10.0 Excellent
Pros: Fantastic ambient and very cheerful people.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything! Jesus was charming, helpful and spoke perfect English. The hotel is quiet in lovely grounds and with comfortable and well appointed rooms in a beautiful old house full of family history. The breakfast was delicious and the recommended restaurant only 5 minutes walk from the hotel was authentic and served wonderful food and home made cider. One could not ask for more.
Cons: Nothing everything was good.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Quinto Duro is a wonderful hotel set in beautiful grounds. Owner/manager very helpful and courteous. Big comfortable rooms with a bit of character. Fantastic breakfast. Excellent!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was fabulous! The hotel is next to the botanical gardens and only a few km from Gijón. Has an amazing garden to relax and interior design is gorgeous! Rooms were very clean, comfortable and decoration was a reflection of late 19th century. Although they only serve breakfast, the service and host were fantastic. It was a pity that we stayed only one night.
Cons: nothing
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Comfortable room in a great building with wonderful atmosphere. Excellent breakfast. Super friendly and professional staff.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Nowhere could be more beautiful, soulful or enchanted
Cons: Driving away
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly host, whose family has owned the property for about 150 years. Pleasant and fancy lodgings, with antique furniture and furnishings. Lovely windows. Great grounds with huge old trees and an authentic Austurian granary. Good breakfast and a pleasant walk to a local cider restaurant recommended by the host. Nearby botanical garden was a great pleasure to visit.
Cons: We were a little surprised that the host had no recommendations for dining in the nearby city of Oviedo (a major tourist draw).

8.3 Excellent
Pros: Nice and quiet, very friendly owners, plenty of parking, rural location.
Cons: Sometimes difficult to ger wifi signal in room
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Charming location and host ! We really enjoyed our stay here - very comfortable and a beautiful location away from the town but a restaurant about 5 mins walk away. We are only sorry we had one night here.
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We arrived late at the property and were greeted by the very friendly and helpful owner. The property was beautiful, with sweeping views on Gijon and the ocean in the distance. The farmhouse style building was warm and spotlessly clean. An easy drive into the city.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely, out of the way property with a rural aspect, yet easy (10 mins) drive into the centre of the city/beach (Gijon’s beach is spectacular!). Free parking at the hotel is also a plus if travelling with a car. The owners are very friendly and obliging, and even though their English is minimal, they are good communicators. Breakfast was first class. If you want a break from the usual holiday accommodation, I would recommend this property whole heartedly.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Very warm welcome, our Spanish is limited but we were able to converse easily with Adolfo in French!
Cons: Breakfast was a little disappointing - apparently there were two prices (we paid 11euros for 2) but had expected a better choice for which the charge is 11 euros per person but we were not informed of this on arrival.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Bed very comfortable and junior suite was very nice. Breakfast was the best of all places we've stayed in this trip to Spain and the owners were very accommodating at breakfast.
Cons: 1. On arrival, housekeeper could not direct us to the nearest Catholic church as it w a s a Saturday, spoke little English. 2. Instant coffee in room, would have liked greater access to coffee thru out the day, esp. since meals had to be taken elsewhere. 3. Location rated as fair because it took 30 min. to get into town, a mere 5 miles away. 1 restaurant a mile away for dinner w a s the only close source for meals except for breakfast. 4. Written materials were only in English, which was problematic because there was no one on hand to answer our questions on arrival.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Loved the fact that the property was slightly rural, the views were lovely over the fields. Really good restaurant nearby that you can walk to, although there was only us and another couple there but had a great night all the same. Really friendly owners who couldnt do enough to help - so nice. Really clean room too.
Cons: As someone has previously said, a couple of tables and chairs in the sun would be lovely.

8.8 Excellent

8.8 Excellent
Pros: Great location near bus station and 10 minutes from the super Mercado. Plaza in front of hotel for people gazing. Staff helped me by bringing ice for my knee injury. Very nicely, home decorated bedroom and nice clean bathroom.
Cons: The bed was so firm it was like concrete and made it very difficult to get any sleep as every muscle in my body ached. I got there most quite room though it had a roaring boombox sound radiating almost constantly. While I appreciated the front desk checking on my comfort, calling at 22:15 (10:15) after a long day was not good especially with a Do Not Disturb sign on the door.

Cons: Can't think of anything.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: staff was great. You should understand that this is a very small boutique hotel with only eight rooms. Everything was clean, the staff attentive, and it was a pleasant stay. Services were minimal, but that's what I paid for.
Cons: For the cost of the room at 48 Euros, and being clean and in the middle of the city, nothing I did't like.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The staff was incredible pleasant and helpful. We want to go back to Gijón. We recommend this hotel to everybody. The room was super clean and very confortable bed.

10.0 Excellent

9.0 Excellent
Pros: Location
Cons: Needs upgrade
4.5 Okay
Pros: Parking ok
Cons: Neighborhood... ugly
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Large well appointed hotel near center of city was an easy walk to old and new parts of city. While the hotel offers parking at 9 euros per night, we were visiting over a weekend so with the bus/train station right across the street, we were able to park for free during our stay. Beds were comfortable, large bathroom with great shower and lots of outlets. We did not opt for the buffet breakfast but the lobby coffee shop/bar offered reasonably priced morning eats.
Cons: Hotel is 10-15 minute walk to most restaurants/shops . A couple eateries close but most are a bit of a walk.

6.8 Good
Pros: The hotel is in a perfect location. Super close to the beach, bars and cafes are close and also the city center is very close. Perfect to discover Gijón. The staff is super nice and very helpful!
Cons: Based on the reviews we expected more. We did not like the room very much. Especially the bathroom was not in a good condition - it is pretty worn out. The tap was loose and the shower curtin to shorts. After showing the whole floor was wet. You can see on the joints that this happens regularity. It does not reflect the status of the photos anymore. The room also smelled a bit from humidity. Baby bed costs extra whereas on our trip in all other hotels it was for free.
10.0 Excellent

Cons: no parking.

NH Gijón - Gijón - Building
8
8.5 Excellent (2,318 reviews)
Overview Reviews
The NH Gijón hotel is located close to the stunning San Lorenzo beach and only 15-minutes away from the historic center on foot. The glass-fronted modern building offers amazing sea views and guests can easily reach the Gijón Convention, Fair Center, as well as the Molinón stadium which are all within a 10-minute walk of the hotel. There are 64 rooms at NH Gijón and many offer lovely views over the Biscay Bay. Each room has a modern and elegant design and is equipped with free Wi-Fi. For lunch, we recommend our Gastro bar which serves tapas and light meals with your favorite drinks. The restaurant, Amares, serves contemporary Spanish cuisine. Guests can enjoy their meals in the light-filled dining room or at the casual and sophisticated Gastro bar. For relaxed conversation or a quick meeting, you can also head to the hotel’s lobby bar. On warm sunny days, enjoy a dip in the pool located on the rooftop terrace. Guests can unwind in the wellness area with its sauna and Turkish bath. The hotel also has four meeting rooms for up to 400 people to accommodate small and large functions.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: well appointed rooms, good shower and good location with on site parking (for a charge). Good breakfast and well worth the additional charge
Cons: We were travelling with our dog, and always put in the pets filter when searching. However at this property you are supposed to pre authorise as only so many pet rooms available. This led to a change of rooms and a bit of inconvenience. I did not feel this requirement was made clear in the booking process and could have left us without a room. Hope that booking.com can look into it and flag more clearly when it is necessary to pre-authorise pet stays.
7.0 Good
Pros: Swimming pool on the rooftop is really nice. Staff is very friendly. Location is good, albeit a good half an hour walk to the old centre of Gijon (which we liked though).
Cons: The price-quality was not in balance. We upgraded to a junior suite, which had more space but a smaller bed and a shower in the room. Awkward bathroom. On the whole the bulding was old, with old carpet in the hallways, and also the rooms were outdated. Furthermore you pay some 20 euro's per night for the car parking, which is too much, and almost 40 euro for breakfast (for 2 persons). The breakfast room is not nice and breakfast is oke, but not super.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Location, clean, quiet
Cons: Food variety to low. Electronic lock for the room was not working correctly. I had to pass the card several times to enter the room.
6.3 Good
Pros: Fairly newly refurbished and clean. Car park facilities available
Cons: It’s pretty expensive for the type of property as well as the location
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Beds. Shower.
Cons: No welcome drink. Items laid out but part of expensive mini bar. Expensive car park when parking there was only option.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: +Excellent reception staff members who were always helpful and happy to assist with restaurant bookings and taxis required etc. +Rooms cleaned to a very high standard. +Breakfast excellent and staff wonderful at breakfast service. +Pool and area surrounding pool very clean and comfortable.
Cons: On the roof a bar has been created, however, it does not open until 8pm, therefore, there is no availability to be served any drinks hot/cold or snacks during the day. This was reported to the Hotel Manager and reception staff and the solution that they came up with 8 days into our stay was a notice at the pool next to a phone which displayed a very limited selection of snacks only available between 1.30-3.30 on the sun deck with a service charge the same as room service +€3 for any order under €9 We were surprised that the roof terrace was also closed on Wednesday night and we were unable to go for a drink. When we went to use the cocktail bar/ restaurant in the evening we were told that we could not have a cocktail until after 8pm?! On our first day we ventured to the basement following the lift signage to the restaurant- cafeteria where we were told rather sharply that ‘this is a restaurant” and we could order snacks on the roof terrace but it did not open until 8pm so having travelled from the UK we were unable to get anything to eat/drink within the hotel with **** until 8pm at night?! Please note room service does not start until 8pm - is this 4 star service ****?! Leaking shower at base reported and we were given an extra floor mat?! ( Room 213) Nothing done for 10 days. The gym is basic however we were happy to make use of it despite the dampness and smell of damp clearly caused by a leak where mould has grown and spread. Gym equipment is rusty. This needs attended to. Most concerning is that there is a lock on the fire door out of the gymnasium-this is against the law. To give some understanding as to why the services of a 4 star hotel were sought out and important for us: My mother and father are 72 years old and my mother is disabled following a spinal injury. My father is undergoing chemotherapy for advanced stage 4 Prostate Cancer. As a result he is currently unable to fly.
5.5 Okay
Cons: Offered pool gym and spa of which all closed and what made it worse no bar ! So if looking for a bed only this hotel might work
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location was great, the rooms clean and spacious .. staff was extra friendly and helpful with everything related and non related to the hotel
Cons: N/A
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Nice modern hotel. Great ammenities, friendly staff

10.0 Excellent
Pros: It did everything I expected traveled there on my mother’s for my 50th stayed 2 nights. Perfect
7.5 Good
Cons: Better book a room at the pool side. The sea side is really noisy (lot of noise of cars and motorbikes) and the view is not that great.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast was good & lounge areas comfortable.
Cons: The wardrobes need sliding doors & some drawers in the bedside tables.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I was expecting a good hotel, but things were much better than expected. Fantastic hotel, great breakfast.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Located at one end of the sea front with bars and restaurants nearby. Underground parking. Swimming pool and pleasant outside space for relaxing after a long journey. Lovely breakfast.
Cons: All good
9.3 Excellent
Pros: A beautiful hotel with beautiful views over the sea. The roof top Terrance is definitely in heaven. The waiters there were attentive. Will definitely stay again for longer. And make use of the facilities

Pros: Perfect location, very clean and cozy.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Paola was there to check us in quickly and gave us all the information we needed to see Gijon with a short amount of time we had to be there. She was so kind and spoke English. There was an air show going on, so we paid for underground parking but normally there is a lot of parking free in the big lot across from the hotel. The beds were comfortable and the room was very clean. They used the space wisely since it is a small room. We enjoyed it very much.
Cons: No ac but we should have read the information better. Nice breeze and balcony
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was in the cafe on the ground floor - plenty of choice. Close to the beach. A little walk to town, but not far.
Cons: The cafe opened late into the night, and was a little lively for my liking! :-)
6.3 Good
Pros: Very noisy and car parking very difficult
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Clean room with very friendly staff. There is a cafe connected with the hotel which accept dogs, very convenient when travelling with a dog. Very good WiFi and the room had a descent sized balcony (think all rooms have it).
Cons: The room was very very small. Luckily I could park in the garage and leave a lot of stuff in the car, it would have been difficult fitting everything in that room otherwise. Location is not exactly central but it is a nice 10-15 minute walk by the beach to reach the central parts.
6.3 Good
Pros: Very clean
Cons: Parking was specified as included but was €10 more
8.8 Excellent
Pros: location and near (other side of road) is located big parking for free...

9.3 Excellent
Pros: It’s in the heart of Gijón’s downtown.
Cons: It was a bit noisy at night on the weekend
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Perfect location to visit hundreds of bars & restaurants around the hotel. Short ways to the harbour, 2 beaches, very long promenade for a walk. Maximum shoppimg possible due to endless streets with various shops. Many sightseeing points and events near the hotel. The hotel cafeteria is also for public visitors so you can have food & drinks all the day. The breakfast is like a buffet. You can choose what you want to eat. The room & bathroom are spacy enough to stay longer than one night. Beds were comfortable.
Cons: Not possible to open the window and sleep, in case you'll get a room to the front side. Many bars are open until early next morning and Spain people like to chat a lot. At 7.30am the street cleaning car starts with high pressure water cleaning. Alternative you have a climatic system in your room.

Pros: Good location and secure parking at a reasonable price
Cons: The mattress on the bed was very hard so not a comfortable night at all and no extra pillow
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Fabulous hotel in a fantastic location. Lovely modern decor and the sound proofing in the room was amazing. You are right in the heart of town it was good having a Juliet balcony that you could open but the minute you close the doors you couldn't hear a thing. Staff were so friendly from cleaning to bar and particularly the reception staff. The secure parking was great, you drive into a lift and it takes you underground, we drive a Mercedes saloon and it had plenty room. Great value parking charges. The breakfast was very good and there was enough to choose from. We really enjoyed our stay and would happily recommend it.
Cons: That I had to leave.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The location. Friendly personnel. Very quiet room.
Cons: Room a little small.
Hotel Alcomar - Gijón - Building

8.4 Excellent (2,060 reviews)

With a stay at Hotel Alcomar in Gijon (Gijon City Centre), you'll be within a 5-minute walk of Campo Valdes Roman Baths and Plaza Mayor. Featured amenities include dry cleaning/laundry services, a 24-hour front desk, and luggage storage.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The location is excellent. Right across from the beach and walkway.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Friendly staff Location just beside the beach. There is a garage where you can leave your car and there is discount for the hotels guests, although a bit pricey.
Cons: It is not a modern hotel, but not very old, it keeps the charming that hotels used to have in the past. For us was not a problem at all.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent small friendly traditional hotel. Lovely breakfast in hotel cafe and good room service. The only seafront hotel on the beautiful main beach that is close to the old town harbour and restaurants.
Cons: No kettle on the room although excellent tea available all day in the cafe
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Thought it was excellent value for money! It is nicely located in front of the beach and near enough to the old town and close enough to bus and train stations. We had a light breakfast in the adjoining café and it was good value. Reception arranged a taxi to the bus station and this arrived within two or three minutes. Very impressed! Taxi fare to bus station was also very reasonable. We had stayed in the Hotel Alcomar on our last visit to Gijon some 4 years ago and we intend to stay there again when we resume the Camino Norte from Gijon sometime next year! Would strongly recommend this hotel as it ticks most of the boxes!
Cons: We were initially allocated a room on the 5th floor, which was essentially a loft room with low ceilings etc. ,but, when we raised this with reception, we were immediately changed (without hesitation) to the first floor and to a room which was a reasonable size and which was quiet. So avoid the 5th floor!
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Alcomar is a hotel that well preserves the character, style and charm of years gone by. Location is excellent, nearby the beach and main attractions. I would recommended it to anyone that would like to enjoy a nice and comfortable stay at Gijon. Breakfast is reasonable good but not continental self-service.
Cons: Breakfast service and offer can be improved. A welcoming friendly smile could also help.
7.5 Good
Pros: The location and the room. Good WiFi. Clean room.
Cons: The hotel is not very old but the architecture is gloomy and not very appalling. Breakfast is not a Buffett and a bit limited. Not a great value for money.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location. Right at the heart of the bay. Very Comfortable bed. Spacious. Restaurants and coffee houses all within walking distance. Very safe. Absolutely beautiful.
Cons: Nothing.
5.0 Okay
Pros: Proximity to beach and night life was good. Shopping also near by.
Cons: One of the problems of being across from the beach is the noise level, even at night. No Air Conditioning available and quite warm in the room. Beds were very uncomfortable.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location is great. Silent and clean rooms. Our room was large and comfortable but a bit dark as giving a view on the back streets. The furniture is resembling the Victorian style and looks outdated but everything is well kept. Just a few steps from the huge and beautiful beach. Guests are served at the table for breakfast.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent location! Hotel is a bit “tired” but adequate.
Cons: It’s an old hotel but adequate facilities and the location is excellent.

8.0 Excellent
Pros: The location of the hotel was excellent. The rooms were comfortable and clean, with a great sea view. The breakfast was a major disappointment, not up to standard at all.
Cons: Breakfast was below average, not very pleasant staff in the dining room.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Fantastic location, in the Plaza Mayor, with everything on the doorstep. Spoiled for choice of bars, restaurants, shops, walks, and anything we wanted really. Staff were super friendly and chatty, and they helped us when we told them we were there to practice our conversation ( we are a small group of Brits, learning Spanish).
Cons: Our bed was a bit hard, though the others said theirs were fine. Breakfast was poor, but we found a nice place a few metres away, so no problem.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Location was great lovely large room.
Cons: We must say that staff could do with some training in looking after guests. They were unfriendly, no greeting other than a cursory Hola, and made no attempt to communicate with us in any way than the bare basics at Check-in etc. We had prearranged parking and when directing us to that (450m away) in a public car park, the receptionist simply pointed to a map taped the the counter. We speak little Spanish and when we tried they had difficulty understanding our accent anyway. The breakfast lady was quite “tired” virtually ignoring us.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Excellent location next to beach and restaurants.
Cons: Nothing not to like.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The location
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent

9.5 Excellent
Pros: Superb location. Very nice staff. Excellent tips. Cosy and great views room
Cons: Wish stayed longer.
5.0 Okay
Cons: The WI did not work for my phon as well as for the phone of my partner and my iPad. The most distracting thing was when I explained that we were able to connect at the restaurant down the street and in every place we stayed in Spain, the Manager said it worked for her phone and so it was my phones that were the problem. She would not even consider the fact we were able to connect at the other places. It seems to me that it is something to do with the sign in protocol they have on their WIFI. The main problem here was that you get a management that doesn’t care about the customer, and would not even consider that their system had a flaw that they need to fix. I don’t think they care about their customers.
5.0 Okay
Pros: Bathroom was clean
Cons: The room was dirty with stuff left from previous guest. It looked as if the bedlinen was not clean
