Pros: Beautiful property situated in a large garden, very quiet, feels like you're in the countryside, located just outside Gijon, some great restaurants nearby, short drive into Gijon
Cons: Our room was on the small side
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I haven't liked a hotel like this for a long time. It's a gorgeous place. Although it's not in the center, the hotel is very old, the environment is quite good, and there are two lovely alpacas. Jesus was very friendly and helped us a lot. It's great that we'll stay a few more nights next time.
Cons: It would be better if lunch and dinner were served, but there was some places for dinner nearby.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful hotel surrounded by lovely well-maintained grounds. Interesting variety of lovely old trees in the garden and there are a couple of adorable alpacas! Room was large, well-furnished and very quiet. Large bathroom with all the modern comforts. Was a great place to relax and enjoy.
7.5 Good
Pros: Interesting place and fantastic to stay. It feels like being at home in a castle. Impressive garden surrounding the hotel.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Great place to relax. Spacious rooms, friendly staff.
Cons: Bed was too hard for me.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Fantastic ambient and very cheerful people.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This hotel was perfect in every way. We were met at the entrance by Jesus, lovely man. The grounds were well kept and so peaceful and the rooms clean comfortable and spacious. The breakfast was excellent lots of choice. Had a nice meal down the road in Casa Sesenda.
Cons: absolutely nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything! Jesus was charming, helpful and spoke perfect English. The hotel is quiet in lovely grounds and with comfortable and well appointed rooms in a beautiful old house full of family history. The breakfast was delicious and the recommended restaurant only 5 minutes walk from the hotel was authentic and served wonderful food and home made cider. One could not ask for more.
Cons: Nothing everything was good.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was fabulous! The hotel is next to the botanical gardens and only a few km from Gijón. Has an amazing garden to relax and interior design is gorgeous! Rooms were very clean, comfortable and decoration was a reflection of late 19th century. Although they only serve breakfast, the service and host were fantastic. It was a pity that we stayed only one night.
Cons: nothing
Casona De Cefontes - Gijón - Building
2
9.2 Excellent (164 reviews)
Overview Reviews
Located in Gijon (Distrito Rural Este), Casona de Cefontes is within a 5-minute drive of Laboral City of Culture and Atlantic Botanical Garden. Featured amenities include express check-in, complimentary newspapers in the lobby, and luggage storage. Free self parking is available onsite.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely, out of the way property with a rural aspect, yet easy (10 mins) drive into the centre of the city/beach (Gijon’s beach is spectacular!). Free parking at the hotel is also a plus if travelling with a car. The owners are very friendly and obliging, and even though their English is minimal, they are good communicators. Breakfast was first class. If you want a break from the usual holiday accommodation, I would recommend this property whole heartedly.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Clean, comfortable and quiet.
Cons: A seat in the nice garden would have been a bonus!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Rural elegance, close to city WI
Cons: WIFI is inadequate.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Nice and quiet, very friendly owners, plenty of parking, rural location.
Cons: Sometimes difficult to ger wifi signal in room
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Very warm welcome, our Spanish is limited but we were able to converse easily with Adolfo in French!
Cons: Breakfast was a little disappointing - apparently there were two prices (we paid 11euros for 2) but had expected a better choice for which the charge is 11 euros per person but we were not informed of this on arrival.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Bed very comfortable and junior suite was very nice. Breakfast was the best of all places we've stayed in this trip to Spain and the owners were very accommodating at breakfast.
Cons: 1. On arrival, housekeeper could not direct us to the nearest Catholic church as it w a s a Saturday, spoke little English. 2. Instant coffee in room, would have liked greater access to coffee thru out the day, esp. since meals had to be taken elsewhere. 3. Location rated as fair because it took 30 min. to get into town, a mere 5 miles away. 1 restaurant a mile away for dinner w a s the only close source for meals except for breakfast. 4. Written materials were only in English, which was problematic because there was no one on hand to answer our questions on arrival.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Loved the fact that the property was slightly rural, the views were lovely over the fields. Really good restaurant nearby that you can walk to, although there was only us and another couple there but had a great night all the same. Really friendly owners who couldnt do enough to help - so nice. Really clean room too.
Cons: As someone has previously said, a couple of tables and chairs in the sun would be lovely.

Pros: Katherine and her staff go out of their way to be helpful.
Cons: Since the hotel backs right up to the bus station, it can be a bit noisy. Ask for a room on the front side of the hotel.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Excellent staff, particularly Ivan who went out of his way to help us enjoy our stay. The room was comfortable, the shared spaces well decorated and spotlessly clean. A short walk to the old quarter and the beaches.
Cons: The one way system made it very difficult to locate the hotel, despite emailed help from the staff prior to arrival. Only street parking was available but this was not the fault of the hotel.

Pros: Location.
Cons: The parking is at a location nearby. My husband is a wheelchair user. The car park is underground with no elevator. His only access was by a steep ramp, very difficult and dangerous. The 24 hr parking fee of 15 euro should also be stated.

NH Gijón - Gijón - Building
9
8.4 Excellent (2,319 reviews)
Overview Reviews
The NH Gijón hotel is located close to the stunning San Lorenzo beach and only 15-minutes away from the historic center on foot. The glass-fronted modern building offers amazing sea views and guests can easily reach the Gijón Convention, Fair Center, as well as the Molinón stadium which are all within a 10-minute walk of the hotel. There are 64 rooms at NH Gijón and many offer lovely views over the Biscay Bay. Each room has a modern and elegant design and is equipped with free Wi-Fi. For lunch, we recommend our Gastro bar which serves tapas and light meals with your favorite drinks. The restaurant, Amares, serves contemporary Spanish cuisine. Guests can enjoy their meals in the light-filled dining room or at the casual and sophisticated Gastro bar. For relaxed conversation or a quick meeting, you can also head to the hotel’s lobby bar. On warm sunny days, enjoy a dip in the pool located on the rooftop terrace. Guests can unwind in the wellness area with its sauna and Turkish bath. The hotel also has four meeting rooms for up to 400 people to accommodate small and large functions.
7.1 Good
Pros: Swimming pool on the rooftop is really nice. Staff is very friendly. Location is good, albeit a good half an hour walk to the old centre of Gijon (which we liked though).
Cons: The price-quality was not in balance. We upgraded to a junior suite, which had more space but a smaller bed and a shower in the room. Awkward bathroom. On the whole the bulding was old, with old carpet in the hallways, and also the rooms were outdated. Furthermore you pay some 20 euro's per night for the car parking, which is too much, and almost 40 euro for breakfast (for 2 persons). The breakfast room is not nice and breakfast is oke, but not super.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Rooftop pool area Spacious room Pleasant staff
Cons: No double Beds but two singles. There comfortable but beware they are on castors and are prone to move Pricy parking No tea or coffee in the room overpriced mini bar
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Facilities
Cons: Average customer service
7.9 Good
Pros: +Excellent reception staff members who were always helpful and happy to assist with restaurant bookings and taxis required etc. +Rooms cleaned to a very high standard. +Breakfast excellent and staff wonderful at breakfast service. +Pool and area surrounding pool very clean and comfortable.
Cons: On the roof a bar has been created, however, it does not open until 8pm, therefore, there is no availability to be served any drinks hot/cold or snacks during the day. This was reported to the Hotel Manager and reception staff and the solution that they came up with 8 days into our stay was a notice at the pool next to a phone which displayed a very limited selection of snacks only available between 1.30-3.30 on the sun deck with a service charge the same as room service +€3 for any order under €9 We were surprised that the roof terrace was also closed on Wednesday night and we were unable to go for a drink. When we went to use the cocktail bar/ restaurant in the evening we were told that we could not have a cocktail until after 8pm?! On our first day we ventured to the basement following the lift signage to the restaurant- cafeteria where we were told rather sharply that ‘this is a restaurant” and we could order snacks on the roof terrace but it did not open until 8pm so having travelled from the UK we were unable to get anything to eat/drink within the hotel with **** until 8pm at night?! Please note room service does not start until 8pm - is this 4 star service ****?! Leaking shower at base reported and we were given an extra floor mat?! ( Room 213) Nothing done for 10 days. The gym is basic however we were happy to make use of it despite the dampness and smell of damp clearly caused by a leak where mould has grown and spread. Gym equipment is rusty. This needs attended to. Most concerning is that there is a lock on the fire door out of the gymnasium-this is against the law. To give some understanding as to why the services of a 4 star hotel were sought out and important for us: My mother and father are 72 years old and my mother is disabled following a spinal injury. My father is undergoing chemotherapy for advanced stage 4 Prostate Cancer. As a result he is currently unable to fly.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great place to stay
Cons: All good
9.6 Excellent
Pros: We really enjoyed our stay. The staff is excellent. Perfect location.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: My room was unbelievably spacious and pristine. The bathroom facilities were superb, and the bed was large and comfortable. The hotel's location is more or less in the centre of the city. The staff members I dealt with were friendly and helpful. The neighbouring square and streets provide plenty of food and drink options.
5.8 Okay
Pros: The bed was comfortable, the cleanness good and the parking discount quit well.
Cons: It is a 4 stars hotel but needs to be renovated. You can smell humidity at some areas and the surrounding looks old and degraded. The staff were too serious, no flexible and they have not clarified the booking details during the checking. We have booked 2 days and 2 breakfast but we had to leave before the 2nd breakfast. Anyway they have charge us the 2 breakfast. We are dissapointed.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This Hotel has all the appearance and decor of a grand hotel with classic style and immaculate interiors in all public areas. The rooms appear to have been recently refurbished and are very well designed, comfortable and functional. Very polite and helpful staff. Great breakfast and they invite you to request eggs cooked to your liking. I couldn't believe the quality of the establishment for the price!
Cons: No adverse comments to make!

10.0 Excellent
Pros: This is a wonderful property - the rooms have all been recently improved and the air conditioning/heating unit is super helpful, the bathrooms are enormous and clean, and the beds are extremely comfortable. The location is fantastic - you can walk anywhere in central Gijon within 15 mins with lots of stores, nearby beach San Lorenzo an easy 5-10 minute walk at max, and a nice café/bar offering. Bathroom was enormous - biggest I have ever seen in an European hotel! Enjoyed the three nights tremendously!

6.7 Good
Pros: Staff was helpful in resolving some room issues, breakfast was good with a beautiful view of the beach, and the location was great.
Cons: Room had a smoke smell, first room did not have an air conditioner as advertised, and when we switched rooms the air conditioner did nothing to cool the room anyway, not enough power outlets.
7.1 Good
Pros: Very good hotel location. On the sea shore. Nearby surf school. Onsite rooftop restaurant with ocean views every morrning.
Cons: Breakfast is very poor. The same salad in egg and fried ham with dice. Very difficult with parking a car all the day. The room is definitely not up to 4 * hotel level. The air conditioner was very loud in the room..
7.1 Good
Pros: Location, views and lovely large room
Cons: Air con didn’t work Lifts were tiny Had to lift luggage up stairs into the lobby - no ramp
7.5 Good
Pros: The hotel is located right next to the main Gijón beach and promenade so it is easy to walk to the centre and have access to shops and restaurants. It is also walking distance to the old neighborhood. The rooms Were simple but very clean and the beds were very comfortable. The covers and pillows were also of high quality cotton and very soft. The bathroom was enough and the room was silent. The room included a desk and a big flat TV with sufficient channels.
Cons: The staff was very “northern Spanish style”: not much talking, serious faces and slow to death. The price of the room was based on the location I believe and not on he quality of the rooms but on average is OK and I would probably would not mind staying there again. Breakfast at the hotel is not worth it because is expensive and for that price there are plenty of cafeterias next to he hotel with combo breakfast for 3 euros per person (coffee, orange juice and a nice croissant).
5.4 Okay
Pros: Location
Cons: No air conditioner in the room
6.0 Good
Pros: The view of the sea and beach is the only thing to really like. Room was good as well.
Cons: Very expensive parking. Hotel customers should get a discount. Staff unable to smile. When you have a shower you shower the whole bathroom.
3.8 Mediocre
Pros: Location near beach, however far from historic centre and restaurants.
Cons: Very poor breakfast offer. Malfunctioning AC unit. Noisy cleaning staff. Very simple and basic hotel that is uttelry overpriced.
6.3 Good
Pros: It was in good location.
Cons: We have to change the first room because the tobacco smell was strong and didn't have AC. The second room have AC but the noise of it was incredible.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location
Cons: Clean and comfortable
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Spacious room with vintage decoration. . Perfect for hipsters
4.6 Okay
Pros: Good position near a nice park, that's pretty much it.
Cons: Everything in this place is ANCIENT. It reminded me of the pensions I used to go to when I was a kid in the late '70s, even the smell from the restaurant and the waiters' look. Old furniture and old blankets, old everything. Good thing it was one night only.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Friendly reception and well organised. Hotel is well situated away from the sea front, and close to the shopping area. Parking was not cheap, but there is no cheap parking in the centre. Beware of the underground car park. Essential though it is, our Ford S Max went in and out with only inches to spare. Breakfast was fascinating with a large number of clients all the time and the waiters worked their socks off.
Cons: This a large city hotel and we missed the smaller family hotel atmosphere, but you can't have it all. Or can you?
7.5 Good
Cons: A little noisy suring our stay
1.0 Poor
Pros: Location was ok. The staff were friendly and did what they could. It was clean.
Cons: The rooms where very nousy, you could here every single movement the neighbours made. The walls where made of carbord I guess... No airconditioning...
5.4 Okay
Cons: Old hotel, noisy street and no air conditioning. Scary tight ramp to underground parking for 16 EUR. However good location.
