Hotel Villas Flamingos

Cancun International Airport (CUN) is the nearest airport to the hotel, located roughly 2 hours away by car from Chiquila Port. The port is roughly a 30 min ferry ride from the island where the hotel is located. A fast option is to jump on an air taxi at the airport, which will take you directly to the hotel, though this can be very pricey. A cheaper option is to hop into a private taxi at the airport and head to Chiquila Port, where you'll wait for a ferry across to the island. This full trip, including waiting time, will usually be around 3 hours, so keep this in mind when booking flights.

Hotel Villas Flamingos offers various rooms for families and rooms that are strictly for adults. The three family-suited choices are the Bungalow Arena, Bungalow Jardin and Grand Villa. Both bungalows have a maximum capacity of four people, while the Grand Villa has a capacity for up to eight guests. The Bungalow Jardin is surrounded by a tropical forest garden, while the Bungalow Arena is a few steps from the beach. The Grand Villa comes with the added benefit of using all of the hotel facilities, breakfast in the main dining room, room service and transfers to and from Holbox city centre.

Unfortunately, Holbox Island is a car-free zone. You'll be able to take your vehicle to the port of Chiquila, but you won't be able to take the car on the ferry across to the hotel. Numerous places in Chiquila offer secure parking for the time you spend on the island. It'll typically cost close to MEX$100 (around GBP4) a day, and because most people go to Chiquila to catch the ferry, parking in a secure car park overnight is a regular occurrence.

El Mangle Restaurant and Bar is the hotel's signature restaurant and offers the perfect beachside setting for families or couples to enjoy a delicious meal and drink by the ocean. Chef Juan Uuh is head of the creations that mix typical island food with avant-garde style for a memorable gastronomic experience. Breakfast is from 07:30 until 11:00, lunch is from 12:00 until 18:00 and dinner is from 19:00 until 22:30. El Mangle Beach Bar is closer to the beach, and you can spend your time sipping on cocktails here and even have your food brought to you on the beach if you'd rather not move.

One of the most exciting things you can experience at the hotel is the Scavenger Hunt. This treasure hunt offers clues across the hotel and island that eventually lead you to a hidden treasure. The hotel also offers paddle boards and bicycles. You can spend your time floating atop the island water as you explore the ocean on a paddle board, or you can hop on a bicycle and take a private tour of the hotel grounds and the rest of the island.
