Firm 4 star hotel, not 5
Very clean..lovely view from the room and the hotel. Waterpark very clean and nice..Hotel interiors very cute
Its self service in most restaurants and bars during the day..There is no nice places around that area to go out at night of you want to leave the hotel but the hotel itself is perfect for families with babies..some of the rooms are old..wine quality is bad and not much to do for adults..Beach too crowded and lots of seaweed
There’s lots to love about this place. Unlike other ‘Brits on tour’ places we’ve stayed at, Creta Maris is truly cosmopolitan with guests from all around Europe (and beyond). The facilities are excellent (for example, an open air movie theatre, and the gym was very well equipped). Staff are friendly and attentive, and a special mention goes to the chef and catering staff - the food was excellent, of really high quality and plentiful choice. We also liked that the hotel is close by to the resort of Hersonissos so if you fancied a stroll, or need to grab something from a pharmacy or supermarket, or (in the case of our older kids) wanted to visit rowdier bars on the ‘strip’ then it’s all there. Because our two are grown up we didn’t need the kids’ facilities - although my observation is that this seems a good place to bring kids of all ages. We noted with some disappointment that the (really nice) disco was totally empty with a DJ playing tunes to himself (bit sad) so this isn’t the place to come for an all night rave!! The resort is massive and organised across different “campuses” including the main hotel buildings, Greek village-style bungalows and apartments, and another campus across a walkway with another main building and many rooms and apartments spread around. Each area has its own pool.
I hadn’t realised how massive the hotel/resort is - and as we stayed during one of the busiest weeks of the season, this meant the usual competition for pool-side sunbeds etc (we didn’t manage to secure one all week and despite the resort’s best efforts to tell guests not to ‘reserve’ sunbeds, that’s exactly what people do and the resort doesn’t do anything about it). No great hardship as there was plenty of space on the beach. As mentioned, this is very much a family resort and the bars all close at midnight, so there is no option for a late night tipple outside buying your own drinks and consuming them on your balcony (just two small cans of lager are provided per room per week). This wouldn’t matter to a family with young kids, but if like us you have grown up kids or older teens, they might consider that a bit of a disappointment from an all-inclusive package. Another small bugbear was that it was not made clear that you can only book each of the restaurants ONCE per week (excluding the main restaurant), plus the online booking system was very flaky. We didn’t manage to book ‘Pithos’ at all due to sunbed-style uber-organised guests getting online before 9am for the following evening’s restaurant bookings!). But these are minor quibbles and didn’t detract from a wonderful holiday.
We liked everything in the crete maris hotel. The stuff are great, so nice and warm people. Always ready to help. The food is great. big variety of food. A lot of option for vegans and vegetarians and also gluten free. 5 -6 restaurant at place. Lots of activities for kids of all ages. Every evening after the dinner there is a show. They are really good and our kids enjoyed them very much. The main attraction was the water park. It was great! One of the best hotel i visit for the past few year and i am traveling about 6 - 7 times a year and staying usually at 4 - 5 stars hotels. Thanks a lot for having us see you next year!!!!!
The only thing i didn't like is the payed game room. I think 1 euro per game is too much. Except that all the rest is just amazing.
That the water park wasn’t open until later.
Creta Maris Beach Resort has more to offer than other resorts of its kind. It’s located on the coast of Crete Island, close to Hersonissos, Greece. The resort has 680 rooms in many different types. There are deluxe rooms, family rooms that cater to the needs of those with children, suites that have either one or two bedrooms, and even waterfront villas. Creta Maris Pool Villa gives guests a lot of privacy including their own pool, a bathroom with a sauna, a dining room, kitchenette, a private garden, and a balcony that has a view of the sea. Creta Maris Beach Resort has six restaurants throughout the property. Cosmos serves Cretan food for all meals of the day. Estia has buffets for breakfast and lunch with mostly Cretan food and then serves Italian cuisine for six nights of the week at dinner. For BBQ food there is Cochlias. Pathos serves Cretan food a la carte. Almyra serves all day long. Platia is open for dinner six nights a week and serves traditional Greek food with a creative twist.
