Cons: When we checked in and went to the room the security pass didn't work on the door, after we went back downstairs and came back and accessed the room it had twin beds, rather than a double bed. They changed us into a room with a double bed.

It was clean, the bed was comfortable and the location is great. There were some major renovations (not disruptive at all) going on and once they are done, I'm sure the place will be very good. At the moment it felt more like an Airbnb which is great for a comfortable stay but not if you're looking for a hostel type atmosphere. Would happily stay again.

Cons: The bed was a little bit uncomfortable. It was a little bit dusty and noisy sometimes because of the construction work going on. However, it was only a minor problem for me.

Cons: I feel the sheet is not so clean, maybe also because of the color. The door of the public bathroom is broken, which made me feel uncomfortable when having a shower. And there is no heater in the bathroom, so it is very cold to use it. There was no gas when I had planned to cook water for the first time and last time. The house is still in construction.

Cons: There are only two bathrooms for whole building. Downstairs is a building site. Owner does not like to speak English even though I repeatedly told him that my Spanish is really bad and he spoke English fluently.

Cons: No 24/7 staff. Checking in has to be agreed, in my case on WhatsApp which can be challenging when one has no local phone number and wifi all the time. No place to leave luggage free of charge after the checkout. Renovation ongoing when I stayed which can cause inconvenience (noise, Internet or electricity gone for some period). The place is basically just a few rooms (I was expecting more of a hostel but probably my expectations were unrealistic), so at least when I visited, the stay was not social at all. I would therefore rather recommend Casa Güemes to couples or friends rather than solo travellers who occasionally want to meet others.

Cons: We stayed at this hotel a second time. In our second room there was no apparatus to hear water like in the first. This was important to us because of an injury. When I requested one we were basically ignored.

Cons: Rather dated but there was little specific to complain of. The room was not up to the standard of the foyer cafe and reception. The window was broken and the bathroom might have been cleaner. Location is on the western edge of the downtown area, a bit of a walk to the central square.
