9.6 Excellent
Pros: Our room (Honeymoon Suite) was lovely - very spacious and comfortable. The location was good, just a short distance outside the town but an easy walk. It was lovely and quiet
Cons: The pool was too small although they had another pool which was for the exclusive use of the Villa which we did use when it was unoccupied
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Lovely comfortable place with lots of attention to detail. It's a very relaxing place to stay, with great views of the mountains.
Cons: Generally it needs some decoration, as it's looking a bit tired.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Tranquil location with stunning view and a wonderful pool only a few minutes from Franschhoek village. Great old villa, very friendly staff.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location and beautiful rooms.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: A charming guest farm in Franschoek Auberge Clermont is a charming guest farm. As we made a late check-in on arrival, we were only able to appreciate the lovely winter views from our room the next morning - vineyards on our doorstep and the mountains as a backdrop. Our room was tastefully decorated, and the farm has a pleasant ambience. Pepper, the farm's canine host, took us for a guided walk around the property, but we were not brave enough to join her as she crossed the river that runs through the property. Eventually, she got distracted by a burrow along the path, leaving us to meander along the vineyards on our own. Our host, Angela and her team were very accommodating, and gracious enough to allow us to have a late check out, as our flights were booked for the evening. The property is secluded enough to feel like an escape, but only around the corner from the town centre, making it convenient for dinner reservations. We will definitely be back.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Auberge was beautiful - the property was great and the staff were very friendly. Breakfast was delicious and the location is perfect.
Cons: As the rains were coming, there were some bugs in the bathroom.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: A lovely little bed & breakfast. We hardly saw other guests too, although they were there. Breakfast was lovely and our room with a veranda was a bonus.
7.5 Good
Pros: - Location on the wine estate was beautiful, but also still close to Franschhoek centre - Comfortable rooms - Swimming pool
Cons: - We had to wait an hour before we could have our breakfast; because there was a large group of people having breakfast before us. We we offered a table outside (temperature of 16 degrees), so we declined. After waiting an hour, we could have breakfast, but some of the buffet was not refilled. Considering the price for this stay, this issue could have been handled much better, or even be prevented (planning).
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Auberge Clermont is a magnificent property, well managed and maintained. We have stayed there often and each time we return we are never disappointed.

9.2 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was fantastic. Fresh juice, coffee of your choice and portions small enough so that you can enjoy lunch again. Lovely view, big spacious room and bathroom. Coffee and fridge. We really had a great stay and did the park run next door at Rickety Ridge on Saturday. Beautiful maintained gardens and loved the view of the mountain.
Cons: There wasn't anything I didn't like. a Flower pot broke by when I lift it up (must have had a weak spot) and when I reported it they made me feel as if I did it on purpose and I had to explain again. They could have responded by saying "Happy you didn't cut your hand and don't worry to much about it". Could have made the avo portion with breakfast slightly more.
10.0 Excellent

Cons: The room was lovely. The bed super comfy. We loved all the amenities. I upgraded to get a tub but when we arrived there was a sign to please not use it. It was due to water restrictions but that would have been nice to know ahead of time.

Pros: It was wonderful. Staff were friendly and helpful
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Wonderful staff, comfortable and private rooms, excellent breakfast!
Cons: Can't think of anything.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This boutique hotel is a little gem and reflects the beauty and simplicity that Franschoek represents. The room was beautiful and the staff were absolutely wonderful and very welcoming. I'd definitely stay there again.
Cons: My only suggestion was that our room in particular was a bit dark and needs a bit more lighting. Other than that we were very comfortable.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: We stayed in the superior king room for the weekend and the room was fantastic - spacious, bright and comfortable. The breakfast was exceptional, was made with really fresh ingredients and served by lovely waiting staff. Overall I think you’ll struggle to find better value for money in Franschhoek.
Cons: We arrived late and was told that we could collect the room key from the security guard, but he wasn’t sure what to do when we arrived. We then called the staff member on duty to assist us and as soon as he arrived, he started screaming aggressively and loudly at the poor security guard. This was very unprofessional behavior and very unpleasant. To be honest, a security guard is there for security, they can not take responsibility for checking in guests and even if so, it’s certainly not appropriate to behave in such a way towards anyone, no matter who you are or what you’ve done. I wanted to subtract more points from the staff due to this experience, but felt that it would be unfair to all the lovely ladies in the kitchen and service area.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Friendly staff - very easy to arrive and leave - very conveniently positioned in the town - nice and cosy
Cons: cant think of anything.
7.1 Good
Pros: What a little haven of happiness the Macron is. Close to everything but quiet enough to feel out of town. Beautifully kept property with modern finishes and relaxed luxury tone to the interiors... nice to find something more contemporary and fresh.
Cons: Could do with some background ambience in the breakfast area which is far too quiet.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Absolutely beautiful, thanks to the staff and Nadia for their excellent hospitality
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The B&B is very nicely appointed in a charming French Provencal style with lovely linens and cozy robes. Bed was very comfortable and the bathroom offered a large shower. Staff were very friendly, helpful and committed to making our stay a good experience. While we had our own vehicle, this place is centrally located and a good option for those who want to minimize any driving. It is walking distance to all the restaurants in town as well as the wine train for those who want to not worry about driving while wine tasting.
Cons: In the room we had, an investment in double-pane windows would have been great. There were really no good sound barriers in the room and while the town quiets down at night, it still impacts your experience during the cusp hours of the day. However, each room is different so cannot speak to whether this was an issue in any of the other rooms.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Big modern room only a short walk away from the center. The host and staff were very kind and accomodating. Lovely breakfast. Definitely recommended!

Cons: The rain.........
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We recently stayed two nights in the deluxe sunflower suite and we absolutely loved it. Both the actual suite as well as the location is fantastic for the value. The location of the guesthouse is very close to be able to walk to pretty much most places of interest within the village but also just far enough away from the main road for this to be very quiet and peaceful. Tina and Michelle we incredibly friendly and helpful. I especially enjoyed all the notes on the recommendations for restaurants in the area as well as learning about the origins of the Sunflower Fund which Tina started. The suite itself was warm and inviting and the balcony is one of the best spots to sit and have a glass of wine or your morning coffee. We stay in Franschhoek a few times a year and this has become a fast favourite spot.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Beautifully furnished room. Loved the balcony!
Cons: Aircon turned off and wouldn't turn on over night. Very cold! The shower floor was very slippery when wet. These are just pointers not criticisms - we loved the room!

Sightseeing in the area is easy, with The Huguenot Memorial Monument and Huguenot Memorial Museum both nearby. When guests have some time on their hands they can make use of the onsite facilities. 9.6 Excellent
Pros: Kristina, Wolfgang and all the staff were excellent - very friendly and helpful. The Manor and its setting are lovely and there is an evening shuttle to local restaurants, wineries etc. We were upgraded to the Garden Cottage which is fabulous. It is extremely comfortable and well appointed although the bathroom could be a little bigger - to be fair this is called out on the Manor's website and is a minor point. Overall an excellent choice.
Cons: My only compliant (minor) was that connectivity to the internet in our room was hit and miss. Connectivity in the public areas was fine.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We stayed at Franschhoek Manor for the last 2 nights of a recent 2-week holiday to South Africa. We stayed at numerous guesthouses during our stay and this was our favourite. The house and gardens are stunning. As well as the large pool (there are 2 pools in total) and surrounding terraces there are little secret seating areas hidden about the garden including double swinging daybeds to relax on and enjoy the beauty of the planting. A true oasis of calm! The house itself is wonderful with a large inviting lounge and dining area for the use of guests with the added bonus of an honesty bar.. Our room was luxurious with a huge, modern 4 poster super-comfy bed. It was triple aspect with double doors on both sides each leading out to the 2 pools. It had the largest en-suite I have ever had in a hotel or guesthouse, and not forgetting the complimetary coffee, tea, wine, water fruit . . . The lovely owner, Christina was extremely welcoming and very helpful booking restaurants and transport when we needed them! Her team, led by the very capable Cindy, were friendly yet discreet.
Cons: That we had only booked 2 nights.
10.0 Excellent

Pros: The location was superb, the accommodation spacious and well done (though the room did have a bit of a musty scent). Food was amazing, honesty bar appreciated and the relaxed elegance was simply brilliant. Good service and attitude from the staff. Fabulous wines just added to the weekend.
Cons: As mentioned, room had a musty scent and there was a sound of running water that could be heard from the room. We informed them and they promised to look into it. Only (minor) issues. Full price might have felt like not such good value.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This is the most perfect spot ever! Amazing view, super friendly staff, delicious food.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: location was great. Peaceful and quiet. Very accommodating and friendly.
Cons: Attention to details was lacking, especially when it came to amenities in the room. My room was fine, but my daughters room lacked a few standard 5 star amenities, like a shower caps etc. The parking could be more user friendly.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Cape Dutch building & setting by the lake Complimentary wine tasting & bottle of wine Exquisite breakfast Open fire in the bedroom
Cons: The interior decor & artwork was very contemporary. We prefer a traditional interior with antiques.
7.5 Good
Pros: The rooms were a nice size and the breakfast was good . The staff were pleasant . The property is lovely. Wine tasting team were also very friendly and welcoming. It was good value for money however if we had paid the full list rate I would have been disappointed
Cons: It was very difficult to find any staff to assist one outside of the breakfast time . The mineral water provided in our room was ready open and when I tried to find someone to help me replace it at 8pm I could not find anyone. We were also advised that there was high tea served from 3-5pm but when we got there at 4.30pm there was no one to be found. The property definitely requires some maintenance and the showerhead in our room needs replacing as it blocked up with lime scale. (I had to try clean it myself to get water to spray decently). In addition the shower leaks as there is a gap in the glass door. Tv is also too small for the room. We had also requested early check in at 11am which was confirmed but when we got there at 11am, we were advised that the check in time was only at 2pm and that our room was not ready. They did however manage to get it ready by 12.30.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Overall one of the best locations in Franschoek
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly accommodating staff. Justin was extremely knowledgeable and helpfull when we were planning our day. Even though we had visited the area before he made great suggestions which enhanced our days out. We thought being able to have a drink at the bar before we went out was a lovely start to the evening. We could not fault our stay . The location is ideal for a short stroll to all the town has to offer especially the wine tram and amazing restaurants. We always felt well looked after and very comfortable. The garden and rooms are well appointed and beautifully looked after. Plenty of sun loungers around the pool and chairs in the garden. Loved eating breakfast in the garden courtyard. Loved the communal lounge with nice soft furnishings, ideal place to have a complimentary night cap of sherry with other guests when we returned from our evenings out. Stayed in two different rooms during our stay, both well furnished and great comfortable beds, slept really well which is important on holiday. Thank you to all the team, well run , friendly and professional .
Cons: Having to leave after 6 days

Pros: Breakfast was delicious, something for all tastes and enough choices for a child too. Close to the high street but far enough away to feel as though you were in the countryside. Beautiful lavender fields. Great place to stay in summer with the swimming pool and relaxing loungers. I would happily stay there again.
Cons: Suggestion to put up a screen on the pathway that overlooks the car park, could grow a creeper over it.....would allow for more privacy in room 15.

9.6 Excellent
Pros: A piece of paradise, tucked away off the main street in Franschhoek. Beautifully kept secluded gardens are a perfect retreat from the bustle of the streets. Staff were most professional, and our room was simply perfect, we couldn't want for a thing. We had dinner in La Petite Colombe, which is on the hotel premises. We consider La Colombe to be one of the best restaurants in Africa, and it's 'newer' sibling did not disappoint. Altogether, an excellent experience, marred only by breakfast, see below.
Cons: Breakfast was not pleasant. Admittedly, we anticipated an excellent experience in the Protege Restaurant, but we were very disappointed. The buffet was standard fare, nothing special. The cooked breakfast was very oily, overcooked, and not hot by the time it arrived at the table. We imagined that lunch and dinner would be excellent, but management should keep away from breakfasts and let the hotel take care of that meal.
7.9 Good
Pros: The location is excellent and all the facilities are very clean and comfortable.
Cons: We were coming to the hotel straight from getting engaged and I had informed the hotel of such when making the booking weeks before. This is where I was let down. They didn’t even raise an eyebrow to us when we arrived. I had had to choose from a number of 5 star hotels in the area and I now regret that I chose this one. I definitely didn’t expect anything too special, even just a “congratulations” from the staff would have been better than what we got. When I finally reminded the one staff member of our occasion, she just said “I know”. Had there been a quick welcome drink on arrival or small congratulatory note in our room on our arrival and I would probably be writing a completely different review. Our room was also the least private of all rooms and it made us feel like we were on show for other guests to walk past and stare at. Again, I didn’t expect an upgrade, but maybe just an extra layer of care. When we asked to go wine tasting, the car was late to fetch us. Then again we were left waiting to return home for over 30mins at the wine tasting. I am left very disappointed as this was supposed to be a special treat for my fiancé and it left her feeling like we were an afterthought.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great room and peaceful
Cons: You need to book restaurants well in advance
10.0 Excellent
Cons: I just loved how gorgeous our room was, the artworks around the property is just awesome. The food at Protégé restaurant was just Devine... We didn’t get to experience La Petit Colombe but La Colombe is one of my favoutites so I guess it goes without saying, simply sublime. The service was also impeccable, I give them 10/10, worth another visit soon.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: IN a word. Exceptional.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: A world-class, tranquil, beautiful and classy boutique hotel in the centre of Franschhoek. As with the rest of the Leeu offerings, pure class in all aspects, including superb and warm service by well-trained staff. You will leave with a desire to return.
Cons: Not a thing out of place here.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Amazing location and attention to detail ! Really lovely place.
7.9 Good
Pros: nice setting, really good, comfortable, elegent, breakfast top
Cons: we booked here to visit the restaurant la petite Colombe, or le Protege, they confirmed a table in the Dining Room. So we were happy. However, after arrival, the Dining Room is a different restaurant in the Leeu estate (we were not aware) so we had no table during our stay in la petite Colombe or le Protege, because both were fully booked all the time. In The Dining Room, we were the only guest at the time. We asked the chef to prepare some sort of surprise menu, which he did. The diner itself was very good by the way.
7.9 Good
Pros: Great position lovely staff
Cons: Menu very limited villa 2 bedrooms good 2 terrible really only for children pools were freezing and not heated not acceptable our pool in Cape Town heated and bedrooms nicer one goes away to be comfortable

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Incredibly friendly and gracious staff. Upgraded room was an unexpected delight. And the views from the property are simply stunning.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The bed was amazing, the room spacious, the gardens gorgeous and the views absolutely amazing! A lot of spaces in the garden to relax and enjoy the fresh air, views or just relax.
Cons: The aircon unit has this stupid blue light that is very annoying when one wants a dark room when you sleep. The ceiling fan also noisy on Medium and High speed.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything first class
Cons: Nothing
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Great staff. Really good breakfasts - nice variety and great fresh fruit selection. Nice location - quiet and good views.
Cons: Would have been nice to be able to walk into Franschoek town centre at night, but apparently a bit risky to do so.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Lovely tranquil setting with two pools and glorious views. Excellent breakfast. Friendly staff. Luxury touches. Nice furnishings and furniture.
Cons: Room was too small for a 6 night stay. Claim of 10 minute walk to village is somewhat overstated. 10 minutes will get you to the Huguenot monument. Difficult to walk back after dark due to no lights on access road. Blighted by power shedding during the time of our stay as property does not have its own generator.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful views and gardens. Very close (walking distance) to the main road. Fantastic proprietor that helped us correct our booking mistake. Breakfast was great too! Rooms were spacious and clean. 10/10
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful place with a great location and amazing scenery. The rooms are spacious and beautiful decorated. The breakfast is fantastic, such high quality food with lovely extras like mint in the strawberries and fresh pastries every day . Sparkling wine on arrival is a lovely touch.
Cons: We were in a pool side room which is beside where breakfast is served so it’s a bit loud in the mornings but when in Franschhoek you might as well get up early! The view from the rooms are worth it and very quiet for the rest of the day and at night.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The fabulous views.
Cons: It was great with all that we needed, I was just disappointed at the quality of the towels.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This is one the the nicest bed and breakfasts in South Africa. The service couldn't be better. The views are extraordinary. The breakfast is lovely. The location, a 12 minute walk from the village is perfect. It is quiet, well maintained and charming
Cons: nothing. My only complaint is that it is very popular and often hard to get into.... but that really is just an indication of their success.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Absolutely amazing experience. Staff is incredibly friendly and the rooms are excellant. Couldn't fault a single thing! It's also extremely close to the centre of town.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: I loved Carlof's hospitality the first night - very welcoming, made us lovely sandwiches. Very attentive. The decor in this place is truly amazing. And the bathrooms were wonderful. All finishes and creature comforts are great. Breakfasts were delicious. Staff were friendly and helpful. Wifi was great. When they made a mess of our pizzas (see complaint below), they took the entire meal and drinks off our bill - a more than decent response! The decor is probably the best feature overall. Very tasteful and creative. As well as the location. It was very easy to walk everywhere, as they're a block behind the main road.
Cons: The pizzas they prepared the one night for guests who didn't want to eat out were really terrible. Not in keeping with the rest of the quality of the stay. The idea was a nice gesture, but the execution was really bad. To their credit, they took everything off our bill (including the drinks we'd had) so no complaints there - very magnanimous response! The mens' guest loo was often dirty (urine spillage, and unflushed), which is not something they can control for completely, but would suggest regular checks on the state of guest loos by the staff to maintain the cleanliness. Also, for some reason, not one toilet in the entire establishment had a seat and lid that would actually stay in place. They were clearly either poorly installed, or poorly designed, but they were shifting all the damn time. Quite off-putting. The bedrooms are a little small (at least ours was) in comparison to the fantastic bathrooms - almost like in building the place, they sacrificed bedroom space for bathroom space. At breakfast, some of the staff members really struggled to understand English, so it was a little awkward trying to get a simple order across sometimes. Lastly, the room replenishment left a little to be desired - particularly the bar fridge. Pringles, wine and chocolates were consumed, and they would be randomly replenished, so we'd have to specifically ask.
7.9 Good
Pros: the service was excellent, the lounge area was very comfortable. the situation close to the main shopping area and wine farms was very good. the atmosphere was relaxing good coffee. the staff attention was excellent
Cons: the bedrooms were not the most comfortable. no space on tables next to the beds. Duvet too heavy and pillows uncomfortable. the showers did not work very well the barman served us the incorrect drinks!!! breakfast was mediocre
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Fantastic guest house. Staff was super helpful, beds was amazing, walking distance to restaurants, great breakfast. We had a great time. Thank you very much. We will definitely be back!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The staff are brilliant and the location is convenient, a short walking distance from the main street. I really liked the design of the hotel - its fun and unique. Drinks at the fireplace in the evening was a highlight. There are also several pools and so it isn't crowded. They also offer free bicycles (but we didn't have time to try them. ) Great local coffee is provided in the rooms. The breakfast was lovely, and the staff made a special effort to prepare an extra early morning breakfast for us before we had to leave for the airport. There is a nice gentleman who stays up at reception at night so you feel safe when you arrive home late at night.
Cons: We could sometimes hear our neighbours/their television. The bathroom design is very modern with no shower door, but it resulted in the floor getting quite wet which is little annoying when using the bathroom. These were just small things and didn't impact the enjoyment of our stay.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Every part of this experience was immense - personalised service, catering to our needs, recommendations and a real feeling of being at home.
Cons: Wouldn't change a thing
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Lovely staff, fresh interior design, bedding.
Cons: Next time we will stay in an outside room as we were woken each morning by activity downstairs such as the front doorbell and staff getting breakfast ready.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Our stay exceeded expectations in every way. From the warm welcome we received from Kim, the quality of our boutique accommodation , the service from Andrew and the helpfulness of Cecilia and Christopher. Breakfast was plentiful (fruit, cereal and pastries buffet) as well as freshly cooked options. La Fontaine is a quality venue, very well located, close to the main street but in quiet surroundings.
Cons: Nothing.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The people
Cons: TV too difficult to operate. Also choice of channels limited.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Warm and friendly staff
Cons: Lots of noise from children running in the upstairs corridor - we had to ask them to be quiet Bedroom door does not seal properly, so we had the bright light from the corridor shining into the room the whole night Bathroom got soaked, because there is no shower door - nice design idea, but messy outcome

9.6 Excellent
Pros: It was in a good location, the room was so lovely, comfortable and clean.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Big, clean room, with nice decoration and on a calm location s walking distance from the Main Street. Friendly staff and owners who did everything in their hands to fix the issues we had.
Cons: During our stay we had two issues which affected negatively our overall experience. There was noise from a maintenance in the building, starting 08:30 in the morning on the Saturday morning. I think the maintenance will soon be completed, and this should not be an issue in the future for other guests. Additionally, our room had no hot water. The other rooms didn’t had the same issue. The owners and the staff were very attentive and found other rooms for us to use. I thing it will be fixed soon as they were already working on it when we left. Despite the issues we found it is a place we could recommend as soon as it the maintenance they are doing is over. To be fair with other reviews we did where everything was perfect we had considered it in our evaluation.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The location is beautiful. Rooms are lovely and everything you need. A good meeting from the dogs.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Friendly hosts, great accommodation, access to tourist attractions, they delivered what they promised. Beautiful finishes, great outdoor area.
Cons: Would have preferred dedicated kitchen setup, even with a small sink for coffee water.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Every thing is fine, neat and clean, all you need for a pleasant stay.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Loved the private garden and couch/seating area! The black out curtains were great as was the coffee and bed/bedding. It was a beautiful location and super comfy to stay and easy access to restaurants and market.
Cons: Maybe check the hot water pressure...wasn't a big deal though.
7.9 Good
Pros: our host has suggested visiting an art caffee for weekly jazz concert. make sure you will not miss it so go and book yourself a table as soon as possible as the locals flock to this event. food and wine may be not the best but the atmosphere is more than excellent. You will love it - especially if you like to dance (between the tables) ;(
