Pros: clean and high value rooms. pool was open until 8pm. the childreen could enjoy swiming by night. breakfast as buffet was a good quality with mix of japanees and western content.
Cons: nothing to claim
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Nice Pool area.
Cons: Outdoor pool closes at 1. November!
9.5 Excellent
Cons: Not a dislike but rather a suggestion. Closing the pools/water park/beach due cold season might be a little excessive considering the climate in Ishigaki... For European or North American guests Ishigaki winter temperatures easily surpass summer back home.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Just along the Beach We could se amazing coluored fish. And just taking a very short boat Tour even more. Ok rooms
Cons: Swimming pools Nice but made to kids friendly all of Them. Would be Nice with one pool for swimming. Staff are not english talking in reception.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The beach
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Superb location on the western shore of the island, perfect for sunsets, with an ideal shingle beach and beautiful turquoise waters. The pool area is beautifully laid out and is spacious, ideal for both couples and families.
Cons: The resort restaurants and bars are in places slightly pricey for what they are. Also, the staff are required to enforce some seemingly unnecessary rules - canoeing restricted to a very limited area of the beach for no obvious reason (and irrespective of ability) no t-shirts in the pool (not good for westerners looking to protect against the sun!). Relaxing these rules would make the experience more enjoyable. Also, the staff generally speak limited English - which makes it hard for a non-Japanese speaker to understand these rules (or indeed the offerings of the resort generally) - even more written English information would help.

7.5 Good
Pros: near the beach
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The hotel was wonderful - starting from the check-in. Was greeted at the front entrance and someone took my luggage. I was asked to sit down until it was my turn to be checked in. Upon check-in, the reception explained all the hotel amenities, restaurants and shuttle service. After check-in, she took me and my luggage to my room. The size of the room (i was in a superior twin ocean view room) was big even by North American standards. One of the reviews i had read said this room was very small, even by Tokyo standards. In this room, there was enough space to keep my luggage open and available to me at all times. There was also a nice seating area by the balcony to enjoy the view, which was nice. Buffet breakfast was very popular and busy. I went at 6am one morning, and it was already quite full. Western and Japanese breakfast available. Good variety and the dishes change daily. There's nothing around the hotel, so if you want to venture off the hotel property, you'll need to take the shuttle into town, which runs every hour or so. I attempted to go for a walk around peak sun (1pm) on the boardwalk, and there was no one around (b/c it was just so hot!!).
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The staff was extremely friendly and helped us with a lot of things!
Cons: None.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was greats especially the breakfast!!
Cons: I loved everything!
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Very relaxing seaside resort, good facilities, the public bath is relaxing. Breakfast is good too!
Cons: The swimming pool is a bit small
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Friendly staff and the location
Cons: Nothing really!
6.8 Good
Pros: Right on the beach, pool and spa facilities. Meat restaurant is excellent; great food and ambience.
Cons: Service was nothing special; entirely oriented around Japanese guests. No wifi in public areas. Breakfast finished very early, about 9.00am, which is early for a resort and when you are on holiday. Main restaurant is nothing special. Very expensive and so poor value for money.
7.0 Good
Pros: Sea view was fantastic and the staff were very helpful
Cons: Breakfast was poor, rooms were very dated and we had to move rooms due to noise from communal areas
7.0 Good
Pros: seaview and very furit breakfast
Cons: it is a bit far away downtown and no convenience store nearby the hotel.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast is really amazing! As a non-japanese, there were lots of selection and i was able to try local food. They change their breakfast menu every now and then which is good. They have 4 restaurants to choose from. The room is very nice especially the bathroom. There is japanese concert every night, so its a real Japanese experience. There is also complimentary shuttle from and back to airport.
Cons: The bed and pillows are so hard.

Pros: The new building is really nice (but too expensive for what it is) Nice swimming pool
Cons: The breakfast is awful. restaurant is not good. Prices are too high.

Pros: Pool. Breakfast. Staff. Cleanliness. Location. View. Small, charming boutique style hotel, as compared to massive, huge, boring and expensive, 5-star hotels.
Cons: Restaurant food way over priced.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything
Cons: Nothing
5.5 Okay
Pros: The prices here were very high for the room and hotel amenities that were available - that said, the pool and outdoor space was lovely, especially for sunset views.
Cons: This property was very expensive for the basic nature of the room and amenities.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Nice staff, good Onsen, good view from our room, beautiful pool
Cons: Asked for 90 US$ to keep room for 2 hours longer, worst coffee in Japan, no bar, terrace run down (splinters everywhere), noisy AC and smell from restaurant in our room.
6.8 Good
Pros: Location was good
Cons: Their response to our booking error was very tardy as a result we had to pay 3 times more money at the last minute. They were very stingy and inflexible with a little late checkout, water in the room. When we came to our room the evening GE gore our departure the cleaning of the room was cursory giving us an indication that we are on our way out.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Rooms are spacious. Breakfast is good, very tasty and good variety.
Cons: There are not too many restaurants nearby, so if the hotel restaurants can offer hot food/snack menu in the hours between lunch & dinner would be great. Swimming pool is a bit shallow and hope can improve on it.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: This hotel is well located on the coast, about a 1000yen taxi ride from the ferry terminal. But there is a concrete wall separating the hotel from the sea, so , although there is access via steps, the beach is virtually non-existent. Staff are very gracious and helpful.
Cons: Room was small, but comfortable. The pool is very shallow. Sea adjoining is quite dirty, perhaps due to a nearby sewerage plant
7.0 Good
Pros: Around 30-min from airport and 5-min to city centre, which was very good location. Hotel is clean and big onsen-style bath was nice to relax after enjoying Ishigaki nature.....
Cons: Staffs were friendly but seemingly not received enough training as their instruction was not accurate. We had to pay extra for optional tour, which was disappointing as hotel facities were nice.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was great and the staff were extremely accommodating. They went above and beyond what one would expect.
