Cons: Booking.com did not inform us the hotel takes cash only.

Pros: Great location, good breakfast and excellent very helpful host.
Cons: Nothing of significance.
9.6 Excellent

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Nice host Comfortable rooms Good location Very clean
Cons: Cafe not very strong
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Claudia makes the most amazing breakfasts, and both her and her husband are very friendly and helpful with regards to what to do and eat while you’re there. The bed is huge and very comfortable. The room is nice and spacious too.
Cons: This property is located a little away from the main strip but that doesn’t really matter as El Chalten is small and everything is easily walkable. A kettle would have been nice to make our own coffee in the evenings. The temperature in the shower can be hard to get right.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly staff, comfortable and clean room.
Cons: The bathroom was a little stinky because of the open drain in the floor.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything about Anita's House was awesome! Anita was incredibly helpful with restaurants, laundry, and hiking info. She went above and beyond with everything we needed- even booked a bus to pick us up for a hike! The cabin was perfect for what we needed and in an incredible location, close to all the shops, restaurants, and hikes!
Cons: Everything was perfect :)
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Super friendly owner was extremely helpful with advice for activities or day to day planning. Location is right in the center of town: perfect for hikes, food, supermarkets. Apartment was brand new and very comfortable.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: It's so comfortable and cosy. Anita is really friendly and knowledgeable. Right in the middle of the town.
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Absolutely the best host we ever had. Clean place, great location, beautiful time. Thank you Anita for having us, I will surely recommend you to all my friends.
Cons: Wifi could be better, but it’s a small village and no one has good wifi. We worked with what we had.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Anita was very nice and helpful, the apartment was clean and cosy, we would definitely return
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Anita is very friendly and helpful! Very nice apartment in good location. We would definitely choose it again
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The location is great, the view is amazing, the style is awesome... but the homemade alfajor... wow! Incredible!
Cons: Sometimes it was a little colder than expected inside the apartment, but very comfortable, beautiful and functional!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We loved everything at Anita's house, from check-in to check-out. Anita was super helpful, and the apartment was perfect for our needs. It's well located for all the hikes, has a strong shower and a comfy bed. 10/10.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This is a great place and Anita is a fantastic host, helpful, friendly and warm. The apartment was extremely comfortable, had great lighting and tastefully styled - plus it had a bath for after those long cold hikes!! An added bonus is the coffee and cakes made by Anita,s husband, Leon, in his premises right next door. It was the best coffee we've had in Argentina and the little speciality biscuits are fantastic. The area is just beautiful and we would have loved to stay longer
Cons: That we couldn't stay longer!!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Anita's house was exceed my expectation. We had a warm welcome from owner, Anita and Leo. Both of them are friendly and wonderful. Anita always provided us more information of El Chalten, where we can travel or what we can do during a bad weather. Also, her coffee and Alfajores in her cafe was very nice. The house was big enough to fit 6 people in one place and was provided with full equipped for cooking. The house was super clean as Anita always clean everyday except when we said we don't need cleaning. Location was great, it located near restaurants and cafes.
Cons: wifi is not strong but can't complain much as its all the same in El Chalten
Lago Viedma B&b - El Chaltén - Building
3
9.3 Excellent (224 reviews)
Overview Reviews
Located in El Chalten, Lago Viedma B&B is a 1-minute drive from Capilla de los Escaladores and 9 minutes from Salto El Chorrillo Waterfall. Featured amenities include dry cleaning/laundry services and luggage storage.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The women who run the hotel are super helpful -- they gave us a bunch of information and tips for our hike in the morning. They also helped us get a cab the next day, after we had already checked out and returned from our hike. In addition, even though breakfast is 7-9, they left breakfast out for us for our leaving early. Went well above and beyond the call of duty!
Cons: It's fairly small, simple accommodations -- everything a person needs, but don't expect anything too fancy!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Perfect stay for couples! Cute, cozy, great location and the girls running the place were just amazing. They had all the local tips for hikes and restaurants we needed. Breakfast was perfect before a big hike too. Highly recommend!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Friendly B&B with a very warm and homely atmosphere. The hosts were lovely and very helpful too. Would definitely recommend!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The hosts are wonderful, so warm, accommodating and so much useful info on hiking around the area. Their service was well above expected, not only cleaning our room every morning, but also organizing our stuff! Breakfast was amazing, great variety of home made goodies... including fresh orange juice!
Cons: We just wished out bathroom had a fan for better ventilation. Hosts also warned us of early morning noise as our room was on the main floor beside the dining area/entrance/kitchen, but we didn't find it bad.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: location and staff, comfortable stay
Cons: nothing!
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Lina and Augustina were fantastic hosts and they do such a great job maintaining the house - the house is small but very cozy, and central to everything in town and the trails. We loved being able to be so close to all the great cafes and restaurants!!
Cons: We stayed in the twin room, the room lacks a bit of ventilation (there's a small window in the room which doesn't open), but there's another small window in the adjoining bathroom which opens to give some air. Because there is another room that is right next door and the walls are quite thin, you can hear everything the people in the next room is saying or doing. And if the people next door happen to have a deeper or slightly louder tone or voice, it is difficult to be distracted from that.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly and helpful staff, great and individual breakfast, good location, nice, cozy and welcoming rooms, highly recommendable
Cons: No heating in the bathroom, not possible to open the window in the sleeping room
9.6 Excellent
Pros: We stayed 5 nights for our hiking getaway. Great breakfast with homemade bread, eggs every morning even bacon a couple of days. On days we wanted a super early start before breakfast time, the left out some bread and pastries for us. The hosts were excellent and very customer service oriented. The town isn't that big, so you can easily walk to all the restaurants/bars/etc, but it was nice having Curcuma, the vegan restaurant we loved only half a block away (and we aren't even vegan). Also a spa and corner store with wine and snacks across the street. All the major trailheads are only 10 minute walk away.
Cons: The downstairs room was a little loud between the rooms overhead and being right next to the common area. The hosts were great and got us switched to an upstairs room on the 3rd night which was great for us. We would definitely stay here again.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Self-made breakfast. It was incredible and every day a little bit different. Homemade pastries, compote, muesli with seeds and nuts, coffee, tea, hot chocolate, toast, fresh scrambled eggs, juice and fruits. Tea, coffee and fruits are free to take also in the afternoon. The room was cosy and clean. The beds were very comfortable. They booked us a shuttle for a hiking tour and gave us good informations about the national park. The staff was very friendly and we felt like home. The beginning of the trekking route to Lago de Torre was next to the hostel. It‘s only ten minutes to the bus station. We loved our holiday in El Chaltèn and the hostel made it perfect.
Cons: There was nothing to complain about.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: It's close to the main street and to the main hiking path starting points. Breakfast was great (as well as the box lunches they offer!) and the owners are very helpful and welcoming. Beds were comfy and it was always clean and warm in the room/house.
Cons: It's a bit tricky to find enough space to put the luggage in the room because it is very small but I guess this is due to the structure of the house. The water system is very noisy every time one uses it in the house and water doesn't come through at first but then no problem at all. It is a wood house so you can basically hear everything but most of the travellers keep it quiet since everybody sleeps early to hike the next day so it is not a problem (bring some earplugs anyway!) Suggestion: Maybe one more shelf in the bathroom to put our things?
Destino Sur - El Chaltén - Bedroom
4
9.1 Excellent (541 reviews)
Overview Reviews
Located in El Chalten, Destino Sur is in a provincial park, a 2-minute drive from Capilla de los Escaladores and 8 minutes from Viedma Lake. Featured amenities include dry cleaning/laundry services, a 24-hour front desk, and luggage storage. Free self parking is available onsite.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Large comfortable hotel with spacious rooms. The TV remote in my TV wouldn't work even after the staff tried to resolve the issues so they changed my room for me. Very close to a lot of nice cervecerias and restaurants. Two blocks away from the entrance to the Fitz Roy trails.
Cons: A little expensive for what it was but Patagonia is expensive. Daily room cleaning could have been much more thorough although it was satisfactory. 15 min walk to the bus station.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Good location, close to start of Fitz Roy and Laguna Torres tracks. Good breakfast, good restaurant, spa.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The location was awesome, very close to the mountains and starting point of several trackings. The restaurant behind the hotel (la oveja negra) is amazing! The Spa is nice but you can only book it for 45 minutes a day, which is pretty short for a sauna and some relaxing time in the jacuzzi. Breakfast is great! A lot of things from the breakfast is homemade. Staff is very helpful, they can tell you about trackings in the area, and we could borrow an adapter from the hotel.
Cons: The WiFi is terrible, but this is due to El Chalten, not to the hotel. The rooms are fine and large, but the bathrooms are a little bit outdated. And we’ve had a strange situation in the spa one day; me and my boyfriend booked the spa for 45 minutes. After about 30 minutes, somebody of the staff opened the door without knocking..!! No excuses, just acted like that was completly normal... We felt really uncomfortable...
7.5 Good
Pros: The rooms were spacious and clean.
Cons: The hallway floors were not carpeted (they were wood or a wood composite), so it was very loud and noisy when people were walking in the halls. The staff at the reception desk were not friendly at all and made you feel like you were interrupting their life. They advertise that they have a fitness area with a stationary bike and treadmill, but there was no stationary bike to be found and the treadmill was in the corner in the spa where it was hot and humid.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Comfortable, clean, great staff and great value
Cons: The bar wasn’t always attended and had to ask for someone to serve but it wasn’t a big deal.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful new hotel, large rooms and friendly and helpful staff! Great breakfast and restaurant as well.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Good location to start some of the walks
Cons: I did find it a bit warm in the rooms for my taste, but we are all different
7.1 Good
Pros: Breakfast was good, the produce was fresh and there was a wide variety of foods to choose from. Dinner at the restaurant was great- they provided a 10% discount for guests.
Cons: Wi-fi was weak. Other than some basic mail work, the WI-FI couldn’t be used for anything much else. Also the cleanliness of the place leaves much to be desired. On the surface, everything looks clean and tidy, but under the bed, there were dust balls! (And that triggered some serious nose allergies!) So obviously cleaning thoroughly is not a regular practice there.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful property with comfortable rooms, Spa available for use in 45 minute increments, lovely breakfast, close to the main hiking trails at the end of main street. +luggage storage
Cons: No late check-out available (requested extra hour for a friend who wasn't feeling well)- they remained firm at 10am.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: 45 min spa included per day Very good breakfast Clean rooms Very good shower Included very good mountain bikes

Pros: Location is good. Apartment was comfortable. The manager was nice although it was hard to communicate as she only speaks Spanish.
Cons: A problem with the reservation which took some time to resolve due to language difficulty.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The apartment was very spacious, with two bathrooms, one downstairs and one upstairs. There is a safe box in bedroom, very convenient for us to store valuables when hiking. Breakfast is not included, however we received delicious cakes very afternoon. We extended our stay from one night to three nights.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Location is very convenient Very confortable
8.8 Excellent
Pros: There was no breakfast served so I can not rate the coffee :)
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Great location. Great wifi. Great hostess .. she made apple crumble for us :)
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The view was amazing and the little goodies at the end of each day was a wonderful touch. Mara was very accommodating and helpful.
Cons: I wish there was an outside patio where we could sit and enjoy the sun and my dad wishes CNN was on the TV in English.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The place is homyand comfy. It is more like a small house. I stay in an apartment which is offering for 4 people. I think 2-3 people are ok but for4 might be a bit small. For 2 people is the perfect size. The location is great on the street and not far from the starting point of the treks. The wifi signal is strong. Badically, i like the property and ithink its value to what i paid.
Cons: N/A
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very cosy and comfortable apartment. We stayed with four people and it was spacious- one couple upstairs in the bedroom and two of us downstairs with a bed and pull out bed. The kitchen is terrifically equipped and Mara was a generous host with lovely touches. It’s an easy walk to the middle of town and to the beginning of the National Park walks.
Cons: Nothing!
7.1 Good
Pros: Spacious and comfortable for two people, not so much for 4 people
Cons: Expensive
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We spent four lovely days at Lo de Tomy. Mara surprised us everyday with delicious backeries and she and all her family were very nice and helpful. The Appartmets are just renovated and are very comfortable, warm and functional. We will come back!

9.1 Excellent (135 reviews)

Guests are greeted with a cup of tea on their arrival. Nothofagus Bed & Breakfast has comfortable rooms with mountain views, parquet floors and Alpine-style décor. Rooms with shared and private bathrooms can be booked. A daily breakfast with regional jams is offered. The bus station is only 400 metres from the B&B.
7.9 Good
Pros: The location is excellent, the afternoon tea was a nice touch, and the cleaner (sorry- I can't remember her name) was lovely and friendly. It is a smart, clean and well maintained b&b, very close to the trail heads for all the main hikes in the area.
Cons: The staff were not very warm and we were "hushed" at breakfast for talking! The service was not very personal and the breakfast was bland. A smile, a few eggs and a little fruit would have made the world of difference!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff was very helpful and friendly. Breakfast was very substantial. Location was great. B and B was cozy. Room had a great view.
Cons: Room number 1 is right next to reception and so was noisy almost all the time, when people came down for breakfast at 6:15am, when people were in the breakfast area for tea between 4 and 7pm and when people came in late in the evening.
7.5 Good
Pros: The view from the breakfast window.
Cons: The staff are a bit cold and remote and doesn't want to offer advice. I guess they don't want to take any responsibilities of poor advice. They keep asking you to go to the tourist office. The breakfast is really basic.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely quiet place, centrally located, welcoming and helpful staff, good breakfast, comfy beds
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Room was nice and comfortable. Has a quite and calm atmosphere, with a feeling of a little hotel. Complimentary tea from 5-7 pm for after your hike. Very helpful and pleasant staff. From Room 1, you have a great view on Fitz Roy (for the sunrise, if you are lucky!) Good WiFi.
Cons: The double bed was a bit too small. A little far from the main restaurant area.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Comfortable beds in a beautiful, clean room. Plenty of space. Nice breakfast. Hot, strong showers. Super friendly staff.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The staff went out of their way to offer help and small services, like providing a flask of hot water for tea late at night.
Cons: The walls are paper thin, so you hear everything. It does feel a little like you are living in a very confined space and on top of other people. The bed was a bit too soft as well.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I would give 20 stars if I could. And all of the stars are for the staff of this B and B, who are just stellar. Always friendly and ready to help with hikes and any other information. Gave us great tips on local places to eat and also all the hikes. I really miss you all.
7.5 Good
Pros: verygood
Cons: stairway
8.8 Excellent
Pros: There is free tea in the afternoon. We could take hot water for tea for hiking. We were allowed to leave our backpacks in the hostel once we checked out and picked them up when we returned from our day trip. Good recommendations for dinner.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Perfectly fine accommodation for a short stay in El Chalten. Warm rooms heated by radiators and comfortable beds. We shared a bathroom - hot water and bathrooms were always clean. Basic breakfast and pleasant staff. A short walk from all day hiking.
Cons: Wifi was virtually non-existent, but I believe this is common in El Chalten.

Pros: - Comfortable rooms and cozy public spaces with fireplaces. - Great location in beautiful valley - The breakfast was delicious here. There was plenty of fresh fruit, cereals, eggs, etc. - Highly recommend eating dinner here with regional Argentinian dishes
Cons: The only negative is they are cash only which makes it difficult for longer stays.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: We loved the hospitality and the location of this charming hotel. We were also very impressed with the delicious meals served on premises. The location was perfect as it allowed us to hike to fitz Roy right from the front door of the hotel. We also loved meeting coca the hotel cat that entertained us during dinner time.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location is fantastic and the people are even nicer! We were well taken care of and the view is surreal.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Gustavo and Cristina and staff are terrific. Food is excellent and experience was fantastic. The bumpy dirt road to get there from El Chalten might be a negative for some but we thought it added to the charm.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: It’s very comfortable, especially after a long and tiring trek. The host is super helpful. She gave us recommendations and tips about Fitz Roy. The location is good. It’s near a supermarket and entrance of trekking, which is quite convent. It’s within walking distance to the bus station. The kitchen and the room are very clean. I really like the kitchen, in which we can cook our own food. The WiFi is good also. Recommend!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location is good near the start of fitzroy route. I love heater in the house and hot water.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The service. María was so nice and helpful. I made a mistake in my reservation and she helped me to find the best solution. It’s a quiet and nice area, near the trekking acceses.
Cons: None
7.9 Good
Pros: Easy check in and out. Friendly staff and comfortable room. Close to major hiking trails, which means it is at the other end of town.
Cons: Nothing
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Friendly staff
Cons: Credit cards not accepted
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This is a family run hostería with very friendly and helpful hosts. Rooms are very cozy with nice views and are inviting to rest after a full day of hiking. Breakfast is basic as everywhere in Argentina but yummy and fresh and the breakfast room is spectacular with its high ceilings and large panoramic windows.
Cons: Very thin walls which means you hear everything that's happening in the hallway connecting the guest rooms. However, this is also something I encountered in all accomodations in Argentina.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: rich breakfest, clean accomodation, surrounded with hills, helpful staff
Cons: bad internet connection
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very nice family who runs the hostel, neat and clean. Laundry serivice also great, good breakfast. And at check in all info received for trekking. Has free drinking water to refill bottles.
Cons: As usual in every place thin walls and poor internet connection as everywhere in El Chalten.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Great breakfast
9.2 Excellent
Pros: We had our own little cottage/house which was nice. The property is on the other side of town where all some of the trails start, but very easy to get to. Taxi cost 150 ARS all around the town.
Cons: The wifi was working if it was working mainly at the reception. It could be frustrating especially if you need to check yourself in for your flight. The breakfast for just simple continental with not much of an option.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Everything ! The staff were so extremely helpful and friendly, they made my stay much easier. Anything I needed they were so helpful. Also the location is perfect after a very long hike the hostel was just at the end of the hike so you don't have to walk so far into town. I would definitely stay here again.
Cons: Bathroom was a little small

Pros: The staff was great, particularly Julietta and Santiago. Julietta had lots of very useful information regarding the hiking trails and Santiago was very helpful in helping us plan some of the logistics of our travel. We were only planning on staying two nights but extended to three nights. Great location in the town center any only three blocks from the bus station. Breakfast was great. Loved our room with the balcony and seeing a view of the mountains and town.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything. Julietta was a gem. She booked our shuttle to the trailhead. Double check that we were equipped for our long hike. Ordered box lunches for us. Continental breakfast had lots of choices of food. Room had fabulous balcony with views of Fitz Roy. Perfect 2 day experience in El Chalten.
Cons: Norhing
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Chalten Suites is one of the nicest hotels in El Chalten (probably the nicest by appearance, however, has less amenities some have a like spa or hot tub). Our room was brand new in new wing of the hotel. It was comfortable. The guy who checked us in was really helpful and shared information on hikes without even being asked. He helped us prioritize our hiking days based on the weather (mainly cloudy cover) and the most significant hikes. They setup a taxi for us to retrieve our car from trailhead (El Pilar) after a through hike. We ordered a packed lunch on two of our three days there and it was the best packed lunch we had on our trip (including Torres del Paine Circuit and El Calafate). They had a laundry service that charged 250 peso ($7) for around 5 liter bag (as much as fits in the bag).
Cons: I had a few minor issues with the hotel including the restaurant, evening construction noise and room not offering same views as all the others in the hotel. My biggest issue was slow dinner service particularly getting the check. I waited for 30-40 minutes for check. I found this frustrating after arriving around 8pm from challenging travel day (Christmas day) and thinking of skipping dinner. Our goal (similar to many hikers) was to get up as early as possible while getting 8 hours sleep. We wanted to get the best light on the mountains for our photographs, which is in the morning before the sun crosses the mountains. We ended up going to sleep after 11pm and hearing doors in our hall being opened and closed by a tour group around 6 am (not unexpected for hikers). When we went down stairs to pickup our packed lunch it was not prepared (or possibly mixed with tour group). They did manage to make it quickly in about 5-10 minutes. All these things added up to me wishing we skipped dinner due to late start the next morning and not getting enough sleep. The next two mornings where quieter and people got up later (probably because no tour group). Another issue was the hotel’s south wing (which we stayed in) was still under construction when we stayed there. We could hear construction noise on the floor below us until around 7 pm, which was a minor inconvenience. In terms of rooms I thought ours was nice, however, I didn’t like how our end unit (if I remember correctly rooms 308, 208, 108) did not have a view of Fitz Roy well all the other rooms did. This matters in the morning when you wanted to check out if there is a sunrise you want to get up to see. Instead I had to get dressed and walk down to the dinning area to check the sunrise and it made it harder to go back to sleep when it was cloudy. I fell like these rooms do not measure up to the rest of the hotel’s rooms and should not have been squeezed into the end of the building.

Pros: We had a lovely room looking towards the mountains in the cabana. It was large and comfortable and we could have self-catered. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful and gave wonderful dinner recommendations and provided a very nice breakfast and packed lunch. The Hosteria is well located for everything in town and for access to the mountains. We enjoyed the art work on display.
Cons: Nothing.

7.9 Good
Pros: great breakfast, great location, helpful staff
Cons: There could have been more lounges in the common area.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Incredibly friendly and helpful staff. Common areas were very well taken care of and clean. Good breakfast (not the coffee). Location to hikes was ideal.
Cons: We were put in a room (9) on the main floor and it was quite noisy, since it is directly beside the dining area. The toilet did not accept toilet paper, so they request you put the paper in a garbage bin. Our bin was not emptied.
6.7 Good
Pros: It was clean and comfortable
Cons: WiFi was quite slow. It did not reach our room
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Very sweet place, cosy room
Cons: Breakfast could have more offer
8.8 Excellent
Pros: We loved the view of Fitz Roy from the back window! The location was excellent. We felt it was a good value for the high quality experience. The staff was helpful with booking transportation to different places nearby and giving us recommendations!
Cons: Our only issue with this hotel was the noise level when people are walking around at all. We were on the bottom floor and could hear every step taken outside our door and especially above us. I had to put in my headphones every morning starting around 6 am when people started waking up, but once I did that I slept fine!

Pros: The hotel was so charming and comfortable. We loved relaxing in the main living area. The food was superior. Even the boxed lunches were delicious. And the staff was so helpful and knowledgeable. We truly did not want to leave!
Cons: There was nothing we didn’t like.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very kind staff at the front desk and also the morning breakfast staff individual. The facility was very clean. Our room was small but very tidy. I would definitely recommend this place. Balean and Sabrina were exceptionally kind and very helpful. Thank you both for making our stay wonderful!
Cons: Internet was only partially reliable, but I think this problems exists all over El Chalten.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location is excellent and just opposite the bus station. Breakfast was great. We had dinner in the restaurant and Danny the waiter made our experience special. We had a wonderful meal and appreciated just relaxing in the hotel. We were also upgraded which was really appreciated.
Cons: Nothing really. A small thing was that the books on the table in the front room were falling apart and should be replaced.
7.1 Good
Pros: It was comfortable and useful location if you need to get an early bus.

Pros: The hosts were very accommodating and would take us in and out of the town. We really enjoyed our stay it’s a beautiful farm!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly owners; cozy grounds!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Estancia La Quinta offers a magical authentic experience of a rural Estancia with an interesting history. Patricia, the duena's grandfather founded the Estancia in 1905 decades before there was a town of El Chalten. The rooms are comfortable and clean and breakfast is great--there is a cozy common area upstairs with beautiful views of the wide open spaces surrounding the ranch. The property is accessible to several nice trails. We loved feeding the baby calves, a truly unique experience, and also enjoyed the Mate ceremony--our only complaint is that we couldn't stay longer!
Cons: The Estancia is remote, so if you don't have your own wheels, it can be a bit of a hassle getting into town and back. But they offer free shuttle service twice a day and reasonable rates for taxi service from the Estancia. If you take a taxi from town, be careful--supposedly taxis are regulated with set rates, but we found they all charge something different, so don't be afraid to haggle.
7.9 Good
Pros: Staff, setting, quality of room, bed and linen. Staff went out of their way to help, and very well accommodated my dietary requirements (gluten and lactose free). (the gluten and lactose free cookies at breakfast were great!) Cows roam in the lawn, and guests get a chance to feed the calves. The hotel runs a cultural programme, eg. history lecture and introduction to the ritual of the national drink 'Mate'.
Cons: WIFI is available in communal areas only, and VERY slow. While this may add to the experience, it poses a serious challenge if you need internet to plan your outings and next leg of your trip. The challenge is amplified by the fact that the nearest wifi outlet is some 3-4 km away. Booking.com rates given in ARS are not respected. I ended up paying for multiple forex conversions, which added some 15% to my bill.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Great breakfast. Great restaurant which is cheaper than in town though cash only. Local and fresh ingredients. Relaxed atmosphere surrounded by animals and with gorgeous views from living area.
Cons: Relatively expensive especially the single room.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything : the beautiful location. The service and good tips for the hikes. The restaurant (beef is amazing). Feeding the calf on the morning was unique. The good value for money. Special mention for Alfredo, who helped us a lot to find my luggage (lost in airport).
Cons: nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The room was comfortable, and the entire setting was such a beautiful and welcome retreat after long days of hiking. Patricia and Alfredo were very kind in helping us decide on activities, and even kindly boxed up the coat I left behind and put it in a bus to me in El Calafate.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Girls who work there. Both of them, amazing and nice, polite, helpfull. They know treks so well and they love hiking as well so its nice to have like minded person and to share expirences. They have 24hours restoraunt. As well you can buy box lunch for hikes there. And its very nice, actualy i take it 3 or 4times. As well is nice to know that you have option to eat after hike, to not bother yourself with cooking. Wifi is okay. Location is very good. Fitzroy trek around the corner and 15min walk to cerro tore trail start. Atmosphere very nice, cozy and friendly. In the end insted of 5 i stayed 7 days. Definetly i will come back.
Cons: Nothing
9.6 Excellent
Pros: We felt super welcome and really enjoyed our stay at Rancho Grande. The staff is always helpful and attentive. The location is close to all the hiking trails in El Chaltén. There is a possibility to cook your own meals or to use the restaurant which is quite convenient after a day hike (the restaurant is open all day long). The prices in the restaurant are good and the portions are big. We would definitely come back if we were another time in El Chaltén!
Cons: Around midday when there are a lot of people in the restaurant the Wifi can be slow at some times. The bathrooms are a bit out of date but they are currently remodelling the building. In the kitchen could be some more utensils to cook but it is sufficient to cook easy meals.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Great staff that made us feel welcome from check in and provided great info on all treks, accommodated us on extending our stay twice, booked originally for 3 nights and stayed for 6 Beginning of laguna de torre and fitz roy close to hostel Good food in the restaurant with 10% off for hostel stayers on the already reasonably priced menu, huge portions Cleaners seem to be constantly going, bathrooms always clean and beds made every day Hot powerful showers Lockers in rooms I read reviews that the 24hr restaurant can be noisy but we didn't hear anything from it Cant imagine theres anywhere better to stay in El Chalten!
Cons: Literally only bad thing your told the upstairs area is for hostel use only but that's not true, all tables are reserved for outside groups at lunch time, one day we had nowhere to sit to eat, with people from groups even taking up the couches upstairs. There should be a small area sectioned off for hostel use only at all times as the groups can completely take over anywhere from 1pm to 4pm. Not generally an issue seeing that most people are out hiking all day but if you have a down day like we did due to one of us being sick, theres no common area. Kitchen could do with more utensils which I read in other reviews but over the few days I think what was happening is people leaving their dirty plates and cutlery for it to be picked up with the restaurant tables rather than clean them themselves so stuff is going back to the restaurant rather than the hostel kitchen! Anything that I couldn't get in the kitchen they had no problem giving me from the restaurant.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I don’t usually leave reviews but I couldn’t not for the Rancho Grande. The staff made my stay. From Ari throughout the team I received a service which was probably the best I have ever received. It felt like I was part of the family as soon as I arrived. From giving me tips about the trails to general advice it was first class. The food there was amazing and hearty after a day on the hill, with the hostel being in the perfect location for all the hikes. I would definitely recommend to anyone staying in El Chalten.

Pros: The location was close the the entrance of the treks. The hostel was beautiful, cozy, clean, feels like home, the staffs were nice, the place was kept warm and has 24hrs restaurant!!!
Cons: My bed was a little bit sagging after 2 nights of sleeping

5.8 Okay
Pros: Location
Cons: Price / Quality, shower curtain, out dated room
10.0 Excellent
Pros: excellent accommodation and excellent staff. in the heart of the town walking distance from the supermarket and restaurants. the breakfast was good with many options. I came down with a flu and the staff accommodated all my needs and were very helpful
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Nice quiet room, staff friendly and helpful, close to walks.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Location was great and staff were friendly.
Cons: Wifi was working quite badly in our room which normally wouldn't have been a big deal, except that my husband had to get some urgent work done and so that made it difficult. Also the hotel grossly overcharged for their lunch box set - I understand that hotels will charge a premium for the convenience, but USD 16 for a very basic ham and cheese sandwich with an apple and a snack bar is very expensive for El Chalten. I would advise to buy food from shops outside the hotel.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Very cosy I loved the fireplace in the common area
Cons: wifi was a bit tricky at times but hey, we are in the mountains!

Pros: Nice place in perfect location, staff is very friendly and helpful
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly, and helpful staff! When I was leaving too early on a hike to take my laundry to be cleaned the owner immediately offered to take it for me. Graciously saying it was no problem. Thank you Jorge!
Cons: Could not get WiFi I’m my room- but all of El Chalten is notoriously bad for WiFi as it is received by satellite to an antenna on a hill outside of town. Just a heads up- Maps.me location was off by a couple of blocks.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location handy for the trails and the bars Owner was really helpful in arranging transport to the more remote trails
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: El Alamo is at the perfect location in El Chalten to reach both trail heads for Laguna Torre and Laguna de los Tres. It's near some great restaurants as well. The staff is very friendly and they made fresh eggs to order for breakfast! Decent WiFi. Clean and comfortable beds and showers all at a great price.

Pros: This hotel was a great place in el Chalten. Very central, easy to find from tue bus station e close enough to main treks. Staff was super helpful. 100% recomended.
Cons: Nothing
9.6 Excellent
Pros: I liked everything in this hotel (apart from WiFi) and was very good value for money. The breakfast was also enjoyable with plenty of choice.
Cons: The WiFi was not that great and only available in the hotel lobby. I have stayed in hostels in argentina where WiFi was good quality and usable in dorms.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Clean, good Wi-Fi, good staff
Cons: For the charged amount I would expected a bigger breakfast, now pretty standard Argentina.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely Lobby, great service
7.1 Good
Pros: Nice breakfast with a good options and attentive staff. Comfortable bed. Good supply of hot water. Polite, efficient reception staff.
Cons: Shoody workmanship in rooms. badly fitting frames, broken tiles, messy plastic filler in joints. The bidet had a wide space in the room but the toilet beside it was crammed next to a wall and your left leg was jammed against a wall heater. Bathroom sink tap built too close to mirror and not able to function properly. Loose fixtures for bath railing and towel holders. Broken wall cement around pipe and heater fittings. I can't believe the shoddy work in a newly renovated room. Cigarette smoke from smokers in cubicle outside front entrance sent smoke directly into the lounge area, forcing evacuation of clients sensitive to cigarette fumes. Needs attending to as the El Chalten wind operates most days and blows the fumes easily into the lounge. Walls are thin, thus residents having to listen to unwanted conversations and activities through the night in the next room. No wi-fi in rooms. Staff indicated this won't be available until next year.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The staff was very accommodating to our needs. It's located right off of the main road so it is very near to restaurants and shops. They had free parking available.
Cons: They did not have wifi in the rooms, only in the lobby, and it was often slow.
7.1 Good
Pros: Nice hotel, good beds and shower. Centrally located in el Chalten. The staff is helpfull. We had a room without ventilation( room number 40) so the smell was not nice. We got another room immediatly and of course this one has ventilation and so do the other rooms. Rooms are nice decorated.
Cons: They only have wifi in the central area ( not especcially negative but when travelling you sometimes need extensive wifi). There is no television in the room. Also for us no problem but good to know. The scrambled eggs at the breakfast were the worst of our four months travelling ( and we ate a lot of scrambled eggs). I couldn’t figurenout what the problem was but it was more like porridge. El Chalten is expensive but Inthink this hotel was overrated.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Super friendly staff
Cons: The breakfast was limited- but we also had nothing to compare it to
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We had a really comfortable room, everything was clean, and the staff were fantastic. The woman at the front desk gave us some excellent hiking recommendations. Everything in town is a close walk.
Cons: Having wifi only available in the lobby was a bit inconvenient.
Patagonia Eco Domes - El Chaltén - Bedroom
19
8.7 Excellent (160 reviews)
Overview Reviews
When you stay at Patagonia Eco Domes in El Chalten, you'll be in the mountains and 11 minutes by car from Salto El Chorrillo Waterfall. Featured amenities include luggage storage, a safe deposit box at the front desk, and coffee/tea in a common area. A roundtrip airport shuttle is provided for a surcharge (available 24 hours), and free self parking is available onsite.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Staff were great. Very helpful and knowledgeable about the area. Great location about 15 km from town so you feel very isolated. Great views from the tent. There are a few very nice trails nearby with far less people than those that start from El Chalten. Meals were delicious with several options. Good shower with hot water. We used their shuttle and that worked well. All in all a good experience, we had great weather so it was pleasant.
Cons: Wood stove is not adequate to heat the tent when it's cold outside but the bed is very comfortable and warm so as long as you stay in bed at night you're fine. Mice were the main issue. They come in when it's cold out and we had a mouse in the bed on a few nights and another one that got into my backpack. Mousetraps should be considered.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Very Nice and different experience to sleep in a dome! The tent was really nice with a super view of the mountains and the bed was very comfy. It’s a little noisy at night due to the wind, but earplugs can do the trick. Right next to the eco domes there is a very beautiful trail to see the laguna de los très !
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Everything was great! We only stayed one night but it was perfect. We took the noon shuttle to the domes from El chalten after we arrived, and just relaxed for the rest of the day and walked around the area. The staff is SO friendly and helpful with absolutely everything, and the experience is exactly what we were looking for. The bed was some of the most comfortable - because the dome is heated by a wood burning fireplace inside, which means it goes out at night if you don't tend to it, they also provide a very warm duvet for the bedding - we didn't find it too cold at night. The breakfast was fantastic!! The only place on our entire trip who had bacon, and they also offer a boxed lunch (for purchase) to take on the hike. Because we only stayed one night and stayed in El Chalten town after, we ended up hiking to Laguna de los tres the next day from the dome (after we checked out) with just our day packs, and did the full loop back to El chalten. The eco dome actually shuttled the rest of our stuff back to El Chalten (directly to our accommodation in El Chalten) for us so we just go straight there and the rest of our luggage was waiting for us there! This was so convenient!!
Cons: Not necessarily a bad thing, but it is far (25 min drive) from El Chalten. If you're driving yourself, it's on a dirt/unpaved road. If you're planning to do a lot of treks that starts from El Chalten this may impact your plan slightly. Also, unless you pack your own food, there's no other places to eat besides at the dome, so just be prepared to bring extra money for dinner (they do take credit card too).
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The incredible surroundings - The domes are situated in a very remote location, overlooking the Fitz Roy mountain range from the northern side. This means you get beautiful views of the sunsets or raging storms from the comfort of your dome, by the fireplace. The Staff - all the staff that we met were amazing. The receptionist was very nice and friendly and told us a lot about the domes and the area, the hikes and activities. The Food - Given the remoteness and conditions, we did not expect much, but the dinner and breakfast were really great, tasty and creative! The Privacy - The domes are not perfect (see below), but the amazing feeling of sitting by a fireplace in the middle of nowhere looking at the rabbits running outside during a sunset over Fitz Roy, while sipping malbec in silence, then falling asleep in the sound of strong wind and rain, waking up with a views of the mountains... felt very special. The Design - The domes are something between a tent and a cabin, with clever design and decoration. You feel very cozy and close to nature. We were fascinated by it. The Location - Very close to start of a hike to Laguna de los Tres from the North, which by my opinion is much more enjoyable and scenic than the one from El Chalten.
Cons: The domes are not perfect and if you would pick negatives, you could improve insulation and bathroom equipment, water pressure, etc.. but you need to keep in mind this establishment is very remote and were happy to overlook those details and just enjoy this unique experience. The price is a little bit high, but when you realise that half board is included, it's not as bad.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The Patagonia EcoDomes were the highlight of our trip to Argentina. The staff is attentive, knowledgeable, and friendly. The food was consistently delicious. The location and the view could not be more perfect. The domes were extremely comfortable. Could not recommend Patagonia EcoDomes more highly.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Great view, comfy bed, lovely fire, friendly staff, close to trails, nice and relaxing. Great for a few nights luxury away from the main town. Good breakfast and packed lunch. There is an office in town where you get the shuttle from at 12h and 17h - they also let us leave our bags there and get changed in the changing room after a very wet walk!
Cons: Food was a bit mediocre, particularly on the first night. Although the chocolate cake and wine were excellent. Otherwise no complaints!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Food is great. Excellent location right off trail to Laguna de los Tres. Cannot stress how big of a plus location to trail was.
Cons: Cold at night. Long drive down unpaved road from town.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The scenic location and staff attention
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything. The views were spectacular, the food was fabulous, and the staff was amazing. We were well taken care of. Would not hesitate to recommend.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: This experience blew away our expectations. The staff here is on another level. They will start your fire for you at any time to warm your room and will even have it ready by a certain time. They prepared a great sack lunch for us for the trail and cooked an amazingly delicious dinner for us even within 30 min of closing the kitchen. They were happy and eager to help at every turn and could not have been nicer. The grounds are gorgeous and provide access to the Fitz Roy hike. Cannot say enough positive things about our experience.
Cons: It does get a little cold at night if you don't keep the fire going in your stove. Also, it has a 20 min drive on a dirt road from town. Only complaints though.

Pros: Fine breakfast and very flexible starting time for the breakfast. Very clean and neat hotel. We got a super introduction at check-in to the trekking possibilities in El Chaltén - thanks for that.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Location to trail heads. Plenty of restaurants, markets, within walking distance. Included breakfast. Clean accomodation with an electronic safe.
Cons: Spotty / unreliable wifi (on our first day, it did not work at all). Front desk staff was not too friendly (did not crack a smile when checking us in) and not very helpful or as knowledgeable as they should (i.e. it was raining outside, when asked they didn't know the closing time of the market two doors down)
10.0 Excellent

Pros: Fatima, and Karina are awesome! The lunch for my day hikes was fantastic! Very clean and comfortable room.
Cons: That I didn't stay longer...
9.4 Excellent
Pros: Maria Belen who works the front desk was very helpful and friendly. My sister and I visited several hotels in South America over a period of three weeks and thought Maria provided the best advice and was the most welcoming out of all of the hotel staff we met on our trip.
