Reception staff were very welcoming and friendly especially the male on arrival ! Reception looked modern and renovated and the 24 hour check on and reception desk were great !
The lighting in the room was quite dull - made it hard to get ready prior to going out. A few pieces of rubbish in the room, for example behind the headrest / behind beside table there was a crisp packet. Blackout blinds would be a great addition !
The front of the building wasn't easy to access. When I went in to check in I was told to wait until the receptionist took a phone call. Even though I had been waiting for some time while she dealt with another customer. Surely a waiting customer should get priority over a phone call? I was given the wrong key disturbed another guest trying to get into their room. The room was very small. The bathroom was tiny. There was blood on the curtains and lots of places that hadn't been cleaned properly, if at all? Breakfast was poor. Overcooked and dry. I know it was cheap. But I still wouldn't describe it as value for money.
The only positives were that the bedding was clean and the desk staff helpful.
The room was bare of decoration, except for the stains on the wallpaper. There was a large plastic bottle sticking out under the bed, left by a previous occupant as the room had bot been properly cleaned. The bedding, although clean, was inadequate as the heating had been turned off. I took the quilt from the bunk bed. There were arguments in the corridor outside late at night. The breakfast was overcooked. Nearly all the other guests were accommodated by social security and some, according to their tales, were in a period of crisis. It was obviously serving a need but this was not the 'family-run hotel' advertised. I was up for a funeral and my Glaswegian relatives did not think I was safe at this hotel and asked me to leave after one night. I realised that I could not claim the money back, but the hotel changed my dates on booking.com, evidently to deprive the website of its commission. I do not think booking.com should host this hotel.
Location good. Staff friendly and helpful
Room was grubby. Despite having phoned ahead to check, there was no hairdryer in room, although I borrowed one in the morning. Wall lights in room didn't work. Plug on TV broken. Breakfast quite dissapointing, clearly food had been kept warm for some time and was tough and chewy.
The reception staff when we arrived
The price 210 defo not worth it. Check in was at 1 that’s why we booked it only got in at 2. Breakfast was horrible
