Friendly helpful staff. Large airy room with separate television area. Old palazzo style with high ceilings.
The bed needed an upgrade. It was hard with intrusive springs. Water pressure was low with insufficient hot water.
Beauty and historical. Staff were lovely and keen to help in any way. Gave good info on the area and recommended a lovely Italian restaurant. Room was comfy, very clean and had everything we needed.
Difficult to find if in a car, but once the hotel and car park was found, all was very good.
The room was excellent as was the welcome, the service and the breakfast.
The location is really good, near to the center, to the port (where I was before) and the train station (Walking 5 minutes).
The location is really good but the real problem is about the stairs. The hotel is located on the 3rd floor and there's no elevator. I knew it before when I checked the reviews but I chose anyway because you can walk to go to Piazza del Principe and I took the train very early morning. So, if you go there, don't go with a lot of luggages ( I had 1 small, 1 big and one backpack because I was living in Italy for 8 months), otherwise you will get angry to go up and down 3 times like me this morning to take the luggage.
I had a quiet, well-equipped single room in this 200-year-old picturesque hotel in the historical centre of Genoa. Located on Via Balbi, it is just metres (or minutes) away from the Genova Principe train station, the University, Palazzo Reale museum, well-decorated churches, intriguing and romantic squares, and an intricate network of winding alleys towards the port. Genoa in a nutshell! The staff were the most wonderful people, the epitome of cordiality, incredibly accommodating and full of useful tourist tips.
With a stay at Balbi Hotel, you'll be centrally located in Genoa, just a 4-minute walk from Galata Maritime Museum and 10 minutes by foot from White Palace (Palazzo Bianco). Featured amenities include a computer station, express check-in, and express check-out. Self parking (subject to charges) is available onsite.
