“The location was good for the Christmas markets and centre of Cologne with a tram stop right outside the hotel. There is a small car park to the rear with half a dozen spaces, for this you pay €12 (not sure how long this covers). Our greeting on arrival was extremely friendly and helpful, far more than we would have expected. The public areas are all well kept with fresh fruit and flowers in reception and our rooms were very clean. The hotel is on the "quiet" side of the Rhine so we all slept well in comfortable beds. Breakfast was a feast! A very well stocked buffet was provided and whilst we served ourselves, freshly squeezed orange juice and coffee (cappuccino!) arrived at our table. Refills were readily provided. The breakfast dining room was elegant and at the front of the hotel so watched the comings and goings of everyone, unfortunately in the rain, but that's out of anyone's control! We thought Hotel Freiheit a good, friendly hotel and wouldn't hesitate to stay there again one day.”
